  5. Love this one! A stone cold classic.
  6. This looks like it could look nice with a VCS. Is it BT?
  7. For the second update it was just the dumper and firmware image, so I skipped that step altogether.
  8. 7800 compatibility has really improved with v1.1 REV2. My copies of Klax, Rampage and Double Dragon all now work. Also, the composite filter for Tower Toppler and Jinx look terrific. Finally Tower Toppler looks decent in HD!
  9. New update with additional fixes is up now at AA. 1.1 Rev2 https://forums.atariage.com/topic/360038-atari-2600-beta-update-11-rev2/

  11. Why is Road Runner for the 2600 so freakin' hard?!  It's killing my wrist!

I've never played it. Does it play like Decathlon?

It's pretty cool. Avoid Wile E. Coyote and eat lots of bird seed. It keeps your energy up. There are obstacles as well, like cliffs, bombs, etc. It's a good facsimile of the arcade version, for the A2600 anyway. Both the arcade and A2600 versions were developed by Atari.

  12. I think that this is a terrific idea @RickR! As you said, it will be great to have an excuse to pay our Evercades and explore the cart collections. Count me in!
  13. It was cool to see French Youtuber Manu Atari (GemTos) share out the ClubVCS Fanzine!

WHOA cool, I'm just now seeing this! Late last night I finished some back end "club" work on the site and before bed took out the Club VCS Zine and read through it again. I never expected a print edition would materialize so quickly and look so good. VCS players are extremely lucky to receive this kind of incredible support. I always think of the Amico guys out there who must feel so devastated about where things are right now, and then I look at the VCS community and think how fortunate we are to have this.

  14. Bringing Crystal Castles home to the 2600 was ambitious to say the least. Some would argue that attempting a pseudo-3D, trackball controlled arcade game filled with bright castles and colorful characters to Atari's (by 1984) seven year old console was an effort in futility. But when did that ever stop Atari? Programmed by Peter Niday, this port does an admirable job with pseudo-3D castles, a variety of enemies, between level tunes and - most importantly - Bentley Bear! The translation to the 2600 is not all gems and honey. Control with the joystick - particularly a stiff CX-40 - can be a wrist wrecking chore. Still, worth checking out if only for Atari's furry mascot!
  15. The Alpha Demo for the long-awaited PolyGunR is available as a free download on the Atari VCS!
  16. My car is a total loss and I got my settlement valuation which met my expectations. I'm thinking of going with a certified used Ioniq 5 as it's the closest thing to Trapper Keeper on wheels that exists in today's market.

I'm going to be out test driving for the next several days. I have a rental until Monday.

@Sabertooth It has to be intentional. Lancia was an Italian marque that is out of production and not widely known in our part of the world. People with an interest in those types of cars or Rally racing from the 1980s would know the Lancia Delta as an icon. I was big into Sega Rally on Saturn when it first came out and drove the tires off of that little sucker. I think it's really cool that Hyuandi was willing to put this design into production.

I ended up pivoting after a few test drives. I went with a VW ID.4. It's the largest car I've had, but works well with my family needs. 3 years of free charging a few blocks away too. I take delivery tomorrow morning.

Nice!  Congrats. Have fun with your sweet new ride.

  17. Atari has announced the development of a limited series documentary about the 50 year history of the company/brand. ...today announced the company has partnered with Emmy-winning producers Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz of Alfred Street Industries to produce and direct a limited documentary series. The series, tentatively titled Game Changers: The Story of Atari, will present Atari’s definitive history and anticipated future. https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2024/01/16/2810266/0/en/Atari-Spins-Up-Limited-Series-Documentary.html
  18. Great show! I had to catch it after the live stream. And it was an honor just to be nominated. I got choked up a little...I had a speech ready and everything. 🤣
  19. Yeah, I think we may see these in the $30 PLAION version.
  20. Now available for preorder in the U.S. via Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/THE400-Mini-Not-Machine-Specific/dp/B0CS3VD9TJ/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?crid=2YZDG7X00EVHE&keywords=atari+400+mini&qid=1705161777&sprefix=atari+400+mini%2Caps%2C354&sr=8-7
  21. I wanted to follow-up Seaquest with Atari's own underwater odyssey: Aquaventure! This is a fun game and it amazes me that Atari didn't release it in 1983. I love the colorful sprites - especially on a CRT. The lose a little something in HD. This is the XP Standard Edition cart that Atari released last year. For those that don't know, an XP cart will not work on a Retron77 - so the 2600 plus is a great way to experience this and the other XP titles.
  22. Well, it looks like I'll be getting a car payment for the first time in a while. I loved my MINI S 4-door. It was more fun to drive than any car I've owned since my '85 Fiero. RIP little buddy.

MINI S is a good car. Do you think you'll get another MINI?

I loved the car, but it's doubtful that I'll get another MINI. As my daughter gets bigger it's become harder to get in and out with the car seat. So I'll probably go with something larger in the near term.

  23. I think this simple post on today's announcement of the Atari 400 has been my most viewed/liked post ever on X. Over 6k views, 130 likes, tons of comments and 24 reposts. Who knew the 400 MINI would elicit such excitement? It's bizarre.

It is weird!  Perhaps there's a huge untapped market for the 8-bit's.  It's been an ignored platform for such a long time.

  24. Also, it will be available on Amazon and Atari.com in North America. They just don't have it up yet apparently. I typically go through Atari but given the delays with my 2600+, I think that I'll go through Amazon so I get it at launch.
