  1. Congratulations @D.joe, the winner of our Caverns of Mars: Recharged Squad Challenge! Joe plundered the martian cities with devastating efficiency to achieve a first place score of 239,935! @Mockduck delved deep into the red planet to turn up a solid second place finish of 211,580. I came in third with a score of 208,385. As the winner of this round @D.joe will receive 3 entries in the upcoming giveaway (prize TBA)! @Mockduck and I will each receive 2 entries for posting our attempts on YouTube. I'd like to encourage @D.joe to post this high score on the Scoreboard so we can make sure this Challenge continues on! Congratulations to D.Joe on a fantastic score. Also, a big thank you to @Marco1019 for helping to get the word out on this Double Feature challenge! NOTE: Our next Recharged Squad Challenge will be announced on June 3 due to work-related issues. Apologies for the delay!
  2. We were at a specialty liquor store that - oddly - also sells breakfast burritos when I saw three gaming themed sour ales by 450 North Brewing Co. out of Columbus, IN. The first I'm trying is Starship Shooters, a low ABV slushie inspired sour ale with a Galaga theme. It's got peach, passionfruit and dragon fruit flavors. The label says to drink fresh "due to the large amount of fruit in this beer" and I believe it. It's incredibly fruity. Anyway, a good way for a retro gamer to kick off summer.
  3. Here's a "First Look" gameplay only video of Doodle Taxi. It's a bit of a strange concept. You are a taxi driver in a story book world. A witch curses you and takes the color out of the world. To restore color, you have to pick up fares and earn money. As you progress, color is slowly added back to the world. You can also use your cash to unlock cars. There are leaderboards for the game.
  4. Out now for $7.99 in the VCS store!
  5. I use an HD Retrovision Genesis cable for my Jaguar through a RetroTink 2xPro. Total game changer. It will be fun to play with this.
  6. RGB out without modding your 7800. This is crazy.
  7. Another 7800 sd cart enters the ring. This time it's the RetroHQ 7800GD. If you're not familiar with RetroHQ, he's the person behind the JaguarGD and LynxGD. By the looks of it, thus is the most full featured 7800 SD cart - and peripheral - ever!
  8. Here's a preview from Game Informer: https://www.gameinformer.com/2023/05/25/days-of-doom-is-a-turn-based-tactical-roguelite-from-atari
  9. Days of Doom was originally released in 2020 for mobile platforms. The RTS game has been completely revamped and built from the ground for consoles. Coming to all modern platforms, including the VCS, soon! Are you excited about Days of Doom? Check out the trailer and sound off!
  10. Release Date: September 21, 2023 Retail: $29.99 Developer(s): Sneakybox Publisher: Atari Official Site Synopsis : The apocalypse wasn’t the end of the world. Just the one we knew. Enter the Days of Doom, a post-apocalyptic tactical RPG roguelite that challenges players to reach Sanctuary, a place of promise and respite in a world of colorful chaos. Starting with a small cast of survivors, you’ll chart a path to reach your ultimate destination, encountering threats, including zombies, raiders, and even zombie raiders! Along the way you will need to recruit a ragtag band of heroes to protect your growing community and fight your way forward. Discovering how to best utilize each hero's unique abilities is the key to success in Days of Doom’s turn-based combat. Attack with Pyro early in the battle, as he ignites enemies for lasting damage. Then combine the Hydromancer and the Thrasher in a one-two knockout punch. Hydormancer can set the stage with a ranged water attack, and then the Thrasher can deliver a shocking surprise to wet enemies. The odds against you may seem insurmountable, but if you use your heroes' abilities strategically, upgrade them, and add new abilities along the way, you might just make it. No two runs are ever the same, which keeps you at the top of your game, and makes Days of Doom inherently replayable.

  12. More info on the acquisition of Shark, Shark and Astrosmash by German publisher/developers BBG Entertainment. Night Stalker appears to be the last big IP that they have. https://bbg-entertainment.com/about/
  13. Well, we know that Atari bought the "M Network" brand, ROMs, and IP a few weeks ago. Now, less than a day after the "update" from IE where they claimed to be pivoting to mobile and multi-platform publishing, folks are reporting that Shark, Shark and Astrosmash IP and games have been acquired by German developer/publisher BBG. Check out the summary from @nosweargamer

  15. Originally made available as a physical release through AtariAge, Tower of Rubble makes its way to the VCS as a digital download!
  16. Release Date: June 2, 2023 Retail: $3.99 Developer(s): Dionoid Publisher: Dionoid Synopsis : Tower of Rubble is a non-stop action game, where the challenge is to survive on the lethal tower as long as possible, while it crumbles and rebuilds itself around you. Every second, a block of rubble will fall from the sky at a different position, building up the tower. And at the same time, horizontal and vertical laser beams will tear down the tower by clearing out full rows and columns of blocks. And, as if that wasn’t enough, the outside walls will slowly but surely disintegrate and eventually melt while sinking into the hot lava. Sounds hectic? It is! But you have to keep calm and make the right decisions in a split second to stay alive. To survive on the Tower of Rubble, it is essential to master running, climbing, hanging and jumping. You can practice all possible moves right on the title screen. A tricky move to perform is the "island jump", where you are hanging on a ledge and jump to another ledge two blocks ahead. You'll need this jump to survive more than 100 seconds!

  18. Originally made available as a physical release through AtariAge, Amoeba Jump makes its way to the VCS as a digital download!
  19. Release Date: June 2, 2023 Retail: $3.99 Developer(s): Dionoid Publisher: Dionoid Synopsis : Amoebas To The Rescue! Amoebas have a bad reputation, which is totally unfair. Almost all of these single-celled creatures just like to eat bacteria, not brains! Did you know that amoebas don’t have a fixed body-shape and move around by changing the shape of their pseudopods, which they also use to gather food? In this game you play as Mr. Amoeba, a friendly microbe who enjoys eating bacteria pretty much indiscriminately. However, you first have to jump up the platforms and earn 1,000 points before those delicious bacteria start appearing.
