  1. This was a floppy disk-based program that I had converted to cartridge format using custom code that I own. This gives you much quicker loading times than a traditional floppy disk. This is a cartridge that I use all the time when I am in my computer lab.I call it my "right hand," and I carry it around in my pocket.

    so here is the rest,

     

    SpartaDOS 3.3 is a disk operating system utility for the Atari 8-bit computer line, and it is on a cartridge. This version of SpartaDOS is owned by Video 61 and Atari Sales. Video 61 owns no other version of SpartaDOS. Any other version of SpartaDOS is either owned by F.T.E. or was released into the public domain. SpartaDOS 3.3 was commissioned by K-Products, Owners of BBS Express Professional, or what's known as Pro, to be the operating system of "PRO." Video 61 purchased all of K-Products' copyrighted software, any patents, and all hardware products for the Atari 8-bit computers, in 1998.

Missile Command on the 5200, while I think it is a good game that is even better when played with the Trak-Ball controller, is actually my least played game on the console.  I'm really not a fan of the game on any platform.  When I first discovered a XEGS in 1998 and learned it had Missile Command built-in I did like the game a little more...but not enough to help it gain any replay value with me.  I have to say, though, that is probably the best arcade port I've seen. 

    its one of the games that makes the 5200 controller shine. i was really bummed when i saw missile command on the XEGS, they did not make it into a light gun game, i was stunned, because atari was bragging to all of us dealers, they had a system and games to compete with the NES. and they said yes we have a light gun to.

     

     so why not make a game that was a obvious candidate for a light gun, make it into a light gun compatible, instead of the old game everyone knew about, and were tired of.

     

     by making it into a light gun game, it would have made renewed interest in the game, and more machine sales.

     

     same thing can be said about the 7800 cracked, the joystick, are you insane. it was a light gun game from the get go. the joystick is way to slow. played it a couple of times back in the 80's, never booted it again till i decided to see what it could do with a trak-ball, in trak-ball mode. no go their either, a complete waste of a game.

  4. This is a demonstration of a rare prototype version of "Missile Command," for the Atari 5200(with pam low, and pam hi). It could (or could not) be a later-stage prototype because it is so close to the released edition you see today.

    But, it is indicative of a possible early prototype because it has PAM labeled on the EPROM chips, both low and high.

    NOTE: PAM was the code name for Atari 5200, by the way.

    here is a updated video showing the work we are doing on the game, its getting closer to the stage where we start to beta testing.

    This is an update concerning progress on the production of "Secretum Labyrinth Xenogenesis," a new title up and coming for the Atari 5200. It is a sequel to "Secretum Labyrinth: The Legend" for the Atari 8-bit.

  6. Can you shift up and down between Hi and Lo gears?

     

    this is a further experiment by Video 61 and Atari Sales showing interaction between the V61 Atari 7800-compatible Trak-Ball controller and the game "Pole Position II." i was asked if you could shift the speed, and you can. it works well. also i used a older version of pole position II, the one that has a spring loaded dust cover, and you can pick your track also on that version. the older version is two rom chips on the board, the newer version has one chip on a 32k board. there might have been some alterations to the code for when it was ported over to the single rom 32k board

     its simply amazing how much atari dumped into hardware, yet did almost nothing game wise. when jack t. told me and bruce at b&c computervisions that atari was working on a jaguar 2 to make up for all of the mistakes on the jaguar 1, we asked him what about games, how about supporting the jaguar first before you plan on more hardware. it looks like he wanted more hardware.

     

     he never understood that no matter how good the hardware was, you needed games, lots of games, games can be so so, good, nitch games, even great games, that's what it takes, a wide variety of games.

  8. Pole Position II reacts very well with Video 61's Atari 7800-compatible Trak-Ball controller. It does not work at all in the menu, but the car is pretty controllable in Trak-Ball mode. Of course, both buttons work quite well with the Pole Position II scheme of acceleration and braking.
