  1. Did you know that there are four ways to play Black Widow: Recharged? - "Twin-stick controls": Modern Controller/Gamepad for dual thumbstick action! - "Classic Mode: Classic Rotational": Use the spinner feature of the Classic Controller to aim your shots. - "Classic Mode: Classic Directional": Use a single Classic Controller to shoot in the direction you're moving. - "Classic Mode: Twin-Stick Controls": Use two Classic Controllers for arcade style twin-stick precision! Which controller setup do you prefer? Let us know how you're playing when you post your scores!
  2. @Mockduck has a great review of Black Widow: Recharged that really gives you a sense of just how frenetic this game is. It's worth checking out if you're new to the game!
  3. Let's get the word out about this Recharged Squad Challenge! The more people participating the more fun the challenge! Spread the word and invite friends to play!
  4. Congratulations Joe! Congratulations to @Joe our returning Recharged Squad Challenge Champion! Joe was in it to win it and turned in a massively impressive score! And a big congratulations and thank you to everybody who participated in our second challenge here at ClubVCS! 💥 Joe takes 1st Place in our Final Standings with an incredible score of 117,120, making him not just our champion but fourth in the VCS World leaderboards as of this post! I came in 2nd Place with a laudable score of 77,730 points. @Mockduck came in 3rd, turning in an impressive eleventh hour score of 68,190 on the last day of the challenge! @BHG_Gaming was hot on his tail, taking 4th with 67,650. @Davpa made a strong showing, rounding out the Final Standings at 5th with 42,580 while demonstrating his use of a trackball on the VCS! Finally, thanks to @RickR who participated as a shadow player with a solid showing of 29,790 playing the PC version. Because this was the PC version of the game, he will not receive an entry into the giveaway and does not appear on the Final Standings. The good news is that Rick received his new Onyx VCS this week and I hope we'll see him in upcoming challenges! I hope everybody who joined us for this one had a blast! Centipede: Recharged is a great take on Atari's 1981 classic that really taps into that "just one more try" part of the brain. As the winner of this round @Joe will receive a set of Recharged Squad buttons and 4 entries in the controller giveaway! Everyone else who participated will get one entry in the giveaway! Also, a big thanks to @BHG_Gaming for helping to get out the word on the ClubVCS and the Recharged Squad Challenge! I'd like to encourage @Joe to post his high score on the Scoreboard, and let's make sure this Challenge continues on! Congratulations to Joe on his win, and a big congratulations to all of our participants in this ClubVCS exclusive challenge! NOTE: Our next Recharged Squad Challenge is Black Widow: Recharged! Be there!
  5. I played a few rounds this morning but didn't get near my current score so I'm going to leave it here. I did improve my average game by a ton during the Challenge.
  6. No new Flashback Friday titles for the last few weeks. Atari had two more announced titles, Conflict in Vietnam and Solo Flight. They put a pause on war related titles with the Russian invasion of Ukraine. With Fast Break they have otherwise reached the end of their list. No news on additional Flashback Friday content yet. Watch this space for any updates.
  7. They also criminally underutilized John de Lancie all season long. Where did that arc go? What a waste of a supremely talented actor.
  8. I just finished this week's episode and I was honestly bored out of my mind. I'll watch next week because I've come this far but I won't be happy about it. 😉 Also, where was Jean-Luc's brother Robert in all of this childhood trauma?
  9. Two more days to get in your best scores! Let's close strong! 💪 I'm going to give it at least one more shot but I don't see me topping Joe's score.
  10. A cool and candid VCS console first impressions review from new ClubVCS member @E. King. https://youtu.be/T-F2Nx2v5kU
  11. @E. King - I agree with you 💯 on Asteroids: Recharged and Thrustlander. Those along with Breakout: Recharged are easy recommendations for anyone who really enjoys the spinner. I'm confident that we'll see a similar implementation in Gravitar: Recharged too. Tempest in the Vault is a sublime experience. I also think Tempest 4000, Guntech 2 and Danger Scavenger do a decent job with it. Atari and its dev partners definitely need to embrace that function as an option. it really sets the VCS a part from other platforms. Also, I saw your YT video review of the VCS and play of Asteroids. Feel free to share your VCS content on our Creator Space pinned topic:
  12. Yes, but I believe that only one can be set-up as a home console. Also, save data is local. So on something like Asteroids Recharged your progress on Challenges and local high scores will be cleared. You will still see online leaderboard scores.
  13. HomeVCS allows for multiple users to access games downloaded to that particular machine. Like a partner, child or roommate that wants their own profile. Setting home should allow them to do so and access games from the primary account without repurchasing.
  14. Does it have Battlezone?! I must have missed that somehow. They sold that IP to Rebellion. Tempest arcade is great on the Vault. My other favorites have been Black Widow and Asteroids Deluxe. Vault Vol. 2 has some really obscure early arcade games and 5200 titles.
  15. The spinner definitely sets the VCS versions apart and makes it a unique platform. Have you tried Black Widow with its rotary setting or dual Classics? Neither is as natural as dual thumbsticks but I like that Atari did it.
  16. Yeah, that was an addition in the March update. It's a really cool feature that makes Friends slightly more useful.
  17. Arcade Attack interview with former Atari producer Joe "F***ing" Cain.

A great candid conversation about his experiences during the last days of Atari Corporation under the Tramiels.

  18. Those Antstream Challenges are a blast! It's a killer app for anyone into retro gaming, VCS or not.
  19. Awesome! Glad that it worked out. Although now I'm worried about my ranking. 😆
  20. It does have a leaderboard! I'm no. 2 on the World leaderboard currently. Maybe try a reinstall?
  21. Which Recharged game is your favorite? I find mine really just depends on my mood. They are all pretty strong.
  22. A let's play with Atari Producer Jason Polansky and lead dev Adamvision (Adam Nickerson). Very cool vibes.
  23. Here is the change log from the last update from the Official VCS Discord. VCS LiveOps Changelist Live Operations Features April 21, 2021 High Level General - Family Sharing: This allows users on the same VCS to share the games they have purchased. If users set a box as “Home” all other Home users have access to each other's purchases - New $ value promo codes for redeeming full or partial price of purchases for any products - New feature to in settings, where users can redeem promo codes for unreleased products - Bios v24 - ability to set boot order of eMMC vs SSD drive - Security updates - Added few Network related changes with optimization - UI/UX bug fixes and improvements
  24. If you haven't checked it out yet, the new episode of the Atari Weekly Podcast hosted by @BHG_Gaming is up! This week BHG talks about Gravitar, an upcoming game from Pedra! dev Tucasoft, and weighs in on the VCS fire sale at Gamestop.
