  1. Thank you. That was on my list of things to consider. I may have to save up for one of those, but it sure looks like it's worth it.
  2. I started with the #1 table, which has a circus theme. The game is fun, but the circus visuals and sounds are a little too creepy to me. I'll go with the Stones n Bones one next. Thanks!
  3. OMG, this sounds like a Twilight Zone story.
  4. That dental machine is pretty wild. Someone on the engineering team must have been a video game fan.
  5. FINALLY! I've wanted one of these for a loooooong time. Check it out! It came with the Pinball Fantasies game and two controllers (I already had Cybermorph). Isn't she a beaut? If anyone has carts to sale or trade, please let me know!
  6. I got a PS3!

PSN account is free and needed if you want to buy stuff from the store. PS Plus is what you need for online gaming, and that's a paid subscription.

GTA is a highly regarded series. I haven't played any of the GTA games.

I initially thought GTA 4 would be too violent for my taste...but the story kind of sucks you in.  It feels like our hero is "reluctantly" violent.  That gives it depth that I wasn't expecting.

GTA IV is actually more "tamed" than 3 was.  I haven't beat it but what I have played of it I enjoyed.  If you like GTA then definitely keep an eye out for any Saint's Row games.  3, 4, and Gat out of Hell are the better ones in the series.  And I would recommend GTA 5 if you liked 4.

Of course, if you like driving games, there's some sort of law that says you can't have a PlayStation without picking up Gran Turismo.  I had GT5 and was blown away!  I have ModNation Racers.  It's kind of along the lines of Mario Kart except you can build your own race tracks.  You use to be able to share your creations online but I think Sony shut those servers down.  I had a blast with that one as well.

I tried a demo to Uncharted once.  It was fun but I never had a PS3 long enough to get those. I wanted to try The Last of Us because it looked like it would be good but I missed it.  Yep...the PS3 when I had one was a great console.  I only went with XBOX 360 because when I tried to get another PS3 (while they were still in production) no one had one locally.  All I could find was a 360.

  7. A PS3 that I got for free. It's beat up, but seems to work fine.
  8. Nice job everyone! Especially @Marco1019, @AtariSphinx, and @Justin. Donkey Kong on NES is fantastic. But I wonder why they skipped that pie factory level?
  9. Here are my purchase notes on my Vectrex. Vectrex 02/10/13 $170.00 AtariAge – with multi-cart. I remember it being a spendy deal back then, but boy does it look like a bargain now. My Vectrex works fine, but I've never done a thing to it. I know that the power/volume switch is dirty. I leave the switch "on" and use a power strip to turn it on/off and it works fine. If I turn the knob off, it will sometimes take about 5 minutes to actually turn on again. I know I should probably have the thing recapped completely, clean out the power switch, and do the buzz-off kit. I remember when they came out and wanting one really badly. But I could not afford it then, and I was never able to find one in the clearance bin during the crash.
  10. Same story here. I have the VecMulti, the Jason Kopp, and also a really old multi-cart that's from England (not the Sean Kelly one). When I get my Vectrex out, I'll create a separate thread where we can all post pics of what we have. I think that sounds like fun.
  11. I got the same Kopp Vectrex Multicart many months ago. I printed a 3D case for it, but I haven't ever tried it! It's because my Vectrex is packed away. I need to remedy that. Anyway, Jason Kopp is a good guy, and he'll get back to you. I think he's stated he's a bit shocked at the demand level for this cart. Give it time, he'll reply soon.
  12. RE: "PETSCII Robots" and the lack of color on the Atari port. In his video, he explains that he and the developer that did the port decided to use text mode for the game (as that's what all the other versions use), and the Atari cannot do multi-color text. It's a limitation I remember from when I first got my 800XL (upgraded from a VIC-20). That's why I'm going to go with the C64 version.
  13. I had a much better experience with the wireless Retron controller. 32,000. I will try again later.
  14. And here is my garage desktop made up of a bunch of leftover parts. UserBenchmarks: Game 11%, Desk 71%, Work 10% CPU: Intel Core i7-3770S - 74.3% GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 640 - 7.5% SSD: Transcend SSD370 128GB - 66.5% HDD: WD Green 1.5TB (2010) - 45.6% RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 C10 2x8GB - 58.2% MBD: Dell Vostro 270
  15. I know they've updated the benchmark because it looks a little different. My scores are a bit lower than before even though I have no hardware changes. UserBenchmarks: Game 37%, Desk 88%, Work 31% CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K - 90.3% GPU: AMD R9 285 - 34% SSD: Intel 600p Series NVMe PCIe M.2 512GB - 126.5% HDD: HGST Deskstar NAS 4TB - 86% RAM: Kingston HyperX DDR4 2400 C12 4x8GB - 72.1% MBD: Asus STRIX H270F GAMING
  16. How about a twist plot for a new version of the Twilight Zone classic "Time Enough At Last": A nerd survives a nuclear blast by living in his parents' basement. As the sole survivor, he finally is able to find and collect ALL of the retro games and systems. As he finally sits down to start playing, the power finally cuts out!

On the bright side, he can get some solar panels or a generator.

😮 it is Burgess Meredith. I thought he looked very familiar. Yes, he's an awesome actor.

I need to restart my TZ watching. I started watching them last year after Phil ran podcasts about Twilight Zone episodes.

Yep.  I think he's in a total of 3 different TZ episodes, and Shatner is in 2.

      Whoops...4!  He's in 4 episodes.

  17. This is so cool and I've been considering doing the same thing. I enjoyed the 8 Bit Guy's video series on making the game for various systems and was fascinated with the limitations for color on the Atari version. When I take the plunge, I'm probably going with the C64 version. I'm with you on the PET connection -- that was my first computer experience in high school. I was thinking about the VIC-20 version, but hooking up a disk drive there is really clunky. UPDATE: It looks like you can buy just the digital download and the boxed copies come with that as well. https://www.the8bitguy.com/product/petscii-robots-for-atari/
  18. I absolutely do this as well. And it's so true that it's better when the emulation emulates the actual loading process. For example...the "beep beep beep" sounds of the Atari 8-bit disk drive loading. I often times will just load up a few favorite games and demos just to hear the music. And it makes me happy. MULE, Blue Max, and the 8-bit Robot demo are probably my most favorite ones. Of course, not with C64 emulation though...that loading in real life took FOREVER!
  19. First try: 18400. I really need to invest in a new NES controller.
  20. Nice job on this blog. Makes me want to play more Metroid.
  21. Good job @socrates63 and @Marco1019 and everyone on the list. This was a fun one.
  22. I can't say I've ever seen a TI version of Asteroids. Do you have any suggestions?
  23. I played a few rounds last night, and got in the 30,000 range. I'll give it one more go this afternoon.
