  1. Yeah, everytime she'd crawl to the TV stand and pull herself up I'd cringe. If I didn't take care of it and something happened, I wouldn't forgive myself. Getting a cool TV was a bonus! Too bad it's not in the game area.
  2. We said goodbye to our 12 year old Sony Bravia this weekend. The TV still worked but it was too heavy to comfortably mount on our mid-century plaster walls. With a very mobile 10 month-old, we started getting nervous with it on the TV stand in the living room. We replaced it with a Samsung Frame TV. These have a matte finish on the screen so it doesn't reflect light sources. It also has an "art" mode and looks like hanging framed art when not in use. The TV is super thin and you can get custom bezels. Apparently you can load your own art, but I haven't done it yet. There is also art for purchase or accessible via subscription. The other cool thing is Samsung's "One Connect" box. Power, audio and video run through an almost transparent, super thin fiber optic cable to a box with 5 HDMI, USB and coax inputs. The cable blends in without a raceway or in wall mounting. The new Samsungs are also shipped with game streaming out of the box: Luna, GeForce Now, Xbox Game Pass, Antstream Arcade, Utomik... It works pretty well and paired immediately with my PS4 controller. The matte finish and 120hz 4K is ideal for modern gaming. I'd like to get a second one for the gaming area someday.
  3. So much for the naysayers. Lifelong Atari fans and gamers at large had every reason to be skeptical at first. It was a totally fair position at the time the VCS was announced given Atari's track record under Chesnais. Once the VCS launched and - particularly- with the advent of the Recharged series, it was clear Atari were trying to do right by the community. At this point, skeptics are just missing out. This is the most support any Atari console has had since the 2600. #facts
  4. 83,890 I feel that this version is a bit harder than the original due to being zoomed in. Love the graphics and music though!
  5. Yeah, we see that too. It launched at a discount due to Steam sale!
  6. I'm here for it. The Remix, plus the Atari module, plus the app will let me play my disc based collections and 2600/7800 carts through the VCS. The VCS takes the place of a PC (or full Polymega) in this scenario. If I want to add other Polymega cart-based modules, I can.
  7. ICYMI: Polymega and Atari are collaborating on a 2600/7800 module that will be compatible with the VCS. They are also bringing the full functionality of Polymega to the VCS.

    Discuss in ClubVCS!

It's great to see that Atari seems to be thriving and is becoming a viable company unlike the Amico people.

  8. As someone with multiple retro consoles and a large library of physical media, the Polymega always interested me. This announcement could make the VCS the be all retro-modern platform! Thoughts?!
  9. Atari announced a strategic partnership with Polymega for software and hardware. "The partnership includes strategic initiatives that will provide support for Atari games on Polymega hardware and software and integration between Polymega and the Atari VCS. The Atari VCS will add support for the Polymega App and the Polymega Remix add-on. This will effectively provide all of the functionality of a Polymega console to Atari VCS owners." 10. Welcome to the official topic for Polymega x Atari VCS
  11. I took too long to snap a pic and the game cycled back to the title screen with difficulty displayed.
  12. I might leave mine at 7,800. It's just too perfect. 🤣
  13. 7,800. Not a great first game, but I had to post this score!
  14. This was "my" Dig Dug growing up. I have so much nostalgia for the silver box era of arcade ports; particularly those handled by GCC. It's quite remarkable what they were able to do with the 2600. Let us know what you think!
  15. Feel free to play along and post as a "shadow" player. We'll asterisk the score and it won't count toward the series 4 giveaway, but you are certainly welcome to join in!
  16. I'll be tallying up entries over the next week or so. Entrants will have one week to confirm their entries or withdraw. Once that period ends, we'll set a date for the giveaway drawing! Good luck everyone!

  23. YARS' REVENGE: ENHANCED Atari VCS Controller: MODERN CONTROLLER / CLASSIC CONTROLLER / PLAYER'S CHOICE Difficulty Level: ULTIMATE YARS (GAME 6) Play on: Real Hardware ✔ Squad Challenge ends 11:59 pm PST July 31, 2023 Objective Play for the highest possible score using the difficulty settings defined in the challenge. Post a photo or YouTube video of your score in this thread. Scores must be achieved between July 1 through July 31, 2023. Screen captures are not allowed as they are more easily manipulated for falsified scores. Multiple submissions are permitted. The player with the highest score at the end of the competition is the victor! Eligibility This is a Club VCS Exclusive Challenge. All Club VCS players are welcome! Play Rules Games may be played on real Atari VCS hardware. Choosing which controller to play on is part of formulating your strategy. Enhancements, rewinds and hacked versions of this game are not allowed. Difficulty Level We are playing YARS' REVENGE: ENHANCED - ULTIMATE YARS (GAME 6). Ultimate Yars features a bouncing Zorlon Cannon, plus some unusual twists that distinguish it from the other Yar games. First, you must bounce the Yar against the left side of the screen to make the Zorlon Cannon appear. Also, to make the cannon appear, you need five TRONS. TRONS are units of energy which you can collect at the following rate: Eat a cell from the shield: 1 TRON Touch the Qotile: 2 TRONS Catch a Zorlon Cannon shot after it bounces off the shield: 4 TRONS If a Yar bounces on the left side with less than five TRONS, it will not get a shot, but it won't lose the TRONS it has either. (Each time a Yar is destroyed, it loses its TRONS). Each Yar has a capacity of 255 TRONS. If a Yar tries to take on more than that, it will short out and the Yar will lose all its TRONS. The count of TRONS is not displayed on the screen. Yar scouts understand the count instinctively. Fair Play Your integrity is everything. Players should play fairly, be honest, and have fun! Falsified scores will result in your immediate removal from the site. It goes without saying that we will not allow cheats, hacks, cartridge frying, enhancements, rewinds, deceitful photo manipulation, subterfuge, or any other unfair advantage. Everybody hates a cheater. More To review detailed rules on how to play, please visit the High Score Squad page here: Message Welcome to our 17th Club VCS Recharged Squad Challenge!!! 24. It's pretty solid as far as I can tell. I have all of the 7800 releases that are available and they play very well. I just wish there were a scanline filter as in Atari 50. That would be the chef's kiss!
  25. The Closed Beta for Unsung Warriors released today to Kickstarter backers at Beta Tier or higher.
