The Atari 7800 is my all-time favorite video game system so I have to be up front about my bias here. It’s an underrated system that’s only gained some of the recognition it deserves in recent years.
If you’re just starting out with the 7800, you can’t go wrong with the first dozen games released for the system. They’re mostly arcade games that in my opinion are largely well done and enjoyable to play:
Centipede Asteroids Dig Dug Food Fight Galaga Joust Ms. Pac-Man  Pole Position II Robotron:2084 Xevious Desert Falcon Ballblazer

I would love to see a return. Maybe a 30th Anniversary episode @btbfilms76?

I have some duplicate loose 7800 games, including Dig Dug and Centipede. I'll take a look and put something up in the Trading post.

I'll try to check my dups box later today, but I don't recall having any 7800 extras.  I *do* have some extra 7800 game manuals if anyone would be interested in those.  Free for the cost of shipping or some kind of trade for atari.io friends.

I would say that about a few 7800 games vs NES but many would disagree.
There was a reason why when presented with the Famicom (Japanese NES) in 1983 many Atari engineers saw the MARIA (7800) as being more advanced. Other issues were at okay in that decision as well, but when properly programmed and not penny-pinched to death in RAM and sound, Atari 7800 can be tremendously capable.

Mail call — a little bit of love spread across multiple Atari systems.
A few years ago, I bought the Jaguar in order to participate in the I/O’s high score challenge game Cybermorph. It is where I started my Jaguar experience (sadly, it’s still the only game that I’ve played on the Jag console). Despite the memes and mocks that came my way 😂 I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the game so much so that I wanted a boxed copy.
I also picked up sealed copy of Spectrum Holobyte’s Falcon. I remember what a big deal it was for the Atari ST when Spectrum Holobyte decided to release the sim for the ST. I didn’t realize there was an expansion. I hate buying sealed games, but the price was too good, so I’m happy to have it in my collection.
I also got couple of Scott Dayton’s recent releases that he made available at Floria Free Play.

    I got some new “add-ons”

Found this stand in our dumpster so I thought I might could make use of it.

And lastly my game room got an area rug.

The second game in the 2600+ Casual series is Ms. Pac-Man.  The wizards at GCC did an amazing job with this port.  I was too young to know that Tod Frye's Pac-Man was bad - I played the heck out of it - but even my six-year old self knew this was an improvement.

Oh, when Ms. Pac-Man was released on the 2600, I never played the original Pac-Man!  It's too much of an improvement!

Peeked down the hallway and noticed it was snowing, I think just barely enough to snow but it's very light and likely will melt away by tomorrow but it looks nice.

That actually looks really really nice, especially the scrolling backgrounds.
It was always my belief that Atari put too much emphasis behind the 3-D aspects of the Atari Jaguar (undeniably what was coming next) but didn't build enough on 2-D gaming. Neo-Geo and others offered incredible 2-D arcade experiences, and that was an arena Atari could've shined in had they wanted to. Even bringing Pit Fighter over to the Jaguar as a launch title with great sound would have been terrific.

Don't forget there is an NES version of Ballblazer that pales in comparison to the 7800 version in every regard.  The same goes for the Commodore 64 version (say it like Charles Barkley:  Turruble)
