  1. Ok next guess on game 3... one of the Strike Series? Desert, Jungle, or Urban?
  2. I think the worst thing about the review was that Pit Fighter was ranked above it on your list. Pit Fighter? For real? Other than that you gave it a fair shake, although I would say the soundtrack isn't just solid, its amazing! I get goose bumps when I hear the take off music! I think what helps cement this game so high for me though was the "console arcade" next door to my house had two of these hooked up to two Sega Genesis consoles: I think if you played After Burner II on one of these you might have more appreciation for it The first thing I would do when I went there was find this game on the shelf, pop it in, sit down in one of these, and kick some Halvarian ass! (although with the cold war being so recent I was still thinking it was the Russians)
  3. Battletech? I feel like I know this one, but I'm having trouble pinning it down...
  4. This game was one of the first Genesis games I played, and it's still a top 3 title for me on the system. Can't wait to see your review of it! I have the 3D version on my 3DS as well; it's been worth every penny :-)
  5. Totally didn't think to take a photo of what I put in! Sorry guys!
  6. I agree, Combat needs to be in every box! I chuckled when I saw it; its the ultimate Atari junk cart!
  7. You know, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe i was worried that was going to be a trend. They are doing the same thing with Pokken Tournament, but there are two major selling points that let them get away with this more on the Switch: 1. 1080P 60FPS (MK8 Deluxe 200CC's is screaming!) 2. Full portability; this is such a huge selling point for me. Even having to take a dock and a power adapter and HDMI cable, we have taken the Switch with us to a gymnastics competition my daughter was in down in Peoria, IL, and my wife and I took it with us for a weekend getaway last weekend. Real easy to just setup and play in the hotel room. Much easier than taking an Xbox One or PS4 or even any of the other many many consoles on the list. I really think the hardware is helping to sell the games here.
  8. SUPER excited for this game! I think this looks like the best 3D Mario game to date... anyone else stoked for this one? Its driving me crazy watching the E3 coverage on this knowing I have to wait till October to get my copy! https://youtu.be/t92phCwLJVw
  9. Saw this article yesterday: https://www.engadget.com/2017/06/13/atari-2600-retron-77/ This is saying 80 for the price? I also heard rumors that it is emulation and Harmony won't work. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how it shapes up, but still exciting news!
  10. I haven't heard any rumors that this will be emulation based, but there's very little info out period. I'm hoping they follow the model of the Retron 1 HD; it doesn't use emulation, but they do use a NOAC with an upscaler for HDMI output. Not ideal, but better than nothing I guess. The Retron 1 HD also has AV ports, so if you don't have an HDTV and want to use it you still can. My guess is if this is a solo cart product it will be some sort of Atari on a chip scenario similar to the Retron 1 HD. I can't see them going the emulation route to play carts from one system on a console.
  11. As weird as this seems, this game gets me a bit motion sick if I play it too long. I did three or four rounds and started feeling dizzy, like I do if I play a first person shooter. I think its all the shifting back and forth when you change direction; it messes with my head. Anyway, here's my score so far: 53,400 I'm with Ferg; I was a lot better at this one when I was younger. It was one of my favorites until I got a copy of Defender II/Stargate, then I played that more.
  12. I almost snagged that copy of MW2, but knew I wouldn't play it Glad it found the right home!
  13. Frenzy is amazing; the music alone in that game makes it marvelous, and the gameplay is superb! My biggest gripe is the CV controller, but I can play it on my wife's original CV and use my 2600 joystick adapter cables I bought from The Intellivisionaries podcast. It plays like a dream with my Suncom TAC-2...
  14. Update: Got 20 bucks in frequent buyer cash from the local gameshop a few months back, and used it to (mostly) snag Gremlins. Of course, to get that cash you have to spend 200 dollars... But hey, that was 10 dollars here, 20 dollars there over the course of a year or two so I'm not sweating it A lot of it was snagging 2600 games at a buck a piece so they really helped round out my collection and got me over the 200 game mark.
  15. Nice job all, and congrats to Greenween! I'm just happy I had a chance to participate and actually form an opinion about this game. Its been on my shelf for a while now, and I think I casually tried it out a couple of times, but never seriously dug into it until now.
  16. Finally got my second Milton Bradley cart for the 2600 thanks to NSG! I've actually had my copy of Spitfire Attack since I was a kid; it was one of three games I managed to keep from my original collection (the other two being Joust and Buck Rogers). Picture below of both carts together: I wish my Spitfire Attack label was as pristine as the Survival Run label, but I'm still happy I have both MB games in my collection now. EDIT: Realized it was Buck Rogers, not Frogger, that was the last game I managed to hold on to from my original collection... Ferg's upcoming podcast episode jogged my memory!
  17. Venture Atari 2600 Difficulty: Skill Level 1 High Score: 7,100 May 25, 2017
  18. Tutankham Atari 2600 Difficulty: Default High Score: 765 May 25, 2017
  19. I remember bringing some Vernors with us on a family vacation back to Maine one summer (its where I was born and still have a lot of family out there). One of my friends fished one out of the cooler, was like "what's this," then about choked on it after he took a big swig He wasn't prepared for that level of carbonation! He really enjoyed it though, and asked us to bring more next time we came out I still like Vernors, but I prefer Canada Dry when I want a ginger ale, so I don't drink it much anymore.
  20. Full disclosure: Pizza is the one meal I still drink soda or beer with; water with pizza is just weird...
  21. I caved and got the Princess and Invincible Mario off eBay. I got the Princess and Bowser for 4 bucks shipped, which wasn't too bad actually, even though we already had a Bowser. Invincible Mario on the other hand seems to be more popular; the best I could get was 4.50 shipped, and that was after I worked the seller down with Make An Offer (he wanted 6 shipped initially). How much is everyone's local McD's charging for the toys? The ones in my area only charge a buck a toy, but I've heard of some areas charging 2 dollars a toy. It would certainly explain some of the eBay pricing I've seen as well.
  22. What I try to do is limit myself to one 12oz a day (not that I drink one every day either). I also don't drink them with meals anymore. It makes it more of a treat and more enjoyable than guzzling a 32oz at a restaurant with some food.
  23. Man I still love me a Redpop every now and then! When my grandfather wasn't drinking a PBR he was drinking a Redpop! I grew up on the stuff (another Michigander here for those who didn't know), and haven't gotten tired of it yet. In fact, I tried Sunkist strawberry soda, and didn't like it because it was too sweet, and didn't taste like Redpop. I think Redpop also has a bit of a cream soda flavor underneath that I really enjoy, and that other strawberry soda doesn't have. I think out of all the flavors you have listed above I like Redpop and Rock N Rye the best, although I haven't tried Cotton Candy, Moon Mist Blue, or Candy Apple yet. My daughter has tried the Cotton Candy and really enjoyed it, but I'm guessing its going to be way too sweet for me, plus I'm not a fan of cotton candy in general. As far as the Coke vs Pepsi thing someone mentioned, I'm Pepsi all the way. I can get their Real Sugar stuff much more readily than I can a glass bottle of Mexican Coke, and Pepsi isn't quite as sweet as Coke, which I like. I also like the 1893 Pepsi Cola; its actually less sweet than normal Pepsi, but has a nice bite that I like. Maybe we need to do an Atari.io Pepsi Challenge at some point, remember that?
