  1. So THIS just popped up in my subscribed videos thread and honestly, I would actually consider getting this. At least it seems to know what it is and I would definitely choose it over the AtariVCS (To be clear I speak of the new modern AtariVCS offering we've yet to see anyone actually receive, you would have to pry any of my original Atari VCS consoles from my cold dead hands ! 😆😜 ). Hell, maybe just get the AtariVCS shell and stick THIS inside? 🤔😜New Micro Center Raspberry Pi Retro Gaming Kit with 100 Licensed ATARI Games!

Yea, it is sad he is gone.  Now when we get to the pearly gates we will hear, "You keep a knocking but you can't come in!"

  2. RE: N64 😎 I am a huge Resident Evil games fan so of course even though my first experience of it was on Playstation I simply HAD to own a original N64 cart as shown. It's just loose cart and I have not played it in years (Hope it still saves?) but it is one of only a handful of original N64 carts I still own as I use my Everdrive mostly. Still, look forward to trying it out again soon, what they achieved on a N64 cart was impressive. 😍

There is something very special about the N64, despite all the criticism.  Plugging in a cartridge and playing straight-away makes it a throwback to the oldest days of gaming.  Sweetness.

Enjoy that game and let us know how it goes.

The N64 was the last of the cartridge systems.  I have to admit that I admire that console.  It has some great games both 1st and 3rd party.  Midway supported it very well as did Rare. I have a lot of good memories on the console with the RUSH series and the Rare platformer/adventure games (Gemini, Conker, Banjo, Perfect Dark, etc.).  I could listen to the Cruis' N World theme all day long and not get tired of it.  The only aspect of the N64 I had issues with were with the controllers.  I would wear out the thumbsticks in about three months.  And it was hard for me to find aftermarket controllers that were comfortable.  It's just a neat and unique system to own with fun choices of colors, only cartridge system to make use of an expansion port (for something other than a CD-ROM), and is overall pleasing to use.  The controllers are surprisingly comfortable and easy to use and they don't cause cramps.

I've never played RE on the N64, only on PS.  I'd like to know how it stands up today.  Oh...F-Zero on the N64 is a no-brainer.  That's a must-own N64 title!

😎😉Now, I typically use my Everdrive but I have a pretty small but ok collection of original carts. I think I got most in a lot some time back, Ogre Battle 64 was sent to me from a fellow youtuber who said it was a good one. I would definitely play most of these happily though Quest 64 I have heard is not so great? Also, I am not much of a Pokemon fan in any capacity but I think it requires a separate accessory pak which I have but it is missing the Mic that plugs into it. Anyone know if I can plug any mic with a plug that fits? Maybe the mic from my Dreamcast vmu for playing Seaman? That would be a funny alternative. Of course Shadows of the Empire, Resident Evil 2 and Goldeneye are my favorites, of the rest does anyone have a favorite or even one you cannot stand? Thanks.image.jpeg.3fadf1188e2d9ccdac5568e9312c9467.jpeg

  3. Show recommendation - GANGS OF LONDON - IF you guys can "obtain" the first episode of this somewhere do it. A LOT of action, after the big bar fight scene I was surprised to see pretty much Daredevil type fighting action which is proven even further in a later scene fighting a huge thug with a Machete, this series is going to be crazy. Each episode between 53-93 minutes. This series is as one person described, utter carnage.

🙌 Thanks for the recommendation Rob! This looks excellent! Seems like you and Melissa have been checking out some cool stuff recently. Great post, thanks for sharing cool stuff like this@!

