  1. I've moved around so many times there's a lot of boxes in the garage that haven't been touched since I moved into this house 5 years ago. While going through one of them I came across this Game Boy I didn't even remember having. It was in a black velcro case with a few cords, a few instruction manuals inside including Wheel of Fortune, an NBA game, and a couple other sports games. My grandparents, who have since passed, loved going to garage sales which is where the Game Boy came from. It doesn't seem to work any longer but it's still cool to have. Got it to work, it just needed a little help  🙂

I had never heard that one until I read your post, Gianna. That would have been interesting, to say the least. I don't know how feasible it would be to do it, but it's interesting anyway.

They made the 2600 adapter for the 5200, so they were going to do the same for the 7800. I don't think they wanted 5200 owners to feel left out when the system was canceled so soon! 😣

  3. I did a little more research and here is what I found:

On May 21, 1984, during a press conference at which the Atari 7800 was introduced, company executives revealed that the 5200 had been discontinued after just two years on the market. Total sales of the 5200 were reportedly in excess of 1 million units, far short of the Atari 2600’s sales of over 30 million.

A May 22, 1984 article by David E. Sanger of the New York Times entitled "Atari Video Game Unit Introduced" (P.3 Section D) states:

    Quote

The new product, which Atari calls the 7800 Prosystem, will sell for $149 and appears to be a replacement for the company's current top-of-the-line machine, the 5200. Company officials disclosed for the first time yesterday that the 5200 is no longer in production, and Atari appears to be selling off its inventory.

I guess that’s the answer, no matter what happened with Warner and the Tramiels, Atari was killing off the 5200. It’s crazy to think a game system could come and go in 18 months!

  4. Before the Tramiels showed up, does anybody know what Warner Communications Atari was going to do with the 5200 in 1984 after the 7800 would've come out? Were they going to keep developing games?

They were going to release a 7800 cartridge adapter so 5200 players could upgrade. It's crazy to think that the 5200 died 18 months after it came out. I'm wondering what other plans they had?

  5. I agree.

I remember when the Game Boy Advance SP was the coolest thing. I had the regular Game Boy Advance, it was no where as cool and I remember the screen was not back lit so seeing it was difficult. I bought a Switch around Christmas and I love it. It feels like a more modern DS minus the double screen mixed with the Wii.  I prefer playing it connected to the tv but I love that it is portable also. Not long ago I discovered two Nintendo downloads that include NES and Super NES games. Although it's not the same as playing them on the original consoles, they've been fun and I've discovered some I've never heard of.

That Aerosmith coaster at the Disney Studios is awesome!  I like that one a lot too.  My only complaint is that it's too short.  I do like that it has both a loop and the corkscrew.  I'll say it's my second favorite.

I think my favorite is the California Screaming coaster at Disney's California Adventure.  It's not too intense, it has one loop, and it's really long and smooth.  Plus, it's now themed to "The Incredibles", which makes it even better.

I used to really love the Florida "Space Mountain", but the last few times I rode, it felt pretty rough.  I do love the single-file cars though.

Space Mountain in California is even better.  They re-built the track about 10 years ago and it's now super smooth and fast.  No jostling at all.

This is a fun topic.  I love roller coasters.  But I'm with you on the ones that are too intense....no thank you!  One of my kids, though, loves those.  So everybody has different likes.  He'll drag me on a few of the big ones at Magic Mountain or Knott's or Cedar Point.  I can take a few, but usually have to stop.

I think one that really looks cool that I'd love to try is the "Tron" coaster at one of the Asian Disney parks.  I think it's coming to Florida!  So I'll be all over that one.

I agree, you wait in line forever and it goes by so quickly! I remember last time I went to HS and rode it (I had a fast pass) I wanted to go on again and ended up getting in the regular line right away and waited 2 hours or something. Last time I went on a Disney trip I wanted to go on nearly everything (I have yet to go on Tower of Terror as I am scared of drop rides lol) and waited in line for maybe an hour for the Barnstormer which lasted like 20 seconds. I remember it used to be longer but they shortened it to make room for another Dumbo ride.

That one looks so fun! One day I would love to go to Disneyland. There's a lot of rides there I would love to go on. I'd really like to go back to Disney in Orlando, I haven't been since early 2017 which is too long for me 😅 I would like to get one of the annual passes, I live just over 3 hours or so away and the pass would be beneficial.

That's good to know! I agree on Space Mountain here, it is pretty rough and if you watch a video of it with the lights on the track looks quite rickety

I've never been to any of those parks, but I've watched "vlogs" before of Knott's and it looks fun. I like roller coasters but the ones with massive drops I am too freaked out to go on! I went on some intense ones at Universal in Orlando and was not only shaking during them but also lost my voice for a day or two after 😆

Yes, I saw that they're building that in Magic Kingdom! Just in the past few years so much has been added.

  7. Hello everyone! 👋🏻

With summer coming up (and that being a popular time for amusement parks) I thought it would be interesting to ask what favorite rollercoaster you guys have! Well, if you do anyway!

I love the Aerosmith rollercoaster at Hollywood Studios, I think that would be my favorite. I love Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain at Disney as well ☺️ I don’t like heights too much or big drops, so the Disney rides are perfect for me! I went to Busch Gardens a few years ago and everything was too intense for me 😅

Both of you have hit a nail on the head.  There is a lot of bullying and negativity that goes on in the video game world that is really uncalled for and completely unnecessary.  That magazine I was a part of had members that would get harassed bad but nothing was ever done about it.  Those people left.  I have not heard from them since.

That's why I like it here...no bullying or anything of the sort.  We are all good sports and win or lose enjoy a great played game. As much that goes on in this world you would think none of that would carry over to video games, online or not, but it is there...unfortunately.  I, personally, would love to see an end to it.

I totally agree with you! It's nice coming on here and seeing everyone get along and have fun. I feel like any other website or forum I have gone on that involves some sort of interest people are always arguing with each other and overall the community can be quite unnecessarily mean. I love how everyone on here gets along and is NICE!  😄

I've been studying how my videos are doing on YouTube.  All of my videos, except for 3, barely make 50 views.  Those videos include the game play videos on older consoles, modern consoles, and computer games including the trucking simulator games.  What surprises me are the two videos with the most watches.  Both are on the Wii.  Monster Truck Mayhem on my channel has the most views at 4.2k, second is the Family Fun Football at 999 views, and my 3rd one is me playing Star Raiders on my 5200 on Pilot Mission.  It's over 1,000 views.

I'm trying to understand my viewers so I can create videos that interests them.  My channel, however, is also for doing videos for high scores.  It's my proof-positive for scores I make.

I’ll check out your channel once I’m done working (from home!) today. I’m interested in the truck videos and I haven’t played the monster truck game on wii in FOREVER so it’ll be fun to watch. 😌
