  1. Try Costco for chairs too. That one looks nice. Maybe you can try it out at a store. At that price, you are in Hermann Miller territory, and those last a lot longer than 3 years
  2. The "broken" robo vac works once I replaced the battery. It's kind of impressive how much stuff it picks up. I wonder how it knows where the home base is?  I bet Rod Sterling would have written a killer Twilight Zone episode about these things.

Glad you got it working.. and just for the price of a battery!  EXCELLENT!

Funny how so many modern things are "broken" until people fix them. In previous generations our parents were able to fix a lot of household appliances and products, and if not they could always call "the TV / VCR repair man" or "The Maytag Man" etc.

I'm with you @Justin.  In a lot of cases, things now use integrated circuits and very "small" designs, making them hard to repair.  But that wasn't the case here.  The vacuum has a clearly marked battery compartment.  All that was needed was a screwdriver and set of pliers.

I have a lot of these types of "fixed" items in my home just because I love fixing things.  It's fun for me and saves things from going to the landfill.

The robo vacuum is fascinating.  I've never had one before.  It works a lot better than I thought it would.  It isn't just a sweeper, it actually does vacuum.  I'm sure everyone else already knows all this, but the part that intrigues me the most is how it goes until it's battery runs down and then somehow finds it's way back to the base station to recharge.  There must be a radio signal or something to get it back to the right spot.  I also really like how it goes into those spots that a normal vac can't reach easily, like under the bed.

  3. I will! I'm very excited. I haven't received a shipping notification yet, but I think it said that could take 7 days or so.
  4. Oh man, what a great topic to bring up. I love that chair you selected! Hermann-Miller makes the best stuff. I went to "work-from-home" right when the pandemic started. It was really difficult at first. I had just moved into a nice big office (finally!) after a promotion a few months earlier. And now I'm trying to NEVER go back! 🤘 Like you, I noticed back and rear-end pain almost immediately. So I got this nicer chair...Sitonit Seating...I cannot remember the model name. Much better! Although it still screams "office chair" unlike yours. I've since removed the arms to help build core muscles. How long has it been now? 3 years this coming March I think. Yikes! Maybe I should upgrade. I hope others will feel free to show which chair they selected for their sitting endeavors.
  5. @Justin, I ordered the micro today. THANK YOU so much for posting about that sale. Mucho appreciated.
  6. I'm working on converting old family 8mm film movies to a distal format. It is slow going, but works well.

If you guys need any advice converting your analog videos into digital, let me know. I've done that before too.  There are many ways to do it, but I found the easiest for me was to feed the 8mm or VHS output to a MiniDV camcorder.  Record onto MiniDV tape, and then transfer from MiniDV to a computer over firewire.  The quality doing it this way is excellent, but it is time consuming.

What's cool is that once you get it onto a computer, it's easy enough to edit, chop it up how you like, or add music and star wipes.

How much did your film scanner cost you? I wouldn't mind doing something like that myself. Someday, anyway.

The movie/film scanners aren't cheap.  New, they are about $300.  Used, well $200 is the most you should pay IMO.  This one was less, but had missing parts.

Most of the conversion companies charge by the foot of film.  That makes it hard to estimate.  Plus shipping film back and forth both ways.

  7. Another case of preposterous nonsense. What ever happened to the idea of releasing information ONLY when the contract is signed/sealed/delivered? Just talking about an Earthworm Jim game isn't going to make it reality.
  8. Everything in moderation 🥸
  9. Some silly stuff to good around with: A used robot vacuum. I got it for free because it is "broken". I think it just needs a new battery (which I've ordered). Speak/Spell will make nice gaming-room shelf fodder. Smart wifi power plug. I haven't decided what to use this for yet. Probably to randomize a lamp while we are away on vacation.
  10. I love the idea of those! Man, Mattel was so close to creating a perfect controller. Eliminating those side buttons back then would have saved a lot of anguish. The 5200, 7800, Colecovision probably would have copied the design. I love thinking about these "what-if" situations.
  11. I appreciate having you and your knowledge here! Thanks.
  12. A bigger TV that still fits on my gaming desk. The old one was 19" and the new is 22". I love it.
  13. Looks like an update is ready today...although I don't know if it applies to the VCS version. https://realotakugamer.com/atari-50-the-anniversary-celebration-update-out-now-patch-notes/87547/
  14. As per this article on NPR https://www.npr.org/2022/01/21/1074133992/non-alcoholic-beer-na-guide-best-dry-january?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_term=nprnews&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=npr
  15. YES!!! Thank you! I'll take a look tomorrow.
  16. GREAT POST! I have three GG's that need a full re-cap (and I even have the cap kits). But I haven't taken the plunge yet to try the job myself. I will put this on my list for this spring.
  17. Good deal! Please keep posting, as I'd definitely be interested in a lot with more XE titles. Somebody grab these!
  18. I'm so sorry to hear it. @Airshack, you are in my thoughts. Peace to you, brother.
  19. Woooweee, that one looks good. You can tell a good Mexican restaurant when they pull out those sliced radishes. I agree with Justin that these posts are most excellent. Thank you! My wife and I tried a new place this weekend called "The Carver Cafe". Apparently, they filmed a scene in the "Twilight" movie there. Whatever. It's a tiny little greasy spoon, but the food was good and it was fun to be there. I need to remember to take pictures like you do. My mom turns 85 today. We're taking her out for lunch, and she chose (don't facepalm) Olive Garden! I almost started laughing, but instead I told her "No problem, whatever you want". She's had a rough time of it the last year (as have we, watching her deteriorate) so I'm hoping for a nice day that makes her happy.
