  1. The one annoying thing about Demon Attack is that there is no pause. You finish one wave, and the next starts like in 0.5 seconds. But the most annoying thing is when you die in the middle of the screen, and the demon that killed you is still sitting on top of you when you new cannon appears. I died 2 or 3 times in like a 2 second span.
  2. Thanks for the recommendation @CrossBow! Yes, I did buy from Shawn when he offered buy 2 get 1.
  3. Me, too. Those are the toughest. They're so much smaller than the other demon types.
  4. 46,515 Just when I thought 50k was in sight, 💥 Hubris, my friend, hubris. This game is tough. Those guided missiles/lasers!
  5. Two of my favorite YouTubers, Dave Sundstrom and @nosweargamer, are both in Utah -- coincidence? They both have this sorta laid back delivery and tone. Might be the same person with two channels and personas. One channel covers pop TV culture from 60s, 70s, and 80s and the other covers geek culture from the same time periods -- you know, the good stuff.
  6. @nosweargamer I don't know how you do what you do (as a content creator) on top of your personal, family, and job obligations. I barely manage being entertained by you and playing a few Atari games. Edit: And I haven't had a chance to listen to your 7800 podcasts yet
  7. The blocky players always reminded me of cartoon illustrations of football players from way back like the 60s, but I see where you're coming from, Rick -- very close resemblance 🤣
  8. I'm surprised that I never associated playing certain games with the time of the year 🤔 With this giveaway, I am going to fix that. I'm going with American football 🏈 and will play the original Football for the 2600 in all its 4 on 4 smash mouth glory. It'll be a new tradition. I haven't played it since the early 80s. I also picked up Backyard Football from GoodDealGames recently, and this gives a very good reason to play it.
  9. 41,155 Woot! Broke 40k rather unexpectedly, jumping past the previous high mark of 27k from earlier today. Once you survive the two "donut" waves as Rick called them, reaching 20k isn't too tough.
  10. No offense taken. I actually don’t even remember the story, but I love the character design and that’s why I’m a fan. And I like Tim Burton’s work with animated movies.
  11. That’s awesome @Dinobot711! I love Jack. I think I need to get one myself.
  12. That sounds fun, Harry. With Halloween coming up, Haunted House deserves to be played. But I may only last a minute or two before I start feeling a headache.
  13. MC, if you want to play third-party 2600 cartridges on the 7800 and don't want to mess with the 7800 hardware, you gotta get the Lock-on 2600. I had tight fit issues with 2600 Activision cartridges on my 7800, and there was no way Demon Attack would fit. But this little adapter makes it buttery nice and smooth.
  14. @Dinobot711 what are you wearing? I think we need a photo of your pants 😆🙃 Great score!
  15. 27,130 Hey, I got a shout-out during NSG's live stream -- woohoo! Every time I crop and edit the photo, I love the scan lines and the glow. Looks very clean on the actual TV but in the photos, the bright parts are fuzzy and glowy and makes me feel warm inside.
  16. Oh boy... don't get so amped up, Harry. I'd hate to disappoint you. It's nothing amazing but just something you don't have. 🙂
  17. 24,585 I played Demon Attack once or twice a few months ago and liked it. I'm glad this squad challenge is giving me reason to play it everyday. I started out using the Starplex controller thinking that pressing buttons might help me react faster, but the arcade joystick (the buttons are lit) is working out great and that's what I've been using the last couple of days.
  18. Haha yes! When I was explaining my giddiness to my wife, I told her that he designed the USB interface, something even a non-techie consumer like her could relate to.
  19. 22,305 About a 1% improvement 🙄 but improvement nonetheless so I'll take it 🙃 My main strategies after the initial few waves are: Target the two demons that are not firing on your cannon. Avoid the demon firing on you and go for the other two demons. You gain no additional points for eliminating the demon attacking your cannon, so don't take on unnecessary risk. Survive, baby! Split the demon firing on you in half to reduce the width or spread of the barrage and then focus on shooting down the other demons as much as possible. Shoot down the diving kamikaze-style demons as they are worth more points. Don't let them get away.
  20. Yes, he is a great guy and seems to love engaging folks and sharing his knowledge and experiences. While I've been an Atari fanboy my entire life, I knew none of the names behind the hardware except Nolan Bushnell. Only earlier this week, I learned about Joe Decuir through a post on Facebook (someone had asked who he was). After googling him, I commented in the thread that I also worked at Microsoft on Windows during the last three years of Joe's stint there as the thought that I may have walked past him without knowing was exciting to me. Joe replied to my post and told me to look him up on LinkedIn, and we continued our conversation there. Turns out he's a prof at University of Washington Bothell campus where my eldest is attending school. I also went to UWB and finished half of the courses for a CS degree before dropping out. Joe lives about 40 minutes from me and invited me to meet up with him when this pandemic dies down a bit. The little kid in me is very excited for that opportunity when it comes. The other funny thing is that a few weeks ago, a "Joe Decuir" had sent me a Facebook friend request. Not knowing him, I ignored the request and simply forgot about it. After chatting with him, I vaguely remembered someone with a similar name sending me a friend request. I went back to see the list of friend requests, and sure enough, he had sent a request to me (I'm not sure why he did unless he has a habit of connecting with everyone who loves Atari). This year just has been a whirlwind for me and my reconnecting with all things Atari after a thirty year separation.
  21. Ah~ that makes sense because the file name says Activision. I was wondering about that. 👍
  22. 22,030 I think that'll be it for tonight as I'm heading out with my wife to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of her delivering boy number 1 and me feeling pretty useless and nervous. The said boy is going out with his friends tonight for a semi-surprise birthday party/dinner/gathering. EDIT: I noticed that the rom I used to post my first score had a different typeface from the screen shots posted by others. This one was shot using the actual cartridge. I think I'll try the rom that Justin posted next.
  23. @Sabertooth who is GCC? I also love the Imagic boxes. I have the same ones except Solar Storm.
