  1. Oh. OK. I thought it was around then. Interesting.
  2. Wait a minute. Didn't Jack Tramiel take over Atari in 1984 or 1985? I think it was in 1984.
  3. Oh, yeah. The A5200 was created before Tramiel took over, wasn't it? My bad.
  4. That wouldn't surprise under Tramiel. He would save a penny to lose a dollar.
  5. I wish Total Carnage, although a great Jag port already, was 60 frames per second. It would have looked a lot better and had less choppy movement. I think that hurt it.
  6. Until I saw this post, I didn't know Tears for Fears ever broke up or had any differences. Nice to hear they are returning. :O)
  7. You'd think someone could improve the controls in Karateka for the A7800. It would be a nice thing to do. I wouldn't mind playing it if it had improved controls. That would be fun then. I did some research, and Jordan Mechner is the creator of Karateka. It's a cool game and I think it was remade in HD in 2011. it has better graphics and they look polygonal in appearance. It's on Wikipedia where I found that info. Pretty cool remake, and Jordan Mechner was in behind the remake's development.
  8. I remember playing Karateka on the Atari 8-bit computer in my teens. The controls takes a little getting used to. It's different, I will say that. I have it for the A8 and A7800. I don't play it very often, but maybe I should try it sometime. Interesting game. Was Jordan Mechner the creator of Karateka? I think he was. He also did Prince of Persia.
  9. This is true about the graphics. I thought Alien Brigade was great and I have it in my A7800 collection. :O)
  10. I use the A2600 only if I have to play a game for it that doesn't have compatibility with the A7800 somehow. I have a Supercharger cartridge, for instance. It works best with the A2600. Plus, I have the Stella Gets a New Brain CD and tapes for the cartridge. But, I mostly use the A7800 consoles I own (I have two) for gaming for both systems. It's more advanced and almost completely backwards-compatible with the A2600 without a separate adapter. So, the A7800 is more versatile. Plus, it has great games the A2600 doesn't have. So, the A7800 is definitely my choice.
  11. I think the nod for Touchdown Football was a joke, Justin. :O) I am glad to see Midnight Mutants rated so high on the list. It's a very good RPG-like game. Kind of a combo of Zelda I and II, but with different characters. :O)
  12. I have this game, and I have beaten it before. It is one of the better games for the A7800. I have always liked it. It's pretty difficult, though. Yup. Great game. :O)
  13. I got my first A7800 console on Christmas of 1987. I had Xevious and, of course, Pole Position II. Those were my first games for that console. I was upset because I thought I didn't get it for that year. Sure enough, my Dad hid it on me. Being the 13-year-old I was, I became overjoyed when it was revealed and forgot my anger. I even hugged the box. I think I still have that system to this very day. It still works. I have two A7800s now, and almost all the retail games for the console. I bought one at the Savers thrift store for under $10.00 then. My favorite game as a kid for the A7800 was Food Fight. I can easily score over 8,000,000 points and make it to Level 125. It stays that level after that forever once you get high enough. Fun system. Thanks for letting me share. :O) NOTE: I had known about the A7800 since about 1984 or 1985. I read about it in a computer magazine I saw lying around.
  14. I don't think it would be costly, really. But, would it be viable? That I don't know.
  15. I don't think anyone else has attempted it. Just Atari themselves. Cortina never left the prototype stage.
  16. There was going to be a Web adapter called Cortina for the Jag. So, I think a modem would have been in the works from Atari anyway. So, entirely possible. Yes.
  17. Especially if David Crane would have produced them for the 7800. That would have been an achievement for sure.
  18. That would be nice, considering. I wish they would revive Black Ice/White Noise for the Jaguar, too. That would be really cool as well. But, BJ West won't revive his BI/WN project. Oh, well, just wishful thinking. :O)
  19. One could recreate the Minnie chip on an FPGA or CPLD, however that works. I wouldn't know how to do that, but it is possible that way.
  20. This is true. The music and SFX were pretty paltry on the A7800. The games were pretty good, though.
  21. It looks like American Hero has been released on Windows by gog.com. Interesting stuff. Thanks for letting me share. :O)
  22. Also, Ziggurat Games are rehashing the FMV game "American Hero" for the PC and consoles. This was a lost game which was going to be made for the Atari Jaguar CD unit. I hope they make a limited edition for the Atari Jaguar CD. Interesting stuff. :O)
  23. I think it would be great to see these games on the A7800. They might graphically put the NES versions to shame, but I don't know either. Just a wish, anyway. :O)
  24. I just looked at it. I am glad it's still there, because I never knew this existed. Thanks for posting this. :O)
