I think that's a good idea to have the ability to spot fakes. Most likely if it's to good to be true, it probably is. I heard that you also need to be very careful buying out of Brazil because they had no regulations or copy right lays back then. So buyer beware!

Also, does anyone have the link to the Atari age forum regarding this? I really want to read the replies.

Dragging ridiculous drama that happens elsewhere into our forums is not  :pile:

Sometimes it's a really tricky line to walk. This is a news story worth discussing, and what this seller did is ridiculous. As long as the conversation stays honest and positive it's good  :thumb:

The last thing I saw was on their auction they had some "expert" come by and say it was legitimate but the handle had been replaced.

They deleted it sometime after that.   Crazy stuff man.

I didn't participate in the other thread ... I generally don't in those types of threads , but I do read them to try & keep up with the news concerning Air Raid

I enjoyed reading it , especially the parts where he would loan the game to his friends & they didn't like it, so it would always be returned to him

to summarize it sold as a museum piece for $30,000

news of this came out & others remembering it's uniqueness wondered if they had kept theirs ... link here with video http://atariage.com/forums/topic/204249-10-17-2012-found-air-raid-with-original-box/

I don't know the technical prowess involved or the equipment use to make a "repro" of the same game ... cleaning a cart shell , making a nice label does take some time & effort .... but I wouldn't spend a whole lot personally to have one .... but for the time & effort involved perhaps 25 bucks for a loose cart
