MaximumRD
Well, after waking from a good 9 hours solid rest and checking the latest round of BC Alerts, several over the last day all downgrading surrounding areas either from Evacuation to just standby or Standby to complete removal from the standby last I dare say we have unpacked our "evacuation backpacks and supplies". Many returning home, sadly many returning to nothing but ashes but here in our area of Central Kelowna we never had to evacuate (I am belong thankful for that) and my wife and I decided we were finally comfortable and confident enough to unpack everything and unwind a bit. Such a relief, outside of some extreme unforeseen change we should be pretty much in the clear now. 😮💨Thanks for all that followed, commented, sent good vibes etc. RickR, socrates63 and Smell Dawg 3 Quote I am Rob aka MaximumRD aka OldSchoolRetroGamer and THIS is my world http://about.me/maximumrd "For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. Justin
@MaximumRD I live in Southwest Florida. I went out today and the sky looked hazy and smoky although there wasn't a smoky aroma. I thought maybe they were having a controlled burn in the Everglades. Nope, apparently it's smoke that has drifted all the way down to South Florida from Canada and affecting our air quality. How is this even possible: https://nbc-2.com/news/environment/2023/10/03/canadian-wildfires-send-smoke-all-the-way-to-sw-florida/ RickR and MaximumRD 1

How is this even possible: https://nbc-2.com/news/environment/2023/10/03/canadian-wildfires-send-smoke-all-the-way-to-sw-florida/ Welcome to just a taste of what we go through every summer 😬 It happens, though we have more than enough wildfires and poor air quality ourselves there have been occasions when smoke and poor air quality I assumed were from fires here in B.C. when in actual fact it had all drifted in from fires in the U.S. for example in 2022 we experienced hazy skies and wildfire smoke here in B.C. that drifted over from Washington and Idaho. 🤷♂️Just has to be the right weather and wind conditions. Massive out-of-control wildfires are often a problem for places many miles away affecting air quality, imagine how bad it is closer to the source, there were times here when it literally looked liked Silent Hill so thick with smoke and burnt wood smell I could have believed a fire was nearby only to find out it drifted in from elsewhere often many miles away, just a taste of what we go through every summer it seems and we stay indoors as much as possible during these times. Yeah, it's no fun 🤷♂️ Anyway as far as Canada affecting the U.S. just this past July when we had 100's of wildfires burning here the air quality and visibility put around 70 million U.S. residents under alert, including residents of Chicago, and Detroit, New York, St. Louis and Cleveland. Just look at the video thumbnail and images to compare here: https://www.cnn.com/2023/07/16/weather/canada-wildfires-us-air-quality-alerts-sunday/index.html But having had wildfires as close to us this summer to the point of pending evacuation, I'm really hoping for no repeat of it for at least another 20 years 😬I don't need that stress in my life.
