  1. Retro emulating retro. Interesting concept. :O)
  2. I also have a Pioneer DVD recorder with a 160 GB hard drive. It's normally worth around $300.00, but I got it for around $11.00 from a thrift store in my area. It works great, too. It also has like five or six video inputs in it. :O)
  3. I have a couple of VCRs. I also have a plethora of VHS tapes in my collection. I have a video capture device to capture old home movies and such, but they will be low quality. But, on the flip-side, I am hoping VHS collections will go up in value. That would be cool. :O)
  4. I have an Amiga 2000 in storage. I had bought it from a thrift store here in the States for only about USD$7.50. Believe it or not, that's true! They obviously didn't know what they had, and I got it at that steal of a price. It should still work, too. I haven't used it in years and it has composite video in the back, which means it did something with TV at some point. It does not have a keyboard or a mouse, but I turned it on one time and it was working. It's a great addition to my collection. :O)
  5. Well, we may never know what the Mirai could have been. It could have been the Super XE Atari was thinking about marketing, but we don't know. There are theories abounding about a possible joint venture between Atari and Neo•Geo creator SNK, but no one knows at this time. We may never know. I was watching a video on YouTube about the Mirai. It's interesting. Thanks.
  6. I didn't see the video yet, but I assume it would have had a 65816 CPU, similar to the Lynx. That, if I reckon, is 16-bit.
  7. Interesting stuff. Thanks for posting. They should have run with this at Atari. It could have been a game change if done right. Does this Mirai prototype work? Or, is it just a mockup?
  8. I know Brad at Best can repair Jaguar consoles, too. He's good at it. Sorry. I forgot to mention him. :O)
  9. I see. Battlemorph is a great game and what Cybermorph should have been. Anyway, a good rule of thumb is this. I always take the CD unit off of the Jag when I am not playing it for a while. I like to preserve my CD unit, and that is supposed to help it last longer from what I heard from a friend of mine. So far, it rings true for me. It works great. I also have two Jags and two CD units in need of repairs and fine-tuning. Crossface Gaming is one place I want to look into, or Dragon's Hoard, but the money isn't there at the moment. They are experts in fixing those systems. :O)
  10. Yeah, they are quite flaky for sure. Baldies is pretty cool, especially the FMV sequences. They're actually quite funny. :O) The JagGD cartridge uses an SD card not only to read ROMs, but can do CD emulation to a point. But, you need to convert the game to CDI and then JCD to run it on the cartridge. There is a application tool for that, but the CD emulation isn't perfect yet. However, SainT at RetroHQ is working on that. Not all JCD-formatted CD games work on the cartridge yet, but I think Baldies and Dragon's Lair both work on the JagGD cartridge. This is the closest thing to an ODE the Jaguar has, so far anyway. Not only that, it's scarce and expensive to buy: about USD $200.00. The price includes shipping and handling. You're right about one thing, though. The CD unit does look weird. It look like a toilet seat, hence the famous nickname for it. Thanks for letting me share. :O)
  11. This is great news. I hope it works out well. Also, welcome to the Forums, Chubbz.
  12. Interesting. Thanks for sharing this. I didn't know Atari made these. Dazzling stuff. :O)
  13. Is the enamel set entirely in plastic, or do the pins have a pewter frame? Looking nice, by the way. Thanks for sharing, and welcome to the forum. :O)
  14. Interesting stuff, these new carts for the A2600. In my opinion, they should have made the new Atari VCS with some kind of removable media, like a cartridge or optical media. Because, what if the companies who make this online content go out of business? How would they get the online content to people then. Even an SD card drive would be nice with games in it. One thing they are doing that's good though: these carts are physical. Something that is tangible. Something about virtual bothers me. It's cool and all, but you can't hold it in your hands a like a CD, DVD, or cartridge. I wonder if there is a way to save DLC on a VCS with something. Something that can be backed up. I think this virtual online media could be the Achilles' heel of the VCS. This is just my opinion, that's all. Thanks for letting me share. :O)
  15. We have a Roomba in our house, too. It's interesting. We had to replace the battery on it at least once. Older one. I can't remember the model number. :O)
  16. I always thought Fatal Run was RoadBlasters renamed for the A7800. The similarities are there. RoadBlasters was for the arcades first, wasn't it?
  17. Oh. OK. I always thought the SC needed modification. Thanks for clarifying. :O)
  18. I thought the SuperCharger cartridge needed to be modified itself before it could be used on the A7800. Not the console itself. Interesting. I thought it was an internal issue in the cartridge, not a problem with fitting.
  19. The Neo-Geo is indeed amazing. It could produce perfect arcade graphics. That was because the arcade versions of the games were mainly SNK's to begin with. The architectures were the same because SNK owned both their arcade titles and the titles for the home. Great way to market it, by the way. I guess you could even save the games using a card from the Neo-Geo and play the saved home game on the arcade game. They would have to be the same title, of course. Brilliant. :O)
  20. I think I have this game for my A8. It was a groundbreaker, for sure. :O)
  21. My favorite sequel is probably Super Mario World. It looks better than the other first SMB games. :O)
  22. I guess it is more difficult to make an optical disc emulator (ODE) because of the RISC architecture of the Jaguar. That's for sure. I have not seen an update for Virtual Jaguar in years. I don't know if they are still updating it or not. Anyway, I hope they can study it more closely and create a better emulator for it.
  23. Well, physically speaking, the stock MSTE has a VME bus for a graphics card, but only if the card is VME-compatible. I think the MSTE has a faster CPU and it has Blitter. Plus, it has an internal HDD. But, I don't know all the specifications for it off-hand.
