  1. For some inexplicable reason I woke up with that old Great White song Once Bitten, Twice Shy in my head. Some random MTV/FM radio childhood memory hidden in the recesses of my mind.

It's a horribly dated song and one that I've never liked. But it was everywhere at the time. It's strange how these things randomly surface.

  4. Welcome to the official topic for Catty & Batty: The Spirit Guide
  5. Terrific score @Joe ! My best ever before the leaderboards were implemented was 13K. I don't know if I have a run like that in me but will definitely give it a go over the next two weeks.
  6. When you're in AtariOS, you can use the Atari VCS Companion app to use Chrome, Google docs and launch various streaming apps. This is a virtual keyboard and mouse. In PC-Mode under Linux or Windows, you'd need a Bluetooth mini keyboard with touch pad.
  7. Yes, that's what I've been using for emulation lately. If you have a fast USB thumbstick (3.1 min) with enough memory, it works great and is easy to get going. Between that, AtariOS and the various game streaming services, VCS is pretty flexible. Here's the link to creating a thumbstick.
  8. My question is: Are you running MAME on your VCS? 🙂
  9. I just want to encourage ClubVCS members to check out and participate in the main forum High Score Squad too. The current challenge is Crystal Castles arcade, which is in the VCS Vault Vol 1. Be there!
  10. I'm going to try this on VCS Vault and the Evercade Atari Arcade 1 cart to see if there are noticeable differences. Wish I had a trackball for this one!
  11. Loving this battle for the top spot between @Joe and @E. King! It will be an interesting two weeks! 🍿🤣
  12. Yes, this was the big complaint about all the Recharged titles. It's particularly true of Black Widow since its so easy to die. Single-life score attack was baked into the lead dev's design philosophy: Live. Die. Retry. Atari definitely heard the feedback though. They added a 3 lives mode to Breakout and now Gravitar. Apparently they are working on updates to do the same in Centipede, Black Widow and Asteroids. Personally, I don't mind a single-life option, but would love a 3-lives mode. In Gravitar, default is 3 lives but you can switch to single-life for a score multiplier. That will make for a cool strategic element for the Squad Challenge when we get there.
  13. Via the Official Atari VCS Discord: A new Google form has been setup for Atari VCS owners to provide game suggestions directly to Atari. The link is provided below for your convenience. Got a suggestion for Atari? Use the form! Atari VCS Game Suggestion Form
  14. 0:55:17 Too close to call it quits now! The lower clearance for the barns on this difficulty setting, plus the extra birds make it super hard.
  15. 0:56:39 Going to try a few more time for <54 and call it. My score really improved when I switched to a Ranger gamepad. Hat tip to @greenweenfor mentioning using a gamepad!
  16. Honestly, the game is optimized for dual thumbsticks. It's cool that they've went the extra mile with Classic Controller support for the VCS though.
  17. @BHG_Gamingof The Atari Weekly Podcast hosted @RelicGamer & @Mockduckto discuss their Top 10 Atari 2600 games. The focus was on retail releases and prototypes that were completed during the life of the 2600 but released later. The video itself is definitely worth checking out but it's also a fun question to consider. So what are your Top Ten Atari 2600 games?
  18. I had the day off and watched episode 2 in the afternoon. I hope they can keep this up. 10/10.
  19. 1:02:09 A slight improvement. I have the CX-40 hand cramp after a few attempts. #oldman
  20. Yeah, that's probably the first time it gets really tricky. I find that the webshot really helps there!