  4. With a few older laptops I have found over the years, honestly I have had no issue running Windows 10 on anything that came with Windows 7 / Windows Vista / Windows 8. Meaning installed fine and stable, for sure where possible if I have some spare parts I upgrade with a trickle down affect on other machines, I like to take it up to 8 GB memory and replace the hard drive, especially a slow 5400 rpm with just about any sized SSD at least to boot off of. Not always possible of course depending on what I have spare but yeah this Sony Vaio with just 4 gb and 5400 rpm Hard drive definitely does the job in pinch. Admittedly I DO tweak and customize a lot, suppress telemetry and disable Cortana etc, these are my default actions I have always done on Windows kicking useless start up programs and background tasks to the curb to save every precious resource. In daily serious use I prefer not to use a Windows machine with less than 8 gb ram and at least an i5 CPU (Or AMD equivalent) but the old nerd in me gets pleasure seeing just how far I can push these old machines while gaining some use out of them, especially these old tank built laptops that others have discarded without thought. 😀
  5. 😎😉I like using one machine to opt-in for Windows Insider Preview Evaluation builds of Windows, WHICH machine do I use for this? Well, certainly not our main desktop (THE HUB OF MY WORLD 😜) and certainly not our main Laptop which is a 17' Dell that Melissa currently uses as her daily driver working from home. Our third best machine / second best laptop is the HP Pavilion I found with just an AMD A6 with 8gb ram (I upgraded from 4) is pretty much MY go to when not on desktop so that leaves another machine I found, the beautiful but very slow Sony Vaio Laptop. This machine with just 4gb ram - 5400 rpm Hardrive and sluggish CPU: Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo P8400 @ 2.26GHz, originally came with Windows VISTA 😒 but I removed that for a basic install of Windows 10 Home which considering the hardware runs "well enough" in that it is stable if a tad slow and unresponsive. Yep THIS machine was the one I choose to evaluate the latest preview builds Of Windows 10. 😂Because in the end it is my last choice normally to use Windows on anyways and if it crashes or becomes unstable it will hardly be a setback or cause any issues. BUT THAT SAID the latest Insider's Preview Build seems to be running just as well and stable as the basic retail build I was previously running. If it runs good on THIS hardware that bodes well for anything newer. Between the customizing and settings I always change or restrict on any Win 10 OS I run, I really cannot notice or tell you about any differences without looking up specific details. Other than a nicer looking icon for some of Windows 10 default tools / apps (Camera / Calculator / Defender ) I cannot tell much difference, so I will keep this machine on the FAST RING opt-in for Preview Builds just for testing and giving me an excuses to boot up this old Sony Vaio more often. Oh, and all this while dual booting Linux Ubuntu on the same machine has caused no issues. 😜 😎
  6. Just a lazy day today so....it's just a sit on my butt with a laptop day........I took this with the crappy camera on the low end HP Pavilion (It's good enough for browsing and Youtube 😝 ) I ain't fixing my hair or putting on pants today..... because I am not stepping out or expecting company. 😜😎

What shows are you and Melissa enjoying this weekend? 📺

    3. MaximumRD

Oh, we watch a variety, many are UK based, detective shows, things like that. I think one is based in Finland called Arctic Circle (aka Ivalo) It is mostly English with subtitles when needed.  - summary "Arctic Circle (aka Ivalo) is set in the unforgiving polar region, amidst the icy landscapes of Finnish Lapland. After Nina Kautsalo, a Finnish police officer, finds a dying prostitute in an old cabin in the wilderness, the ensuing criminal investigation takes a surprise twist when a deadly virus is discovered in the prostitute's blood. However, when Thomas Lorenz, a German virologist, travels to Lapland to investigate the virus, he and Nina suddenly find themselves in the middle of an exceedingly unusual criminal investigation."  - HONESTLY most of the shows and series, even various talk shows and comedy specials etc, I would say the majority of what we watch are based outside of USA / Hollywood etc.

Nordic Noir is quite interesting as well 😎 Every so often a new "network" or american show or series catches our eye, we cannot resist checking it out but usually we are reminded how drawn out and overly dramatic that stuff is especially once you have experienced shows outside of Hollywood / USA. Typically american series, say a TV crime drama for example that run 23 episodes in a season gets like half that in a UK series, just needlessly drawn out. That said, we still watch specific Hollywood films and even more specific TV series and shows, there is so much variety of what to watch now that we tend to be pickier than ever because there is always a backlog of shows. We STREAM a LOT as well, off various, let's just say hosting sites that one would be wise to use Ad Blockers on 😛 Not a problem 🦜🏴‍☠️For some time we have a nice setup, the main desktop GPU hooked up to the main desktop monitor as well our SHARP 43' 4k Roku TV, for streaming full screen, even Melissa has gotten into Youtube big time, it is AMAZING the content you can find from those foreign shows I mentioned to stuff she watches for her gardening tips to highlights of talent shows etc.

Endless content. There is always something playing / streaming on the big TV, often I am half watching whatever she is watching while simultaneously I am multitasking sitting in front of the desktop monitor with a earbud on one ear as I also still browsing forums, Facebook and sites 😆There are very few shows where I will "unplug" and give it my full undecided attention. So much to watch and so little time I have even found myself dropping shows and series I had been watching religiously for years because again, it's just the same thing over and over and over. Instead, enjoy checking out new shows and series I'd have never considered or even known about before stumbling onto streaming and hosting sites. Sometimes it can be tricky finding roper subtitles for a show that looks promising but the majority of the time, mostly because I am a persistent and stubborn SOB I find it. Then on top of all that, I have a folder full of movies ready to pick from whenever we want a break from shows. IT IS AMAZING how much our habits and viewing has changed even in the past 10 years. Back in the day I had a library of VHS, THAN DVD's and skipped the whole BluRay going straight to streaming, DOWNLOADING - AHEM - and now everything is viewed either off a streaming site or off the hard drive and I still have literally binders of movies / tv shows on DVD copies I will likely dispose of at some point, never envisioned that.

