  1. I agree completely. This one is def one of my favorite 5200 games. I think Realsports Baseball is peak 5200 for similar reasons, plus that one uses the analog controllers to really good effect!
  2. I picked up this My Arcade Data East Classics console on sale for $35. I've heard it uses real arcade roms, so it seemed like a great deal to me.
  3. Atari *is* making new incredible games. The "Recharged" series for example, and everything else on the VCS. Yet a lot of "fans" poo-poo the system and seem gleeful about its so-called demise. I'm not sure what to think about these new systems. It seems like everything shown has already been done. But I guess we'll wait and see.
  4. Building out the original pilot bridge. I doubt they knew the cultural phenomena they were constructing!
  5. Me too. I'll get started this coming weekend once the house is empty of guests again. I love this game! "Don't be a chicken, join in the challenge like a robot"
  6. Yes. The SIO cables are standard for all devices.
  7. It is a wifi-based multi-cart for Atari 2600. Instead of loading games from and SD card, you load them via Wifi. It has the benefit of having a very up-to-date library of games available, and high score tracking. https://pluscart.firmaplus.de/pico/
  8. "Dishonored" for PC is free on Epic until Jan 5, and here's more info. It runs well even on older video cards.
  9. I experimented with SyncTerm yesterday but got really confused on getting it to work. It's funny the stuff we forget. After Atari, I'm pretty sure I did use procomm on an IBM clone.
  10. Are you using real hardware to connect or an emulator? Not that it has anything to do with that potential bug, I'm just curious. I've gone back and forth a bit on whether to buy a FujiNet or a generic RS232 wifi modem to use real hardware.
  11. Southern Amis BBS was down last night ("Connection timed out"), but I will try again as time permits. I want to thank you @Amis. For providing the information and giving me the little push I needed to try this out finally. It's quite a trip back to memory lane!
  12. I hope she quit the cigarettes that gave her that Gozer voice to enjoy many more birthdays.
  13. Wait -- I got it working! The secret that I didn't know is that BobTerm must be in ASCII mode when doing the AT commands.
  14. I'm sad to say it doesn't work for me. It just hangs on the atdi command from my laptop using Altirra. I don't have a Fujinet. This is what my screen looks like. Any tips?
  15. I've tried again, but I cannot beat that score yet. I'll keep trying. I also tried the "Bonus" challenge. I made it to the Silence track, but could not finish the race without exploding! That's a tough one.
  16. In honor of Pele, who died today... I want to talk a bit about Pele's soccer. I feel like the popular opinion of this game is that it sucks due to the crude graphics and difficult gameplay. However, I'd like to argue the opposite. It's a great game that captures the flavor of soccer very well. It reminds me a lot of Activision Dragster, another underrated game that gets overlooked because many don't understand the controls. In Pele's Soccer, the key to playing and winning is to PASS THE BALL amongst your trio of players. Example, dribble with the back left guy, and keep moving forward until a defender challenges you. Then quickly diagonally pass to the front guy. Once the defender catches up to him, pass back to one of the rear guys. This passing and movement really works well once you get the hang of it. To score, ideally you want to pass diagonally from the rear guy to the forward and then BOOM! Send the ball diagonally in either direction to beat the goalie. Getting the timing down right here is so satisfying! And then you get that super satisfying colorful fireworks show! I love it. Like I said, it captures real soccer well, as timing and passing play very important roles in the flow of the game. The game is really fun as a single player against the computer (who actually plays pretty well) but becomes 10 times better with two equally matched humans. I can remember spending hours with this game in the summer with friends. Winner gets to keep playing! I think you all know I love sports games, and this is one of my favorites on the 2600. What do you all think?
  17. Really nice work and I'm glad that you share it here. It's cool to revisit an old project and redo parts with the new knowledge gained over time.
  18. Why you! I'll try again in the next few days. (nice work! I appreciate the effort it takes to get that score)
  19. Some awesome games released via the AtariAge forums: https://forums.atariage.com/topic/345505-team-pixelboy-news-bulletin-december-25th-2022/ And here's a video review by Willie at ArcadeUSA:
  20. RickR

    I got a GameCube!

Divisive??? Really? I didn't know that. I think it's awesome, although I haven't played in many years. The water sprayer made it really fun for me. I should revisit this game.
