  1. Loved this show when I was a kid! I used to run around doing Balki impressions all the time
  2. Combat, really? Not the best but hardly the worst IMO.
  3. Hard to argue with that list... while I think Super Mario World was the better pack in cart, I don't think it moved systems as well as Sonic did for the Genesis.
  4. Altered Beast was the first Genesis game I ever played. I've spoken about "console arcades" in another post (see http://forums.atari.io/index.php/topic/2599-console-arcades/), but the console arcade next door to my house got the Genesis when Altered Beast was the pack in game for the Genesis still, and I remember playing it and being blown away. I had no idea it was originally an arcade game, and was just thrilled to be playing a new 16 bit title that blew my NES and Atari out of the water! We still love it today at our house too... there are times my daughter or I say "Welcome to your doom!" as a running joke Two players simultaneous play is another notch in its favor, and lets face it, it's CHEAP if you're just starting a Genesis collection. It was one of the first games I picked up when I got a Genesis a few years back. Just do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from the SMS version though... *shudders* My wife got a copy for me in a lot of SMS games she bought me for Christmas, and after playing it once it has stayed firmly on the shelf, collecting dust.
  5. So what is their intro song from? I feel like I know it somehow?
  6. This I'm not sure on... I think he would have listened to other modern music, but that playlist might have been treated like an artifact from his father's past. Its like a Guardians of the Galaxy cassette thing to me. Heck when I listen to that "album" I only listen to those songs, I don't mix in other stuff. I might sprinkle those songs into another playlist, but its definitely kind of its own thing. I think you're on to something too about believable vs unbelievable... something RPO has going for it is the Oasis itself. Anything is possible because most of the book takes place in a VR video game. With Armada its all happening in the real world, which puts the reader into disbelief right away.
  7. Not sure how many here are into the point and click adventure game genre, but I had been highly anticipating this game's release. I downloaded it a few days ago and I absolutely love it! I think its definitely worth the 20 dollar asking price if you enjoyed the original LucasArts point and click adventure games. https://thimbleweedpark.com/
  8. For me it just worked better with RPO though.... I was much more willing to forgive the excessive 80 references and predictable plot because it felt right, it was what made the book so great for me. With Armada it felt more cliche for some reason. I'm honestly hoping I don't get that same feeling when EC finally writes the RPO sequel.
  9. I agree with StormSurge, good but not as good as RPO. It kind of felt like it was borrowing too heavily from Ender's Game to me, but it was still a very enjoyable listen with Wil Wheaton narrating the Audible version I picked up.
  10. Just subscribed, I'll have to check this out!
  11. Do what I did and get a Turbo Everdrive, you won't regret it! Welcome to the club!
  12. Thanks Rick! I'm pretty excited; I've never played a 5200 before!
  13. Guess it wasn't quite 20, but still not a bad haul...
  14. List of games: Star Trek: SOS Congo Bongo Centipede Frogger Joust Gyruss Berserk Super Breakout Star Raiders Defender Space Dungeon Countermeasure Q-bert Dig Dug Jungle Hunt Space Invaders Pole Position Missile Command
  15. Hey if anything less armor plating means less weight to ship! Thanks again for offering this for shipping only, it's very generous! I'd really be an idiot to turn it down :-)
  16. Rick, I think you just answered my question! I am definitely interested, and I can wait for two working controllers before you ship. Just PM me with details on approximate costs and we can go from there.
  17. I found 20 5200 loose carts at a local retro shop for 1.50 each. I don't have a 5200, but I never see 5200 stuff that cheap, so I snagged them. Debating if I should try to get my hands on a 5200, or should I try to flip my new little collection for some 2600 stuff? Seems like working ones are going for a mint on eBay right now...
  18. Yes, unfortunately that's not what I'm doing, I used the stock Intellivision RF cable and coax to F adapter with my NES to make sure there was nothing wrong with my Intellivision RF cable.
  19. No, I'm using the original Intellivision RF cable with a coax to F female adapter. Connected that to the NES and it worked like a charm.
  20. I tried cranking the sound up and didn't hear anything. I used the same RF cable and connected my NES and got sound, but maybe I'll try swapping out the RF adaptor and see if that makes a difference.
  21. So last night I had something happened that completely baffled me... I connected my Intellivision to my 25" Panasonic CRT for the first time, and had no sound! I was using channel 4, so I switched to channel 3 instead to see if that made a difference, and I experienced the same issue. I tried taking the RF cable and attaching it to my NES to rule out the cable, and sure enough I had sound from my NES. I then took my Intellivision and connected it to my Samsung LCD in the living room, and I had sound. Has anyone ever experienced this type of behavior from their Intellivision? The picture looks beautiful, but I can't seem to get sound for some reason...
  22. Eh, just snap it like I did... did it on accident with an Activision cart. Got a nice crack in the cart guide now, but all my games fit and I have no issues
  23. I bought one for a friend for Christmas, and he absolutely loved it! Took it out of the box and started playing it right then and there. I thought about getting one but didn't see the point with my PSP...
  24. Vader is my favorite because that was the first Atari my family owned, and the first video game console I remember playing. I really dig my 7800 now though, although the lack of a color/b&w switch is annoying. If I really want to play something that needs it I use the 2600 adapter on the Colecovision :-)
  25. So the Beauty and the Beast cartridge I picked up briefly shows a color title screen, then immediately goes to a grey screen and I get a constant tone. I've tried cleaning the cart multiple times, and I've rocked it around in the cart slot just about every way I can think of, and I still can't get it to work. Do I have a bad cart, or is there something else I need to try? Haven't had this issue with any other games on my Intellivision so far.
