Retrogamer81081 reacted to fergojisan in Candy Bars you can no longer buy
Bar None is probably my favorite. Not sure if they still make the $100,000 Bar, but that one was good too. Hershey's made a bar in the 90s that had mint cookies in it, I could not get enough of that one.

Sometimes I trade and occasionally buy from individuals on Facebook, so I figured it needed to have its own thread.
I'll start the bidding high with this beauty I got from a cash/trade in IntellivisionInvasion facebook.
The other overlay is in terrible shape, but this was an amazing pickup for me all things considered! Me likey!

Retrogamer81081 reacted to Justin in Just Got My First Arcade Marquee...
Congratulations NSG! My first arcade marquee was Kangaroo from Atari. It was given to me as a gift and I've tried to take very good care of it. Those marquees were all glass then, and if you move very often they are something you have to be very careful with when packing. I love having a piece of arcade history though.
I've been thinking about these marquees and how much work went into them as an advertisement to attract players to the game. They had to be colorful and pop out at you. They had to tell a visual story. They had to compete for your coins. It made me think that they're not unlike old gas station and Coca-Cola signage that you see in vintage stores and on shows like American Pickers.

Not really a fan of the game, but I got it for two reasons:
1) It was under $10 shipped
2) It's made by Atari!
I already bought some more marquees and they should be at my house by the end of the week.
Thought they'd make a cool wall decoration.

Member Feedback Builds Your Reputation
Leaving feedback is important because it's how the person you're trading with builds their reputation, and how you build yours. If you've had a trade or transaction with an Atari I/O Member, tell us about it! Was it successful? Were they honest and operate with integrity?

Retrogamer81081 reacted to nosweargamer in Crystal Pepsi
btw, my wife tried Crsytal Pepsi tonight too and thought it tasted like Sprite!
I think the clear color can influence the taste a bit. It clearly had a cola taste to me (get it? clearly), but she was certain that it was citrus like.

The connection from Adventure to Zelda is cool! Great post, well stated. I never thought about that before.

Also the items:
Both games have items to retrieve things far away (Magnet/Boomerang)
Both games have items to cross into new areas (Bridge/Stepladder)

And in both games you have to deal with bats
And Dragons
And the goal of both is to retrieve a shiny object

Retrogamer81081 reacted to nosweargamer in Adventure (Review, Easter Egg & More)
One thing I mentioned in my review, is how much Adventure has in common with The Legend of Zelda.
I never heard of it being an influence on Zelda, but they have so much in common, you would think it was.
For instance:
Both games have square shaped heroes (to me Link seems pretty square shaped in the first game) who start the game going through an entrance on the first screen to get a sword (I didn't realize this until after my review):
Also, both games have dungeons/castles with mazes inside (on the harder variations on Adventure) and both use keys (specific keys in Adventure and in sometimes specific in Zelda)

Adventure is one of my favorite games of all the time. So much so, that I wanted to start a thread on it.
First of all, if for some reason you aren't familiar with the game, you can check out my review below.
