So.... I've been wanting to pursue a video game podcast for some time, and I think I've finally settled on doing a game by game podcast for the Turbografx. I'm probably going to follow a similar format to Ferg and the 2600 GBG Podcast. If anyone has any tips on podcasting please feel free to share them here or via PM, as I can use all the advice I can get!

I'm going to stay away from the PC Engine side of things, at least for now, but if I enjoy doing this enough I might discuss those games as well.

I'm just planning on going into this guns blazing, with a mic, a laptop, and an outline. We'll see how it goes

The Kohl's ads leaked yesterday and it's good news for gamers who have yet to jump into the current gen.

    $199 for a 1TB PS4 Slim plus $60 in Kohl's Cash. Normal retail $299.
    $189 for a 500GB Xbox One S plus $45 Kohl's Cash. Normal retail $279.

Use the cash to get a second controller, game or something else. The sale starts in-store at 5pm on Thanksgiving or online Monday, November 20 at 12:01am CT. I am going to try for a PS4 during the online sale.

The Professor reacted to jmjustin6 in So i got a Japanese gamecube. Region switch?
Alright i need some help here. I git this Japanese gamecube from a local collector. I took it home and realized there is a switch underneath it. I can only imagine it is a region switch? But again im not sure.

So i turned it on with an American game in it and this red box came up (i guess it says not compatible). I turned it off and hit the switch and the red box still came up. I then hit the switch while the system was on and still nothing. Anyone have a clue? Thanks yall

Totally agree with you.  There are only a few flashbacks I actually use.  Listed below.  The Intellivision and Colecovision sit in their boxes unused.  They are just OK.  Not completely accurate emulatiion ruins them for me.

    But I do dig these:
The Atari Flashback 2 (as you noted).  It's real hardware.  The games play exactly the same as a real system. The Atari Flashback portable.  Being able to put games on an SD card makes this one a home run.  Love this thing. The ATGames Sega Genesis plug and play.  It has a cartridge port.  Why don't more of the flashbacks have a cartridge port?  I'll never understand.  Some games don't work.  I don't care.  I love this one too.  It's tiny and fun. The ATGames Sega Genesis Portable.  SD card.  Do you see a theme here? I think it boils down to 2 features:  Use real hardware and/or give us a cart port or SD card slot.

I cannot say I officially collect Flashbacks. THIS is my only Atari Flashback and really it is the only one I want, I lost interest in later models mostly as I prefer using one of many various original 2600 consoles and compatibles. I DO have both the Colecovision and Intellivision Flashbacks but was very disappointed when they released with controllers NOT backwards compatible with the original consoles out of the box. I MIGHT consider future releases IF they correct the controller compatibility as well as improve emulation but more likely will just stick with original consoles and Flashcarts.

The Professor reacted to CrossBow in YM2017 - 9 Track Music Album on cartridge
With permission from Catskull Electronics, I present to you the YM2017 Music Album on a Genesis/MD cartridge. These went on pre-order/pre-sale a few months back and sold out pretty quickly I believe. This is a very cool cart because it not only contains 9 very high quality tracks from various talented chiptune artists, but also had a built in 8x8 LED matrix display programmed to go in time with the music.

I received my cart in the mail yesterday and was blown away by this! I contacted Catskull Electonics who gave his permission to video and record the entire cart album for all to see it in action. No more of these are planned to be made again, so this is the only way to see and hear this excellent composition of work!

    Enjoy!

i have no software that i am aware of. harry dodgson and his wife came to visit me at christmas time after i told him about it. we booted it, nothing, it may have had a hard drive in it, i cannot remember, there is firmware on the motherboard though. we never got that far with it once it looked like no software was on the drive. that may have been about 25 years ago.

i have dev. paperwork. just getting it all scanned is a problem right now.

Here's the wikipedia page about the Panther:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_Panther

What's really interesting to me is how games on the Atari 520ST really look and feel like Genesis games to me.  I'd imagine this Panther system, if it was really based on the ST, would have been great competition for the Genesis and SNES.  Probably too late, though.

Do you have the manuals that came with it and software? If so, could you possibly posts these to share so we can try to get the unit working?

Also, were you able to get anything running on yours?

    Thanks!

i have one, along with the paper work. when i got it out of atari, they told me it was going to be a 16 bit machine to compete with sega and nintindo. i have had mine since before the launch of the jaguar. it  looks kinda like a vcr, in a all metal black case.

Also it's really interesting that the same people who made the very cool Wipeout was working with Atari. It's really too bad that didn't translate into any Jaguar games from them...
