  1. I picked this up even though I have it on cart. It's a fun game and nice homage to Countermeasure. I know that most of Bob's games have IP/Licensing issues and so will likely not see a VCS release. It would be nice to get something like Crazy Brix on here too, as that is original and would be great with the Classic's spinner control.
  2. Noce score. Let us know what you think of the OG Evercade. The Lynx Collections are two of my favorite carts.
  3. Another homebrew is on its way to the VCS. This time it's FailSafe by Bob DeCrescenzo!
  4. Release Date: June 28, 2023 Retail: $4.99 Developer(s): Bob DeCrescenzo Publisher: Bob DeCrescenzo Synopsis :The War Continues... After the successful elimination of the terrorists and their missile silo complexes, we have heard through various sources that they have relocated, and have doubled their security! Once again you must invade enemy territory and prevent the missile launching aimed at Washington D.C. and stop the terrorists once and for all! In FailSafe you must make your way through five different terrains in search of the Depot where you will pick up Fail-Safe clues. One letter in the code, in its correct position, appears in the center of your fuel gauge. The sixth terrain is the most dangerous of all - the missile silo is heavily guarded by all enemies, including a mine field! If you make your way past that, you will have to enter the four-digit hexadecimal code to stop the launch and save the world. Do that, and you will start over in a more difficult environment. Otherwise... Along the way you will encounter more accurate jeeps, cruise missiles, stationary shooters, pill boxes, and even the terrorists themselves, hiding behind bunkers! Don't worry though, the U.S. has dropped helpful packages which are unfortunately guarded by these enemies. But once you destroy them, the packages are yours for the taking! They will come in these forms: (F) Freeze Enemy - these will jam the enemy radar and halt them for a period of time. (I) Invincible - your tank will be invulnerable to enemies and their fire, but it only lasts for a few seconds, so be quick! (S) Speed - gives your tank a temporary speed boost, making it capable to plow through trees, towns and water like they were open road. (D) Distance - your tank will be able to shoot much farther distances than your enemies, for a short period of time. When these power ups are about to run out of their power, your tank will begin to flash. Make sure you get to safe ground!

  9. Release Date: October 12, 2023 Retail: 19.99 Developer(s): Orbit Studio Publisher: Atari Synopsis : Haunted House pays homage to the original survival horror adventure by seamlessly adopting dynamic roguelite elements while incorporating stealth-based gameplay and haunting boss battles. In Haunted House, players take control of Lyn Graves, the precocious niece of legendary treasure hunter Zachary Graves. Lyn visits her uncle’s mansion with her closest compatriots, only to find the house overrun with ghouls and monsters who quickly grab and spirit away her friends. In order to free her uncle and her friends, and capture all the supernatural foes, Lyn must find the shattered pieces of a magical urn and put them back together to contain the troublesome poltergeists. Through procedurally generated room layouts, shifting walls, unpredictable enemy placements, and unique ghostly encounters, Lyn must creep, sneak, and dash her way through hordes of ghouls and eerie ectoplasms in order to locate her friends and uncle. Each urn shard is fiercely guarded by a bone-chilling boss—with 3D isometric stealth gameplay, Lyn must think on her feet to conquer each challenge. When she gets knocked out by a shadowy specter, she winds up back at the haunted house’s entrance and must face an entirely new floor layout and enemy placement, ensuring each run is unique.

  13. Congratulations @Ballistik! 1,000 subs is a huge achievement! And you of course have my vote for YouTuber of the Month!
  14. Welcome to the Club @Smell Dawg! Way to kickoff with that score! @Yorkies TV- You have some competition!
  15. Yes, John Mikula. He's the team lead on the modern game at Graphite Lab. Atari bought the IP and are publishing both modern and 2600 versions. The modern version is aces - I've played the Steam demo. Not sure what's so bad about new original content? I mean, it's cool to get a better Pac-Man or Galaga every few moons, but original games are surely welcome?
  16. 3125 with a Hyperkin Trooper 2 USB stick. Finally in the 3K club! I'll keep trying throughout the week.
  17. You're not alone. I'm struggling to crack 3k too. It's a great game and well worth the $3.99. Hard as heck though!
  18. Some news coming out of this weekend's BIG Festival in Brazil: Atari to demo two previously announced titles...

A new Haunted House and Quantum Recharged!

Quantum: Recharged should be amazing if its anything like the arcade. I love Atari's willingness to mine deep cuts for the Recharged series.

Looking forward to a new Haunted House too!  I wonder if it will be an expansion on Haunted Houses from Atari50 or a whole new game?

  19. We should stick with blue (Hard) as the default. The gameplay seems to be the same for this setting, where the controls of the pink amoeba were updated.
  20. PSA: AtariAge "last chance" sale. Get 'em while you can.

I literally just found out after seeing this video.

I’m a bit sad to see this happen. Seeing talented people attempting to duplicate arcade classics on the venerable 2600 was always a fun watch and play. The activity always brought a lot of buzz to the community and 2600 platform. Oh well, nothing lasts forever.

I hope we will see more original works as a result of this.

I always said making clones or ports of unlicensed games is like playing Russian Roulette. Many copyright holders may not seem to care about games we make on these systems, but eventually, one may get copied, and the copyright owner complains. We know Nintendo is protective of their Mario franchise, and I stay cleared of that. I always tell people if you figure out the programming to do the mechanics of something like Super Mario Land/World/ etc on your system. Why not just replace graphics, sounds, sprites, music with your own designs. Make new levels with things placed in different areas of the screen. Now you made your own original game that you own the intellectual property.
Why don't those talented people start creating original stuff that is just as exiting to play?
I know I am not innocent with making clones. I made ported Tempest and Venture to Atari 8-bit only because I was working with someone who really wanted those games ported. When I started making these projects, I expressed my concerns with him about copyright. I had many problems working with him behind the scenes, and was glad when his partnership with myself and Video61 was terminated. I did what I mentioned here, took what I learned, and starting making original stuff.

  21. This is a pickup and a PSA. Atari and developer Grapite Lab released a free demo version of their upcoming title Mr. Run & Jump on Steam. You get access to the first world of the game; three levels & a "boss." The Steam demo is available through July 3. I definitely recommend checking it out. It's a very hard but super fun precision platformer. I hope we see more IP like this from Atari. Here's a quick gameplay only video. I'm playing as "Ms. Run & Jump."
