  1. I remember in the '90s we used to talk a lot about "Atari Vaporware" - stuff like the Atari 2700 Remote Control VCS, the Atari Cosmos, the Atari Keyboards for the 2600 and the 7800, the Atari 2000 kid's console, the Atari Mindlink Controller, the Atari 2600 Voice Commander, the 7800 High Score Cartridge, all of the unreleased software that never saw the light of day - all of this was announced and touted by Atari before it was ready to go. It was a huge mistake. All this focus on hardware and unreleased games while Nintendo developed a 6502 system that was essentially a 2600/5200 that could address more memory with some ColecoVision characteristics. Yet Atari was busy announcing products before they were ready. They all did it. If there was one thing I would hope Intellivision would learn from this era, it's to "build it first, then they will come." Have a clear vision, stay focused, get the job done and then begin promoting to the public. @RickR is right on here. This is the correct mindset. Intellivision should set their price point and build within that target. If you're going to delay by 3 years at least come in under budget. I can't tell you what a huge opportunity there is right now to fill the $99 niche that sits between the Mini Flashback consoles and Playstation / Xbox. That niche used to be filled pretty well by Game Boy / GBA / 3DS, but with that line effectively abandoned in favor of merging Nintendo's two product lines (portable + home console) into the Switch, there's a big opportunity. The only ones I see coming close to the target right now at that price is Evercade. Imagine if Evercade got into Costco or Sam's Club with a nice bundle that included a couple games? Intellivision has that same opportunity, and for that matter so does Atari if they can bring the price down a bit. I want to see everybody succeed and stay in the game, each with a robust, satisfied fandom. @nosweargamer Your coverage of this has been the best. I like that you can review this from an objective viewpoint. You sum it up and break this craziness down into bitesized morsels that I think everybody can understand. We all want to see Intellivision succeed, but we also see things for what they are.
  2. George Lucas filming The Phantom Menace wearing a t-shirt quoting the New Yorker's bad review of Star Wars. Here’s that review: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1997/01/06/why-is-the-force-still-with-us
  3. 🍄 I never understood the hate against resurrecting old topics. If you have something new & interesting to add to the conversation, I welcome it! We can only have so many different threads about the same topics. After 40 years there can only be so many duplicate E.T. threads, so many Pac-Man threads, etc. I say go for it!

  4. Wow, 25 years! So does that mean that MAME itself is retro 🤔
  5. Intellivision Amico would sell like hotcakes if it was priced competitively ($79) at Costco and Sam's Club with some games included. If I were in their position I would be looking at methods to reduce cost, i.e. simplified touch screens, unnecessary lighting effects, etc. They never should have announced a "target price point" to begin with. Build it first, then they will come.
  6. This looks like it could be a lot of fun for $10! I haven't played Rally Racers yet, but it reminds me a lot of Excite Truck, a launch title I bought with my Wii the day it came out. Great review @Mockduck!
  7. I'm glad you guys approve! 🙌 I think this will add a nice twist and make this a fun way of doing the Squad Challenge. @nosweargamer Disappointed that I missed getting to watch your livestream as it was going out live, I missed it by 2 mins! I watched it in its entirety though right as you finished. Great stream! Thank you for getting the word out and sharing this with your viewers.
  8. Hi @nosweargamer, I'm watching your livestream on a delay, wish I had been there from the start! This is a good question. Answer: Let's make this interesting. Your final score will be YOUR TEAM'S SCORE + HOW MUCH YOU BEAT THE OTHER TEAM BY. So for example @nosweargamer, you got to 28-0. So your score would be your team's score of 28 points, plus the 28 points that you beat the other team by, for a final "Squad Total" of 56. x + y = Final Score Where "x" is your team's score and "y" is how much you beat the other team by. This will give equal weight to both. Consider the "how much you beat the other team by" as a bonus added on at the end. This will be a fun way to make this challenge even more interesting 🏈
  9. You make a great point @Chubbz. I just got my hands on Xenocrisis and I've been thinking the same thing about some of these Neo•Geo games in general. (I touched on this discussing Neo Mr. Do! in this thread). There's a lot to love about the Neo•Geo for Atari players once you look beyond what we all know about the fighters. The Neo•Geo hit that perfect sweet spot bringing home the arcade experience of the early 1990s, and I think the Jaguar was fully capable of this as well. I'm not sure Atari saw this at the time. All of the marketing was "64-Bit Interactive Multimedia System" and everything was 3-D polygons and "Cyber". The Jaguar did some of that amazingly well! But I think there was and IS an opportunity there to really excel in the world of 2-D gaming. If they could port Xenocrisis to the Atari Jaguar (a modern Xenophobe?) or develop a new game with that Atari feel to them, I would buy one. A game like Xenocrisis with beautiful graphics, crisp action and responsive controls would go a long way to showing off what the Jaguar can really do.
  10. @Scott Stilphen is correct on this and it should be noted that Kieren Hawken ("The Laird") was the first and one of the only people we have ever had to ban from our community. He is renown for this behavior. If there is a better video on this topic please post it.
  11. Another fine piece of work. This is exactly what they should've done. E.T. should be able to walk over the well the same way Elliott, the FBI agent and the Scientist can - without falling in. You would only enter the well by pressing the fire button while standing on it. Simple!
  12. 🎳 I miss Bowling already haha

For this challenge we're gearing up for the Super Bowl with Irem's 10-Yard Fight, released for the Nintendo Entertainment System as a "black box" U.S. launch title. Special thanks to @RickR for nominating this game for High Score Squad! 10-Yard Fight is a basic but fantastic NES football game featuring simple but precise gameplay. Item debuted 10-Yard Fight as an arcade game in 1984, consisting of a series of "fights" with the player playing only offense. 10-Yard Fight was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System and was one of five sports titles to coincide with the U.S. launch of the NES, with 10-Yard Fight holding the distinction of being the only NES launch title to originate outside of Nintendo. 10-Yard Fight is widely considered one of the best Football video games of all time. Standard scoring rules for Football generally apply. ROM and PDF Instruction Manual are provided below. I hope you all have fun, and good luck to everybody participating.
