  1. I am not the biggest fan of my Retron 3 but I LOVE my SuperRetroTrio by RetroBit. I find the emulation more accurate especially for the NES. Not my video (I have the same black and Silver model) plus the controllers it came with are decent and it works with all three of my Everdrives. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uu2bmABX7Xs
  2. I cannot say I officially collect Flashbacks. THIS is my only Atari Flashback and really it is the only one I want, I lost interest in later models mostly as I prefer using one of many various original 2600 consoles and compatibles. I DO have both the Colecovision and Intellivision Flashbacks but was very disappointed when they released with controllers NOT backwards compatible with the original consoles out of the box. I MIGHT consider future releases IF they correct the controller compatibility as well as improve emulation but more likely will just stick with original consoles and Flashcarts.
  3. Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan died earlier today at the age of 73. http://wrestlingnews.co/wwe-news/bobby-the-brain-heenan-has-passed-away/

      Sabertooth

Wow! One of the great villains and loudmouths of classic wrestling. RIP Weasel.

  4. Oh yeah man I use to just immerse myself in magazines like this, love it. I was hoping to find more but here is at least one on Internet archive. https://archive.org/details/OMNI197810
  5. http://deadline.com/2017/08/richard-anderson-dies-oscar-goldman-six-million-dollar-man-bionic-woman-actor-1202159362/ AH DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RIP Richard Anderson / Oscar Goldman
  6. NOT my video but certainly fascinating as to what could have been! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HNWDBqFm6M The Taito WOWOW: The Console That Never Was AE Redux Published on Feb 19, 2017 During the 16-bit era, a fierce battle was waged between Nintendo, Sega, and NEC, but did you know that Taito was considering entering the fray with a console of their own? In 1992, they announced the Taito WOWOW, a CD-based system that would make thorough use of satellite technology. The console never got past the prototype stage, but it's interesting to see Taito was floating such a system.
  7. Dammit! RIP Tobe Hooper First the man who invented the Zombie genre (Romero) and now the man who pretty much set the standard in slasher horror http://variety.com/2017/film/news/tobe-hooper-dead-dies-texas-chain-saw-massacre-poltergeist-director-dies-1202539868/
  8. And I agree as I pretty much stated right at the start of my post HOWEVER I was curious more about what people would personally list and indeed not only has everything listed been great choices but they also reflect the type of games each of us enjoy, as well I have been reminded of several titles I either forgot about or time or never tried the first time around and now have some to keep in mind the next time I feel like a 2600 fix.
  9. Re: Top 10 Atari 2600 Games - WAIT here me out, YES lists are stupid and pointless but I am just curious to see how everyone's compares and which titles seem to repeat or not Anyone "old" and grew up with Atari 2600 like me? Of course even if you didn't grow up with it or came to discover it much later in life you are welcome to list your top 10 favs! Off the top of my head I will go with - 1. Space Invaders. 2. Vanguard. 3. River Raid. 4. Pitfall. 5. Asteroids. 6. Kaboom ! 7. Keystone Kapers. 8. Demon Attack. 9. Super Breakout. 10. Missile Command. Good times, feel like I grew up through the history of gaming and still love it!
  10. Interesting! I certainly do not recall seeing one before!
  11. Funny thing that, while many assumed Flashback was the sequel to OUT OF THIS WORLD (it was so more in spirit only) the TRUE sequel was a SegaCD / MegaCD exclusive called Heart of the Alien, literally the true sequel as you can see. Just forward this video to the 4 min 34 sec mark to avoid lots of babble before that. The SegaCD contained the original game and the sequel but the original creator had nothing to do with it and it was not as good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlmxI2H6f5Q
  12. Oh there are other reason for sure though of course most do not compare with modern offerings but back in the day with my humble a500 and the RF modulator which had a composite out I played around with several video and titling programs making basic titles for my home VHS movies, art and animation with Deluxe Paint, listening to tunes with MOD players, viewing scene demos (mix of video and sound) for kicks. All nostalgic purposes for sure but the sound and graphics capabilities were amazing on that machine for the time. Great sounding and looking games kept me going for a long time before getting a 16 bit console like Snes or Genesis and found many of the titles that DID crossover onto Genesis still looked and sounded better on AMIGA though some of that was made for on consoles faster cartridge loading I admit.
