  1. I don't know if this has been shared yet, but it appears that the "old" version of Missile Command: Recharged has been renamed and is now free on the VCS store. I haven't had time to take a picture, but it's called "MC: R" and I grabbed it the other day.
  2. I like how quickly the difficulty and speed ramp up on the PB version. The Starpath version is astounding. This does not look like a 2600 game. The sounds and graphics are delightful.
  3. I don't know, but that 86,000 George Costanza score is looking mighty impressive.
  4. 8360 Starpath version. PS - the Supercharger games work perfectly on the Pluscart.
  5. I think I recall seeing a project going on where an adapter was being made for use of PS2 controllers on the 5200. I wonder if anything ever came of that?
  6. If you happen to know what each of the 3 prongs connects to...I imagine two are grounds, 1 power. I have a custom "small" case for this board, and I'll be using a different power button mounted to the case.
  7. This is very helpful for me...just watching someone else play helps alleviate the issue of having no manual. Thanks for posting it. Question for everyone: Which controller are you using? I've been using the modern, but davpa uses the classic. It looks to be more precise in aiming. I think I might give that a try.
  8. I say yes, and this reminds me....I think I may need a bit of help with one in my spares box. It has a bad power switch and in fact the board around the power switch looks damaged. Do you think it's possible to wire a button right into whatever flip-flop circuit turns the 5200 on/off?
  9. On Space Harrier 2, I basically had only two sessions in which I played. I could clearly feel myself getting better each time and I'm sure I could have made it to a few more of the bosses given more time. I started getting the rhythm of this game! I know it's on me, but that's all the time I could manage in the past two weeks.
  10. I am happy share my opinion, and I hope others will chime in too! I really enjoy the @SabertoothVCS challenges and the timing there. Those games are all new to me, so the extra time is helpful to have fun and get better at the game. I think we may want to consider different schedules for different games. For example, 2600 and NES games are all pretty simple and familiar to most, so 2 weeks seems fine there. Beyond the 8-bit systems, I think 1 month might be worth a try. TG-16, SNES, and Genesis challenges are usually "new to me" and I have to spend some time getting better at the game. For lagging participation, maybe there should be a weekly "reminder" posted as a status or post to the challenge thread. I think several of us have been spreading the word for challenges. We've had new members join in and that's been great. But it isn't easy to get people to join. Everywhere you go, there are other challenges going. Overwhelming! There's one challenge on Facebook that is weekly, and that one is just way too much for me anyway. And maybe we can introduce some kind of incentive. Like a random participant in a challenge can be tabbed to help select the next challenge game or something like that.
  11. Great job @btbfilms76. The score was fantastic, but I really enjoyed that theater projection of the game. Wild! @Justin, I have one suggestion -- maybe we should consider setting the challenges to be a little longer. Maybe that might get more participation. I'm sure like me, many have "life" taking up more time than expected. In any case, this game was awesome and I really enjoyed it.
  12. OLD-SCHOOL ALERT! I updated my MP3 player. The old one (on the bottom) finally wore out after 20 years of almost daily usage. I tried a cheap knockoff first, but hated it so much I returned it (the user interface was terrible). I ended up buying essentially the same unit as before, including my favorite red color. The new one works and sounds exactly the same. Same great UI too. BUT it has bluetooth and a much larger memory (32GB vs 4GB). I didn't take a picture, but I also bought a nice set of wireless (around the neck) Sony earbuds.
  13. Who here has the "Atari 50" collection? I wonder what 5200 information or games are on there? I'm still waiting to buy the VCS version.
  14. My wife brought treats from the land of @MaximumRD (Canada)
  15. As per my prior blog post, I'm attempting to re-enjoy all the old classic 90's PC games. In that post, I mentioned using an old laptop running Windows 7. Well as luck would have it, something special has been donated to me. Check this thing out -- the Gateway Profile 4. It's a complete all-in-one Windows XP machine with a built-in LCD monitor, 3.5" floppy drive, DVD drive, speakers, Pentium 4, and....that's about all I know at this point. It may need a bit of repair. My best guess is that Gateway was trying to come up with something to compete with the all-in-one Apple iMac of the time. I think it's from about 2002. I'll keep this blog updated as I progress in repairing this thing, and also how it does with the old games that I have. To be continued...
  16. I have something very special coming in this same vein. More info to come....
