  1. HYPERKIN posted a live video demo from E3 - https://www.facebook.com/HyperkinGames/videos/1380516251983467/?hc_ref=NEWSFEED
  2. UGH so sad, RIP , he always seemed happy and smiling in photos and interviews and was such a big part in classic gaming history. Always seemed inviting towards anyone that appreciated Intellivision etc. Very sad news indeed.
  3. Well put man! Baby steps maybe but at least some things are finally happening to spotlight the 2600 era, hopefully is just the start. While I think such items are targeted to us older gamer/collectors I would love if the low cost and ease of connection and accessability may draw in younger folk who might not of previously considered anything prior to NES. IF IT STIRS ENOUGH INTEREST to influence even a small percentage of todays gamers to perhaps research and learn about the pioneering of modern gaming, some respect for it, that could be cool.
  4. Here is somewhat of an update from the author of that ENGADGET LINK - I'm the author of the Retron 77 report... he told me they were thinking around $80, but hadn't decided yet (so yes, it can change... but that's definitely what he said). I actually played it in 16:9... and their stand at the show lists "16:9" as a feature on the printed materials. Though he listed a number of modes to ensure authentic retro feel (black and white etc) so much of this is likely configurable, and original aspect ratio etc. And again... yes possibly subject to change. But the report is based on actual experience. The image didn't look terribly stretched, but not sure what method they are using for upscaling etc. - JUST SHARING INFO AS I SEE IT
  5. To be clear, what I posted did come from somebody who asked the person giving the demo of the prototype at E3 apparently. Obviously nothing is written in stone in such a case, myself I try not to get too excited over any info that far as is my skeptical nature. To be honest, I found it kind of telling that they said "should" work with the harmony part as often with such things I find they will say should because they don't want to flat out say WONT as that is a negative and of course they try to avoid being as negative as possible displaying an upcoming item but it is definitely emulation or I assume it must be because the selector and toggle switches etc supposedly are selected using the interface and not physical buttons so yeah, I was also surprised to read that it "should" work with the harmony. As for $40 being the price I was quite surprised to hear that as well that is really low, I could see it being for one of the cheap Atgames handhelds but for the first 2600 compatible console? I would be very surprised, so double definitely sounds more realistic a price. Anyway we have to take all information up to the release with a grain of salt hope for the best, I am just hoping it has decent compatibility and minimal to no lag while playing, anything else would surely be icing on the cake. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
  6. OK some of you have posted the pics floating around, screw it I will add all mine again lol, Posted by Dr. Manhattan on Atariage, yes some images are duplicated but it seems he has been sourcing some info as well which I will include here. The case looks a bit rough but keep in mind it was a demo unit thrown together for E3. Honestly, if the look remains but smoothed out that is fine and also hopefully the info so far is very promising imho, for the price and the features will certainly be worth considering and buying may encourage more such devices for us classic gaming enthusiast. It certainly seems like something we have been clamoring for. Estimated $40 price point. Should work with Harmony cart. No release date yet. Currently does work with Harmony cart. This will remain pending legal dept approval. Has 4x3 and 16x9 modes. Has color & b/w modes Built around Stella emulator Will work with track balls, 3rd party controllers, etc. The USB port is for power. Considering making it open source based on what they've seen from the Atari community. No save states yet. Hardware is very early. Input lag doesn't seem to be a problem. Had a very good run in both Atari Pac-Man and Missile Command. For an early prototype it's a very impressive product.
  7. Yes that is what I fear, that it will work in the same manner as the Retron5 literally dumping cart content to a ROM for it's own emulator use. I suspect that will be the case. I also thought the Retron 3 which I have is junk in build quality though it DOES support flashcarts. I went for the RetroBit SuperRetroTrio though instead of the Retron5 because that not only plays nicely with all my Everdrives (Snes / Nes / Genesis) built is pretty good in the compatibility and even comes with a pretty nice stock controller.
  8. I am just hoping if it plays original carts it fully supports my HARMONY CART. IF NOT meh, I have enough 2600 compatible consoles and modded systems to support my 2600 games.
  9. Today's Colecovision is simply an a-hole who bought some Coleco ip, ie he is just in it for the money and cares nothing for the community or fan loyalty. Chris has no interest in forging relationships with Coleco fans, he claims he does but so far his actions reveal otherwise.