  13. Top 10 AMIGA games. Well, certainly such lists are subjective and I am not saying all or any were exclusives, indeed some may have been better or more popular elsewhere but my fond memories of them originated on AMIGA so simply I will name 10 games that I highly enjoyed going back to those may years ago when I had original Amiga hardware. I will go with - 1. Lemmings 2. Stunt car Racer 3. SkidMarks 4. Turrican 5. The Chaos Engine 6. Battle Squadron 7. Zany Golf 8. Zenon II Megablast 9. The Secret of Monkey Island 10. Flashback To be clear, this was literally the first things that sprang to mind off the top of my head and could likely change dramatically from moment to moment and I could literally think of dozens if not hundreds more and that is not even including various PD / Shareware / Demos and well if I am honest tons and tons of pirated titles I traded for back in the day. Was such a wonderful platform.
  14. Excellent, it is the little aesthetic touches I love that can really make a system stand out but you know Justin this post comes with a extra benefit for me at least. I have several Colecovision controllers of various condition but I have a couple where that aluminum sticker on the top of the joystick (much like the 7800) is either very worn or damaged or in some cases entirely missing I I had been wondering for some time now HOW I can fix this and where would I even find aluminum stickers the exact size needed, Well looking out your parts list I see I can easily make them for myself!! Problem solved. THANKS. Hell I might do my 7800 controllers in the same fashion you outlined here as well, looks great and I always fine it cool to be just a little different than other people as you noticed people catch on pretty quick when something looks different form stock.
  15. http://www.alistdaily.com/strategy/inside-ataris-brand-revival/ In the article, their CEO admits the "Atari" company is just a brand management entity who is exploring licensing in all areas of "transmedia". I am skeptical AT BEST. Hope to be proven wrong.
  16. We got a dedicated thread I think you will appreciate. So far though not much to say outside of speculation and the current owners of Atari being more just copyright holders that whore out the name. Until we get past RENDERED IMAGES and vague specs we got nothing, here's hoping though. http://forums.atari.io/index.php/topic/3260-atari-box/?do=findComment&comment=33265
  17. You know I actually have TWO Atari Jr's. MAYBE I will clean them up and combine the two so that one is clearly the better looking / performing stock model and the left over second unit maybe I can consider doing some sort of "mod" , nothing fancy as I am not that skilled but if the case is more worn perhaps a paint job or something. Always wanted to try my hand at something like that and would rather do it on a spare Jr. than a 4 or 6 switch. Hmmmm......
  18. Just noticed this very moment, on the ATARIBOX website after the promotional video plays the thumbnails for related Ataribox videos THIS SHIT WRITES ITSELF !
  19. YES local service here in Kelowna. No celebration just repeat satisfied customers lol. Our stock had recently run out.
  20. Hey nice approach on this one lol. Honestly they DO get a lot of flack, yes much is warranted but I always thought eh, at least they tried something different. Really it was kind of the in thing of electronics of the time, much like the original ATARI 400 keyboard, a plastic membrane with pressure sensitive contacts underneath, maybe not exactly the same concept but seems similar to me, besides looking cool was it a good idea? Maybe not but they are certainly a product of their time. I actually been wanting to do more on these type of controllers, I have the Genesis and I think NES or SNES version of this controller and even another similar type for Colecovision which I think is by another company but still just a flat directional disc like these. They are definitely NOT something to use where you need sudden sharp pinpoint up / down / left / right turns (like say PAC MAN) BUT I find after some practice on certain types of multidirectional games they CAN actually be pretty good, at the very least they certainly are a unique way of playing. If I ever get around to it I want to try all these types of controllers like I mentioned on a variety of games, different types and genres from platform to action to puzzle games and see how they really play out. Someday.
