That was how I used my VCR to play Atari games in the 90's hooked up to a Commodore video monitor that used composite ports.

Right now I use a VCR to connect my game consoles to a coax jack only TV I inherited from my grandad.

Literally an Identical story, hooked up to a Commodore 1084s Monitor, man that picture quality was outstanding, so much so I watched my VCR and played my NES and Snes and any other composite output system on the Commodore monitor, I even HAD a 21-inch RCA but still choose to do 90% on my viewing on the little 14 inch 1084 monitor because the colour separation and sharpness just blew the RCA away.

It’s not an up close picture of it but it’s on the wood storage drawer.  I try to nab VCRs from our local Goodwill when I see them as we own a bunch of videos including a lot of Disney movies.  No remote but still plays like new.

Nice, as for the faux wood storage door pretty sure anyone who had a VCR had those types of drawers by default, I know I did. 😆

  3. Officially? If not app on the store not sure, the IOS ecosystem tends to be pretty locked down and emulation was typically accomplished through jailbreaking the device which was something I dabbled in years ago with early iOS devices but I think that has changed a lot and isn't as easy or even as desirable to do these days, it used to be a case of benefits outweighing the effort and pitfalls but I don't think that is the case any longer and certainly not something you'd want to do on your main device, IE it's more trouble than it's worth. But that is my limited knowledge these days, perhaps there is an easy and or safe way to manage it these days so hopefully someone with more knowledge about it chimes in as I am sure many here would be interested.

  4. In my youth, I worked at and eventually managed a video store. I had amassed quite a VHS collection. When we moved here to British Columbia 20+ years ago to save space in our 1 bedroom condo it was decided to sell off the collection. There were rarities and hard-to-find titles, in the end, they were all sold off to a family video store just starting and knowing they would be used to help stock a small store I pretty much let them all go for parcticallly give away prices, instead of hagling over them all it turned out to be practically a donation since I felt I had enjoyed them for years and felt good knowing they would not end up collecting dust on a collectors shelf but rather continue to be enjoyed by customers since much of the library would never be found at any of the "Big Brand" video rental stores.

Though I no longer have a VHS library of movies VHS format holds great nostalgia and memories for me and always will.

I've had many VCR over my lifetime but currently, I only own these two which I’ve held onto and were rescued from the recycling bins. The first is the older 2004 RCA model DRC6300N this one is solid and feels very heavy to lift. The second is the Toshiba model SDV296KC. This 2012 model is light as a feather and it’s amazing comparing the two, I like them both because they are DVD players/VCR recorders (they do not record to DVD) I don’t have the original remotes for however, I can use most of the functions with the front controls or by using one of various programmable or Multi remotes on hand. In a pinch I could program one of my harmony remotes for it as well. For any VHS needs they work well, though I don't have a collection of movies any longer, I do like to dabble with recordings and creating some retro editing projects as well as using the tuners for various gaming old consoles.

The ATC Newsletter is published once a month. It contains a wealth of information concerning the ColecoVision, Coleco Adam, accessories and games. The Print Ready version is laid out so you can print all the odd pages and then print all the even pages on the backs of the odd pages. Once that is done you can fold the pages in half and staple to get a nice booklet that you can save. If you would like to participate in the newsletter use one of the options above or the forum to contact us.

Oh man, I'm glad you posted this.  It's so dang close to my main NUC desktop.  I haven't gamed a bunch on this thing, but everything I have tried has run smoothly.  I'm actually surprised that the Intel Arc A730 has a slightly higher score than the 3050TI.  Given a margin of error, I'm sure they are actually about the same.

Hopefully your return goes smoothly, as it's no good to have a high end laptop you don't trust.

I suspect being a 3050TI Mobile that even in dedicated gaming mode there is still enough thermal throttling taking place to hinder the results, I mean it certainly runs everything seemingly smoothly regardless of the task but yeah regardless of setting, tweaking, optimizing we've experienced a surprising number of bluscreens, some of the errors shown seem to suggest Nvidia GPU issues at that, I rolled back the drivers, updated drivers, even did a factory reset just to be sure only to have it bluescreen again shortly after getting everything set back up. Pissed about it all. AND OF COURSE during this whole back and forth with Costco and Asus for a couple of weeks now and still waiting to hear back, I factory set it AGAIN, spent the whole day setting everything back up, and....so far it's been stable, even purposely benchmarking and stressing it and it's been solid, so much so if I am honest I want to just cancel the return process BUT I KNOW the moment I do that it will suddenly throw up another Bluescreen and we will be back to square one. Sadly Asus has become very unreliable, once very reliable and trusted it began last year when some high-end motherboards began burning out CPU's and get this, Asus released an updated patched BIOS to fix the issue but said flashing it would void your warranty! After much bad press and backlash, they rolled that back but by then the damage was done and many sponsored reviews dropped Asus since then if you do some searching you will see they have just dropped off significantly, with reviews from end users with nothing but complaints, bad customer service, returns not being serviced properly or receiving the back same product and they refuse to replace instead fixing or replacing with other used parts etc. Of course, I didn't learn about any of this until after the fact and then I just hoped this being a 2022 model we had just got lucky with one they produced while they were still more reliable but it's not looking like that.
