  1. I got a thing...

I haven't formed any real opinions yet except that PowerA did a hell of a job with both controllers.

Wow! Would love to hear your thoughts about the classic style joystick

@Justin - So far the controllers are the most interesting thing about the hardware. The Classic Joystick works great as a paddle in 2600 games and as a rotary in Tempest arcade on the Vault. The game Thrustlander implements the rotation function wonderfully. As a normal 🕹️ it is also very nice. I've used it on Antstream for PacMan and Lock N Chase and it's been great. I'll probably do a full blog post once I spend more time with it.

  2. Hiking in Joshua Tree National Park today. It's hard to covey the scale and vastness in photos.

  4. Well, it looks like I'll be getting a car payment for the first time in a while. I loved my MINI S 4-door. It was more fun to drive than any car I've owned since my '85 Fiero. RIP little buddy.

MINI S is a good car. Do you think you'll get another MINI?

    2. Sabertooth

      Sabertooth

I loved the car, but it's doubtful that I'll get another MINI. As my daughter gets bigger it's become harder to get in and out with the car seat. So I'll probably go with something larger in the near term.

  5. One of the best things about the first week of November is that the annual edition of General Mills' Monster Cereal is 75% off. #iykyk

Our grocery store had them for $0.75!  I didn't get any, as I'm trying to avoid sugar.   But now I regret it

That's an even better deal than mine! ($1.50)

They don't expire until May, so I'm good for breakfast for 7 months. LOL

You're welcome @Justin ! Happy to help get the word out about the site and these awesome challenges when I can! 🕹️

  8. Interesting interview with current-day Atari's new CEO, Wade Rosen, on the current direction of the company. The Recharged titles have been solid, a new Food Fight is on its way, and Fred is no longer with the Co. Maybe he is the leader to right the ship?

I am happy Frederic Chesnais left the Atari company. He didn't seem with it to me. Maybe, this Rosen guy has some smarts when it comes to games and gaming. :O)

  9. My GF surprised by me with these socks for Halloween. I couldn't help but think of the @Atari Creep

Happy Halloween everyone! Atari.io is the best forum on the net. As the Creep might say: Creep it real!

  10. Been playing the new Centipede: Recharged on the Atari VCS for the past few hours. It's actually a cool modern interpretation on the classic. It has an endless arcade mode, 30 unlockable challenges, achievements, and local Co-op. Also, the music is stunning.

It's available on all major console platforms - Xbox, PS4/5, Switch, Steam (PC) - via digital tomorrow.  Based on the VCS version, I'd say it's well worth the $9.99 if you have any of those platforms and are a fan of the original.

  11. If you've ever ordered from Best, this article will resonate. There are also some quotes from @Video 61.

Great article.  I love BEST.  I do feel that twinge to "be careful" when I do order, but actually speaking to Bradley is always a pleasant experience for me.

    2. socrates63

      socrates63

I've ordered two or three times from both Best and V61. I never knew about getting banned from Best 😆. I always followed the instructions and things went smoothly.

My last purchase had a minor hiccup because of a comment I made on the phone. Since he didn't take paypal, I called in to give him my credit card number. Well, I mistakenly called during non-business hours, and naturally, no one answered. I got a hold of Bradley on a later call and made the mistake of mentioning that I had called once previously and no one picked up. He seemed slightly annoyed 😄

Lance, on the other hand, has been much more cordial and easier to buy from 😄

  12. Just got my copy of Once Upon Atari by the incomparable HSW. Has anyone else read this yet?

I got one too about a week ago...but it has yet to arrive.  Exciting!

  15. These Evercade Lynx collections are fantastic. Aside from the lack of a Comlynx port, the games play flawlessly and look great. The screen is big and bright and they included some real heavy hitters, including California Games, Checkered Flag, Blue Lightning and Chip's Challenge. At a fraction of the cost of a McWill modded Lynx and 25 carts this is great way to experience these games!

Good to know! I'd like a McWill Lynx but the price is 😮 Maybe I'll dabble in Evercade and its Lynx games instead.

      Sabertooth

I've really enjoyed the Evercade. The collections so far have been pretty good, the screen is nice and HDMI out is a great touch. Also, having the collections on carts is fun and unique for an emulation system. I'm hoping they do a console version that takes the same software.

  16. I feel "deep retro" at the moment. Listening to the Cars debut record with turntable through the Atari Video Music while giving Demon Attack one more go on a 4-switch Sears Video Arcade and CRT. #deepretro #innovativeleisure

P.S. In my humble opinion, The Cars 1979 eponymous debut is as close to a perfect record as exists in rock music.

Yep.  Watched those GI Joe cartoons followed with Transformer cartoons.  Ah the good ol' days.  Now a days people see that, Tom & Jerry, and Looney Tunes and it's all, "That's offensive and violent."  Blah.  What ever happened to good old slapstick comedy?  Oh dear...please don't let modern society see the 3 Stooges...someone might get a knot in their drawers.

  20. Recovering from oral surgery & playing 90s "B" and "C" list platformers in between icing my face.

Rayman, Bug!, Clockwork Knight, Gex, Busy & Zool are all getting some playtime.  What are some of your favorite second and third tier platform games?

      Justin

I loved Gex on 3DO, Rayman on Atari Jaguar, and Clockwork Knight on Sega Saturn. I always thought Clockwork Knight had a lot of potential for Sega to do more with it. Knights was amazing.
