Sabertooth
This is an interesting game and one of five 7800 games that I dont have. Got 111,400 after my first few rounds via EMU7800 and a Logitech gamepad. I'm not sure if this is the emulator but it seems like power-ups and warp pods can be hard to hit/register. Anyone else have this problem? As for the game itself, its a little old school for '90 but its not half bad. I have no idea why they went with that airplane sprite though! Also, I don't like half of the enemy sprites.
RickR
I have the same issue with picky collision detection on power ups with the mess emulator.

Also, I don't like half of the enemy sprites. You can blow them up with your gun so you should stop firing underneath them. When they didn't register for me, I believe it was because I blew them up right before I touched them (they basically just vanish when you blow them up so it can be hard to tell). RickR
Yep, I understand they blow up if you shoot them too much. Still, they can be real picky to register. Like maybe the center of your ship must fly over the center of the power-up...else they just scroll right off the bottom of the screen. If only the enemy shots were so finicky! nosweargamer
529, 200 Had some time to play today. As you can see by my other scores on the list, I'm getting better. Being able to hold onto your power-ups seem to make a big difference. Actually beat 3 bosses, almost 4. Still got a ways to go, but I wanted to represent the first 7800 game well. Justin
Congratulations RadioPoultry! GREAT SHOWING, ALL OF YOU! Really awesome scores here! Congratulations on your win RadioPoultry! If you'd like to, you are more than welcome to post your winning score to the Scoreboard. You and No Swear Gamer both had really incredible scores on Planet Smashers, and if someone comes along in six months with a higher score it would be cool to see this continue. I would invite all future Squad Challenge winners to post to the Scoreboard if they wish as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSsJ55Ct_jM Our next Squad Challenge is up! http://forums.atari.io/index.php/topic/1429-squad-challenge-kaboom-atari-2600/

RadioPoultry
I'm glad I gave this game a chance. It doesn't exactly match my expectations of what a space shooter game from 1990 should be, but maybe that's why I've enjoyed it. The biggest distinction is how unpredictable it is, especially in hard mode. The player can't rely on memorization.
RickR
Agree. There's more to this game than initially meets the eye. There were times when there seemed to be a hundred objects on the screen...and not a trace of flicker or slowdown. MARIA chip doing what it's best at.
