I meant to post this when I picked it up: '23 VW ID.4 Pro S. I am coming from the total loss of my 2015 MINI Cooper S 4-door hardtop. I was a bit skeptical stepping into an SUV as I've been partial to small hatches most of my adult life. It's definitely the biggest car I've had and its taken some getting used to. But ultimately my recent accident and practicalities of a growing family are driving me to a bigger vehicle. A month in, it's been a great car so far. Here are some thoughts:

    - I'm impressed with the range (275 on a charge) and DC fast charge speeds (80 % in 30 minutes).

    - Some of the software tech is undercooked, but integration with Android auto is seamless. The MyVW app for climate, defrost, and charging is less sophisticated than the app from my 2011 LEAF. It gets the job done though.

    - There are some nifty automated parking and drive assist features that I'm pretty wowed by. It does a great job getting into spaces that I would probably pass on. We are taking a road trip to Joshua Tree this month and I'm curious to see some of the cruise features that I don't have a need for in my daily commute.

    - The Pro S trim is really well appointed. It feels like a luxury car in this trim.

    - That the huge VW logo on the front and back light up is a little corny, but I kinda like it.

    - It's made in Tennessee where they used to make the Passat.

    - I wish we had more color options in the States. Its grey, silver, white, black, blue and red. They didn't have red in the trim I wanted and the blue only comes with a white interior. Ultimately I picked a pearlescent white over the matte gray. The gray looked cool, but screams 2024. White never ages on cars. Of course, if we had the yellow they get in Europe, I would have got that in a heartbeat.

If you're in the market for an SUV, crossover or EV, I recommend putting it on your shopping list. I cross shopped against similar cars from Hyundai, Kia, Subaru, Tesla, Audi (sister car) and Polestar, and the VW came out ahead for my situation.

    I love it.  Great review.

    Who remembers the short-lived ActionMax?

My set is incomplete, and I've got it listed for sale locally for cheap.

An update to share on this.  I listed this locally, and sold it to a guy THAT HAD 3 TAPES AND THE GUN ONLY!  Perfection!  Every time a set gets reunited like this, a nerd angel gets their heavenly pocket protector.

  3. THANK YOU to all that participated in this first "Lets all play" event.  I had a lot of fun with the Irem games and I hope you did too.

I'm going to have to shelve this series temporarily due to personal issues that need my time and focus.  But if anyone else would like to choose a next game and start the ball rolling, I'm willing to help with the initial post and such.

We will eventually get back to this.  In the meantime, don't forget to share any of your retro adventures on the Evercade in our club.

Does anyone here have the Hyper Mega Tech Super Pocket version?  My question is whether these small systems do the cartridge updates.  Since I only have the orig Evercade handheld, I don't get any updates.  Boy would I love to get auto fire for some of these arcade games.

I found my answer on Facebook.  The super pocket does NOT have wifi and will not do updates of all games.  However, it's newer firmware does contain updates for some existing games and WILL update those.  And once you update a cart, those updated features are available on the orig Evercade.

Wow, I didn't expect anyone to get it so fast.  Oh, and that video you posted... HILARIOUS!  I'm still laughing!

The Simpsons - a season 7 episode "Bart Sells His Soul", which first aired in 1995.  Classic.  It is funny from the "I. Ron Butterfly" part all the way to "you too, Snitchy".

The show is still being produced, which is amazing to me.

  7. Here is some great information about use of an SD card from Facebook user "Mark McCabe" in the "Atari Gamestation Pro" group.

Using an SD Card in the GameStation Pro

    • From what I have read, the SD Micro card should be formatted to exFAT according to most users, some say FAT32 will work too I know for certain exFAT does work..
    • Top level folder should be named "Games" (the first letter must be a Capitol G or it won't work).
    • If you have Firmware version V1.30 (or higher) Gamestation will support subfolders, if you have the original V1.20 it will not.
    • in V1.30 and above. pressing the Home and Start button at the same time allows you switch to the SD card games menu, while pressing Home returns you to the internal games menu. If you have the original V1.20 you need to cycle power and go through the normal startup menu method.
    • Suggested replacements for the OEM joysticks are the XBox1 or XBox PRO controllers.

    Supported ROM Files

    • .a26 - Atari 2600 Should play pretty much all # **
    • .a52 - Atari 5200 May not play many of them #
    • .a78 - Atari 7800 Should play all
    • ,gb - Game Boy (Black and White)
    • .gba - Game Boy Advanced
    • .gbc - Game Boy Color
    • .bin - Sega Genesis just rename any .md files to .bin (they are the same)
    • .sms - Sega Master System only with firmware 1.30 or higher
    • .nes - NES (Nintendo Entertainment System)
    • .sfc - Super Nintendo only with firmware 1.30 or higher***
    • MAME - Circa 2000 Arcade ROMS seem to work best Leave them in zipped format on the SD card. Archive.org has a selection of them. One youtuber recommends
    • the 0.139 archive.
    • .pce - TurboGraphic16 PC engine games only with firmware 1.30 or higher***

    • Notes: ** In V1.30 they added paddle support to the 2600 SD card games. Make a subfolder named "Atari 2600 Paddle" and put the 2600 games that require the paddle functionality into that folder and the paddles will work.
    • Notes: *** These games have issues with the controller due to button mapping. Hopefully in the next update they will allow users to remap their controllers to support these games better.
    • Notes: # Many of these games when downloaded are in name.bin format as that is what some emulators expect. You can rename these, Foe example you can rename an atari 2600 name.bin file to name.a26 and it will work in the GameStation Pro just fine.

This is funny, but I'll be honest with you.  I haven't driven a car with a manual transmission in probably 30 years.  My first new car was a 1990 Honda with a 5 speed, and I don't think I've touched one since.  I have a feeler out for a 79 Celica that has a manual, and I don't want to embarrass myself when I go test drive it.  🙂

I've added the link to the AA forums where Bob released his STL files for his 3D printable shell replacement for the 7800.

Thanks very much!  It is easy enough to put an STL file into a CAD program and add the proper cutouts.

The main issue I see is finding a 3D printer that can print something so large.  Not to buy, but to use as a service.  I will check it out.
