  1. @CrossBow - I can look at it today. I just downloaded the experimental firmware and have DD 7800.
  2. Casual gameplay only of Mouse Trap. Originally published by Coleco, this game was later re-released by Atari circa 1987 along with several other Coleco games as part of the red label series. As an arcade port of Exidy's classic, this leaves quite a bit out. Gone are the teleporter, colored gates and hawk. However, they kept the critical elements: mouse, dog, cats, dog bone, and cheese! This was the pack-in (along with DK) with my Coleco Gemini which I received in Christmas 1983. It was one of the very first games I owned, so it has a special place in that childhood corner of my heart. As an adult, it's much too easy in the default mode. Fortunately, the difficulty switches can change cat behavior and the TV Type switch can make the maze invisible. These adjustments make it worth a look. Played with a CX40+ with difficulty set to "Fast Cats" and "Smart Cats." Otherwise, we would have been here all day.
  3. Play full length movies on your 2600 with Movie Cart! We're truly living in the Age of Wonders. https://www.hackster.io/news/watch-full-length-full-color-movies-on-a-fully-original-atari-2600-06d2bad3762b
  4. I saw one of these on the road here. They are just ridiculous IMHO. It's wild that they were ever built. I guess the richest man in the world can make anything happen, even if it looks like an 8 year-old futurist designed it. To be fair, it was more than a year's worth of rain in a weekend here in SoCal. An absolute deluge. But my VW id.4 ain't rusting.
  5. Those teases at DE. I'm a sucker for need branded alcoholic beverages. Atari 50 wine would be great. They need to find a few barrels from 1972 and make it happen. Something from CA.
  6. You're welcome! I'm shouting from the rooftops because I want all of our members who have a VCS to get in on the deal.
  7. Sharing this here in case you're a VCS owner and haven't seen it yet. A free VCS game download from Atari!
  8. Atari is showing the love this Valentines Day with a free game code. Any game. The code was distributed in the VCS Insider newsletter and is good through the end of February. Make sure to login to your VCS and take advantage of the code. Let us know what you game you picked up in this thread! Also, there are some fun tidbits in the newsletter, so it's worth checking out.
  9. PSA: VCS owners get one free game good through the end of February. Any game.

Check your inboxes for VCS insider and your one use code.

  10. Casual gameplay only of Activision's Spider Fighter (1982) for the Atari 2600. Programmed by Larry Miller, players protect an orchard from a host of bugs. Played (poorly) with a CX-40+.
  11. Yes, I can confirm this too. I can finally play my XM enhanced cart I got all of those years ago. Fantastic!
  12. What a great idea! Thanks @Justin!
  13. Thanks for the sub and comment! Yeah, I want to do more PC-Mode games. I already have a few recorded from devs like Adamvision and Sneakybox. My rule is that the game has to run on a stock 8GB VCS. There are some games that work fine on a stock system and other games struggle - but work great with a modest 16GB upgrade. Most of that is due to Windows being such a resource hog, but I'm going to play around with AtlasOS and maybe ChimeraOS to see if performance improves. RE: How to get Windows in your VCS, check out this great video by @Mockduck. He does a better job than I would do and has a voice made for radio... well, public radio.🤣 BTW - I say that as an avid public radio listener and member/supporter
  14. For every great new game or acquisition that the Rosen Atari makes, there is still a G-Fuel deal or some other weird scheme. Enter the latest example: an Atari themed "celebrity" game show. “Atari has remained a widely recognized and loved brand in pop culture for over 50 years, so it is no surprise that many celebrities have a strong connection to the brand,” said Wade Rosen, Chairman and CEO of Atari. “I look forward to seeing them share their personal stories and compete in a fun, game-show setting.” I can't wait to see who they get to show up that will have a legitimate connection to the brand. Having Zoomers and even Millenials is a bit of a stretch. And what kinda games? A Centipede themed version of Plinko? This one is a head scratcher. And its not the first time Atari has dipped its toes in this space. They had an aborted game show in the Chesnais years. Still Rosen seems like a very smart business dude. Does anyone think they will pull off more than a pilot? Full release: https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2024/02/08/2826067/0/en/Atari-Sets-Celebrity-Game-Show-in-Motion.html
  15. Ca$h Cow DX Demo played and captured on a stock Atari VCS. If you like Donut Dodo, you'll dig this one!
  16. From the maker of the excellent Donut Dodo comes Cash Cow  DX!  I highly recommend checking out the demo on Steam available now as a part of Steam Next Fest.  I didn't wrap up work until 9 (budget season) and as soon as I logged off, I downloaded this and played for 45 minutes straight.  With a game over every 3 minutes or so, that's 15 games! I did eventually make it to level 1-2. LOL

Anyway, if you like Donut Dodo, check it out !

I haven't tried it yet!  But I will soon.

  17. I'm glad that you made it safely and enjoyed the trip. It's so rare to have this type of rain in Southern California that it would be impossible to plan around. I authorized my staff to tele-work through today regardless of their schedules (we've remained hybrid since COVID.) We're definitely waterlogged after several straight days of heavy rain.

That is going to be an interesting game. Thanks for posting.

  19. A great video from indie developer Tree Fall Games discussing game development for the Atari VCS. TL;DR - Devs, don't sleep on this small but mighty platform!
  20. This looks like fun @Funkmaster V & @7800 Pro Gamer! We'll help get the word out on the ClubVCS social channels. I'll participate if I can. I'm in L.A., so unless it's after 8 pm my time, my little one makes it hard to schedule these things.
  21. I have the same set from CPU but did not grab the boxes from Marc.
  22. Not all of these are recent, but here are some modern Atari releases on physical (PS4/PS5). Of these, Pong Quest is not available on the VCS.
