  1. What a great idea! Thanks @Justin!
  2. Thanks for the sub and comment! Yeah, I want to do more PC-Mode games. I already have a few recorded from devs like Adamvision and Sneakybox. My rule is that the game has to run on a stock 8GB VCS. There are some games that work fine on a stock system and other games struggle - but work great with a modest 16GB upgrade. Most of that is due to Windows being such a resource hog, but I'm going to play around with AtlasOS and maybe ChimeraOS to see if performance improves. RE: How to get Windows in your VCS, check out this great video by @Mockduck. He does a better job than I would do and has a voice made for radio... well, public radio.🤣 BTW - I say that as an avid public radio listener and member/supporter
  3. For every great new game or acquisition that the Rosen Atari makes, there is still a G-Fuel deal or some other weird scheme. Enter the latest example: an Atari themed "celebrity" game show. “Atari has remained a widely recognized and loved brand in pop culture for over 50 years, so it is no surprise that many celebrities have a strong connection to the brand,” said Wade Rosen, Chairman and CEO of Atari. “I look forward to seeing them share their personal stories and compete in a fun, game-show setting.” I can't wait to see who they get to show up that will have a legitimate connection to the brand. Having Zoomers and even Millenials is a bit of a stretch. And what kinda games? A Centipede themed version of Plinko? This one is a head scratcher. And its not the first time Atari has dipped its toes in this space. They had an aborted game show in the Chesnais years. Still Rosen seems like a very smart business dude. Does anyone think they will pull off more than a pilot? Full release: https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2024/02/08/2826067/0/en/Atari-Sets-Celebrity-Game-Show-in-Motion.html
  4. Ca$h Cow DX Demo played and captured on a stock Atari VCS. If you like Donut Dodo, you'll dig this one!
  5. From the maker of the excellent Donut Dodo comes Cash Cow  DX!  I highly recommend checking out the demo on Steam available now as a part of Steam Next Fest.  I didn't wrap up work until 9 (budget season) and as soon as I logged off, I downloaded this and played for 45 minutes straight.  With a game over every 3 minutes or so, that's 15 games! I did eventually make it to level 1-2. LOL

Anyway, if you like Donut Dodo, check it out !

I haven't tried it yet!  But I will soon.

  6. I'm glad that you made it safely and enjoyed the trip. It's so rare to have this type of rain in Southern California that it would be impossible to plan around. I authorized my staff to tele-work through today regardless of their schedules (we've remained hybrid since COVID.) We're definitely waterlogged after several straight days of heavy rain.

That is going to be an interesting game. Thanks for posting.

  8. A great video from indie developer Tree Fall Games discussing game development for the Atari VCS. TL;DR - Devs, don't sleep on this small but mighty platform!
  9. This looks like fun @Funkmaster V & @7800 Pro Gamer! We'll help get the word out on the ClubVCS social channels. I'll participate if I can. I'm in L.A., so unless it's after 8 pm my time, my little one makes it hard to schedule these things.
  10. I have the same set from CPU but did not grab the boxes from Marc.
  11. Not all of these are recent, but here are some modern Atari releases on physical (PS4/PS5). Of these, Pong Quest is not available on the VCS.
  12. The new update to NeoSprint is live. It has a zoomed in view for single player and implements the twist function of the Classic Controller for steering. If you haven't looked at the game in a while, it's well worth revisiting. I didn't care for it at release. Now it's fun.
  13. PSA:  Modern Atari titles Breakout: Recharged, Yars: Recharged, and Atari Mania are currently available for Amazon Prime Gaming members for Windows through Epic Games Store absolutely free!  Kombinera and Gravitar: Recharged will be out later this month.  If you're curious about these titles and a Prime Member, this is a great way to check them out.

  14. Nothing rare, but I scored a sealed Robot Tank for $11.99.

We had to get out before the rain, so we headed to the local botanical garden. I like the otherworldly cactus section.

  16. I lived in a high rise during a moderate earthquake. The building was opened in 1924. I was just one floor from the top. It swayed for several minutes and all I could think was "This is it!"

  18. This isn't as bad as I thought. Four of the five classic tables do have scrolling view options, which makes it feel better IMHO. The three tables I tried Wednesday do not. These are Missile Command, Centipede and Devil's Island. Why scrolling wasn't implemented for these tables is anyone's guess.
  19. I had to be first to plant my flag on Martian soil. My return to the red planet was pretty rough. 46,722 with a Modern Controller.

  21. Welcome to the official topic for FRENZY (ATARI 7800)
  22. The recent firmware resolved graphics glitched in Pole Position II. To celebrate, I decided to give the iconic Fuji track a spin. Programmed by the wizards at GCC, Pole Position II was the pack-in title for the Atari 7800 ProSystem. Had the 7800 released in 1984 as planned, this game would have been an impressive step forward from the consoles of the previous generation. However, released in 1986 in a post-NES Super Mario Bros. world, it felt dated. The TIA sound is dull and droning. Also, the colors of the racers - particularly the player car - feels somewhat muted to me. I do recall a graphics hack some years back that improved the look of the cars. Still, Pole Position II is a solid arcade racer that looks good and controls well. It's also possibly the most common 7800 game. If you're new to the 7800, be sure to pick one up on the cheap! What do you think of Pole Position II?
  23. I am going to agree with "Kung Fu Master", and I'd add "UniWar S" as an early example, "Dragon Breed" and "Gunforce II" as the last game they made.
  24. Congratulations SMELL DAWG! Congratulations @Smell Dawg! He takes the win in our Quantum: Recharged Challenge! @Smell Dawg expertly encircled the enemy for a first place finish of 175,986. I weaved and dodged my way to a second place score of 113,391. @Mockduck sent us spinning for the bronze with 61,162. @Atari 5200 Guy makes his Club VCS: Recharged Challenge debut with a fourth place showing of 20,058. @socrates63 joined in the fun with 4,594 to round out the final standings. As the winner of this round @Smell Dawg will receive 3 entries in the SERIES 5 giveaway ! Everyone else will receive one entry! I'd like to encourage @Smell Dawg to post this high score on the Scoreboard so we can make sure this Challenge continues on! Congratulations to Smell Dawg on a fantastic win and to everyone else who jumped in! Quantum: Recharged is such a unique game play experience and really shows that Atari is willing to take risks. NOTE: Series Five of the Recharged Squad Challenge continues with Caverns of Mars: Recharged! Be There!
