  1. Great! Thank you for the little trip down memory lane. I hadn't done a BASIC program in decades, although I owe most of my career to fiddling around on those computers as a teenager.
  2. OK, I beat the first set this morning! By the skin of my teeth. On to the next challenge...
  3. RickR

    I got a GameCube!

That's awesome. I can't imagine anyone will enjoy this console more than you. Merry Christmas to you!
  4. I'm having fun with it, but I'm stuck on the first set of mini games! I get so close to finishing but choke on that last one. I'll keep trying. This had the making of something really special, but I think the difficulty may be a bit too high for the target audience. Maybe they could have included a "difficulty" option? It will take me some effort to get past that first set, and that doesn't bode well for me on the frustration factor.
  5. I hope everyone finds peace for at least one day.

  6. I am now stuck on playing "Vectr Sectr". Holy cow this one is good. These would make some really great high-score challenge games!
  7. Hey good lookin', we'll be back to pick you up later!
  8. We'll have to adjust some of the commands a bit for Commodore BASIC, but that's easily do-able.
  9. I think it would be like this: 14 R = INT(800 * RND(1)) + 1 15 FOR I = 1 TO R : NEXT I
  10. Try removing line 5 and instead typing line 5 as 35. I didn't really like the clear screen as every pass through the loop. The command for Graphics 2 would be: "GRAPHICS 2" I found this site to be very helpful in remembering commands: http://blog.3b2.sk/igi/Data/Atari/Basic/abasic.html#GRAPHICS
  11. And a real "paddle" controller too. I've made it to "Breakout" and the updated version too. Both very fun.
  12. Here's my first attempt. Let me know what you think.
  13. Right? And for the life of me I don't understand why people pile on with negative opinions and rumors of "they are stopping production" instead of supporting a product that has some really great games. SUPPORT THE VCS if you love Atari! This isn't the fake scam bullsh@t of Amico, this is a real product that has survived for two years now and has some great games planned for release in 2023.
  14. I'm enjoying it so far, but I need to spend a lot more time with it. I see it's kind of a documentary with games sprinkled in as you go. Really well done! I'm trying not to skip ahead to some of the goodies that come later (like Lynx and Jaguar games).
  15. That's awesome to have. Also, remind me what the VCS exclusive extra game is?
  16. It will be fun. I haven't written a basic program in ages. I'll try to give it a whirl this Friday or Saturday.
  17. OK. I'll look for a USB 3.0 nubby sized usb stick next time I'm at Office Despot. Thanks.
  18. This is really helpful and I thank you. I've been meaning to check this out. I don't think I have a way to use real hardware without some kind of wifi adapter. But emulation would be ok!
  19. I'm happy to help, but how would I get the program to you? Via an ATR image file? Or I guess you mean to just provide a listing that you could type in yourself?
  20. Also posted on Facebook. This is awesome news. It's cool to see such responsive support. I didn't have any issue with the download or install after moving my VCS downstairs yesterday. I may just leave it there until the house is empty of guests again :) It's probably also a good time for me to understand how to extend the storage on the VCS. I assume a USB memory stick will work, and somehow you individually move games/apps over?
  21. A quickie game review by RickR. I'm having some fun going through the old PC CD games I've kept over the years. Game: Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver 2 My Take: It's a very simple racing game with an interesting use of FMV technology. The game uses FMV movies for the track footage with a 3D car rendered on top of that. It works surprisingly well! There are plenty of tracks. But the game is meant more for kids and isn't very challenging. I like the ability to do "stunts" while in the air. I also like that the game is quick and simple to play. But overall, this isn't a game I'll go back to much. It's a Windows-based game, released in 2000. It works just fine natively on my Windows 7 laptop. Also, I found an LGR review of the game after playing, which was fun to watch.
  22. This is VERY helpful indeed. Thank you @Sabertooth and @Davpa. This explains a lot. I moved my VCS a while ago to a room in my home that's the furthest possible from my WiFi router. And I've had download issues a few times since. I think I'll move the VCS closer before I purchase Atari 50. THANKS!