  10. Just a soothing bus ride to the mall. It is the one Double Decker on the line so I was top floor front of course! Had to go for a Dental Checkup last week (all was well) so I recorded the journey to the Mall. No Narration or anything just a sunny and calm ride I thought I would share with you all to let you know I AM still here. THANKS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xNw_efuVgw
  11. NOT MINE JUST SHARING FYI Atari owners owe this guy big time. Responsible for the 2600 Donkey Kong port and the amazing Keystone Kapers – Garry Kitchen dropped by Arcade Attack to set the record straight on more than a view things. A great read I’m sure you’ll agree, Adrian gives us the lowdown… http://www.arcadeattack.co.uk/garry-kitchen/

  18. Well have not done a video for ages BUT here is something quick I threw together for today. just a quick daily check in our recycling bin because tomorrow evening we may goet rainfall and flooding the likes we have not had in like 200 years. City is basically under State of Emergency due to predicted rainfall for tonight and tomorrow : See HERE Kelowna posted May 10, 2017 by KelownaNow Staff State of Emergency: Mayor of Kelowna asks residents to pull together for possible one in 200 year event. Flooding throughout the Central Okanagan has resulted in a number of Evacuation Alerts, Orders and road closures. The City of Kelowna, City of West Kelowna and the Fintry Delta in the Regional District of Central Okanagan declared a state of emergency on Saturday, May 6, 2017 due to flooding from various creeks spilling their banks in the Central Okanagan. With warm temperatures, rising freezing levels and 25-40 mm of rain forecast for Thursday, May 11, 2017 to Sunday May 14, 2017, rising water levels throughout the valley are a real concern. "Forecasts released on Monday could be predicting a one in 200-year event," said Shaun Reimer, Section Head, Public Safety and Protection. Mayor Colin Basran in the video below has encouraged Kelowna residents to prepare for rising water levels in local creeks and streams and to work together to help friends, family and neighbours during this flooding event." HONESTLY I hope they are wrong, I do not really expect to see floods appearing down our streets, at least I am hoping but who knows? When we first moved here years ago that summer we sustained the worst Fires that summer and thought "Geez is this normal here?" it wasn't really it was just timing. Anyway lights have flickered so there is also chance of power outages (which could be the worst part lol) so let's just hope it does not end up as bad as they suggest. Anyway, with all that said here is my quick silly little video, done mostly just to let my Youtube subscribers know I am at least still alive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awPfnEmBDiE&lc=z121v1jr3sqmg3xsd23ncvmzjtqmzhabb04 UPDATE ! Fortunately flooding in my area has not happened and currently it is more sunny than cloudy! Crisis averted! We are out of the danger. Surrounding cities / towns sadly had a much worse time.

  20. I am watching them, I "have" them all and have watched around 5 episodes at my leisure. I tried really hard to temper my expectations as excited as I was about it returning. I was not there for the initial run of the original series as I think the broadcasting was different here in Canada and only discovered it a few years ago but man I was hooked instantly. My first ever was Kitten With a Whip with Kevin / Bill / Mike and I quickly obtained every episode could obtain. Now, I have seen every original episode and some several times, I went back to watch the Joel episodes of course. I cannot say if it was because I started with MIKE era but I really go for those episodes more. Mike's run just entertained me more, Joel era was quite different and I appreciate the origins and creativity and will always be thankful to Joel for his creation and I have never been one to participate in any arguments on which era was "better" as I believe there is no right or wrong they are just different styles that appeal to different people. Anyway, as for the new season 11 I am trying to give it a chance for sure and I will watch them all, I loved some cameos and some of the fan service etc, I believe all involved really are trying but it just does not come together quite right, almost as this riffing is more just "saying stuff", what I mean is it does not always seem like well written comedy, some stuff just seems to be thrown out there for the sake of saying something. Now occasionally I will chuckle here or there or even think "Oh ok good one" with a certain riff but I don't think it has found it's stride yet, I HOPE they return for another run and find their footing. I really do not see myself watching any of the episodes I have seen thus far a second or even multiple times as i have done with many original episodes. Here is a good article regarding some things fans may of wondered that may be covered in another new season you guys might like - http://www.craveonline.com/entertainment/1248685-nine-things-need-know-new-mst3k#/slide/1 Oh and while I am at it FYI for any of you fans on FACEBOOK I have a MST3K group you might like to check out.