WOW that's a lot of interesting stuff to watch! Sounds very interesting and High I.Q.. Foreign shows and British documentaries are always interesting to me. I'll have to check Ivalo out, thanks for the recommendation 😎

  9. This was great, made me feel better about his recent passing.😎

  10. Hah thanks, well I was 10 years younger and quite a bit heavier! 😆😜🤔But, these are the Youtube days I miss. Doing real video responses etc. I like looking at the people that commented back then and the stories people shared. Also me watching is like literally seeing myself say and do things I barely recall since it's all off the top of my head. I amuse myself often.
  11. Blast from the past! WOW! 😛😆😎One thing leads to another and I came across THIS fun old video where I responded to some video game related questions. I am always amused particularly because I just don't remember videos I did like this 10 years ago, mostly because I just answer off the top of my head, fun to see my answers and what I was into at the time, who I was responding to and connected with etc. Just sharing some fun little stories but interesting if anyone wants to answer the same questions today. 😃 What is the strangest place you have played a video game? What is the longest you've attempted to repair a computer/console non-stop? Have you ever had nightmares about games? Have you ever played a game that was too scary to play?
  12. So yeah, hair care IS a thing since we cannot go out and social distancing blah blah. I just recently SHAVED my beard off 😮 because I like to "reset" every now and then, let my face breath etc, it's cool, I will have 5 o'clock shadow by 3 o'clock again 🙄 I mention this only because I am posting these silly low res images I took in Linux on one of my low end craptops recently and so you can see my before and after. I used a webcam effect in the after image because I was MAD LIKE HULK or something 😆 Now, as for the hair on my head well, who knows? We don't have clippers and I am not hacking away at my head for over 2 hours with disposable razors like I did my face so, I am expecting my hair to get longer than I have allowed it in years, I will likely have the Mod Squad Clarence Williams III / Linc Hayes Afro going before this is all over. 😎
  13. I think he just got burned out to some degree, he does a lot of short videos now (I am still subbed) many just a quick look through of 80's comics etc.
  14. 😜 Made this the wallpaper on my old HP laptop because it feels like we are living in the world based on 12 Monkeys right now 🙄😎

Hope everyone is healthy, safe, following recommended precautions etc.

  16. I been suffering severe sinus issues past 3 days. FINALLY everything that was jammed up in my nasal passages released into my nose and I was able to blow it out, required much sudafed, inhalation and mostly ibuprofen and Tylenol because I get a severe sinus headaches from it, the first day really bad and painful but the next couple days even after doing everything still experiencing a constant low underlying headache which clearly was wearing me out. Today is the first day I actually feel relief. Blew a bunch a shit out of my nose and throat in a hot steamy shower, unclogged finally! I will continue on sudafed for the rest of the day until I go to bed then hopefully I can do without it after that, knocks me on my ass though, I hibernate like bear but it makes me dream like crazy and I feel it helps in the body healing process. First thing I noted was no cough or any other symptoms so not jumping the gun or being paranoid about Covid but at the same time need to be careful, don't want to be compromised by anything that might cause me to be even more susceptible to virus. Would not be the first time where I was sick and got through it only to be knocked on my ass by something even worse! But yeah, feeling much more like my old self which may never be GREAT these days but at least it allows me to be functional and for that I am thankful.
  17. RE: Commodore 64. Once (I learned a lesson 😎) back in the early days, my first C64, the classic breadbox model, I loved it so, I even painted the case a cool shiny BLACK with spray paint. NOTE: Image shown is not mine and included for descriptive purposes only. Sadly, I had more balls than knowledge and was always tinkering, wanting to see the guts of a machine etc. Do you know where this is going? I disassembled the machine BUT, and I think this was my biggest mistake in all this, with the cover and shielding OFF for some reason I still had it plugged in and turned on and poking around looking at the chips with screwdriver in hand I explored the guts noting numbers and labels when suddenly I dropped my tool (I MEAN MY SCREWDRIVER!) and there was a pop sound followed with a spark. It all happened so fast, I do not recall seeing any obvious damage but....well after putting everything back together, at first I was happy to see the machine start up and at first thought eh, everything's fine but.....nope. Turns out everything I loaded, whether from cassette or disk just ran at the wrong speed, everything was now super slow, like slideshow slow, as if every process went from normal to the speed of a snail crawling through molasses, it seemed to work normally otherwise from what I recall but nothing was playable or usable after that. Oh man, I was soooo upset and mad at myself. Such things were rare commodities for me at that young age and I was never going to get a replacement that's for sure, I had gotten it used as a hand me down. I learned a valuable lesson that day I can tell you. Oh I still tinkered, took things apart and explored every electronic item I would be lucky enough to get, MOST reassembled and working again successfully. Anyway, there was a time I got ONE hell of a shock that I think made my heart possibly stop temporarily while working at the back of a 26' cabinet RCA CRT Television but that's another story 😛 Note mine (it's long gone 😢) but similar
  18. Couple images gave me a chuckle 😆
