I would love one of those carts. They are just so expensive. I had heard about $200.00 for one.

The mail person left me a personal note apologizing for marking it "delivered" the day prior and delivered the box yesterday.  All is well.  Never panic, things tend to work out.

The cost is $180.  While that is expensive, it's much less daunting than the cost of the actual "must-have" games at this point.  Also, Jag emulation stinks, so it feels like a very good option to me.

    4. DegasElite

      DegasElite

Well, it is a better option than emulation, for sure. Good point about the cost. They're just so scarce, and that's another problem, possibly due to the chip shortage worldwide. Glad you got it. :O)

  2. It is awesome. 50 tables included.

  3. It isn't game related, but I have an important life event happening this weekend:  son #2 college graduation!  WAHOO!

  4. It was a beautiful day for a trip to the beach on Halloween.  Such nice weather for the end of October.  You might recognize this particular rock from the movie "The Goonies".

  5. It's an Atari 2600 day.  I'm using my Jr. with the little CRT and testing out the Gemstik (it works!)  Next up is a try at Decathlon using the Asteroids button controller.

First score and YIKES! I’m bad. But I did well at the 1500m I think. Almost got the musical tribute. @RickR wins the first round!

I’m going to try for that patch. This is a great game. However I know I’m going to feel this tomorrow.

Thanks, Harry.  That was fun.  We should pick another game or a rematch of Decathlon some time.

RE:  Jack Frost.  I wasn't familiar with it until I visited Canada a long time ago and saw it on TV there.  I don't remember much about it other than first being delighted to have a new-to-me Rankin/Bass show to watch, and then disappointed at how strange it was.  Well, that was a good 25 years ago.  Maybe I should give it another go.

    4. HDN

      HDN

Honestly I think Jack Frost is probably the best Rankin/Bass special. Though it's not particularly a high bar.

  8. It's that time of year again..

  9. It's the LAST DAY to try and catch @Sabertooth in the ClubVCS Yars' Challenge and @socrates63 in the 7800 Asteroids Challenge!

    GAME ON PEOPLE!

  10. Items that I'll be listing on ebay soon. I'll mention them here in case anyone is interested and would like to buy now (and save me the effort and fees of ebay). Pictures available if interested.

    • Atari 1200XL - needs keyboard refurb. About 1/3 of the keys do not work. Another project I'll never have time for. Hoping to get $175 + shipping. Comes with power adapter.
    • Atari 1027 printer - No idea if it works...probably not as the old rubber heads on these disintegrate over time. Free for the cost of shipping.
    • Atari XEGS - works. No keyboard. There is a hole cut in the cover. I don't know what this might be worth. $80? Make an offer.

I did NOT buy a mini. I just have too many computers and need to downsize.

  11. Jet boat tour in Portland.  A nice way to end the holiday.  Visibility was terrible due to forest fires nearby,  Thank you global warming.

      RickR

It's the Willamette River (which feeds into the Columbia) and the falls are at Oregon City.

We are having a freak wind storm here, and it's getting scary.

  12. Latest acquisition:  A boxed Colecovision!  It works just fine after a little cleanup, although one of the controllers has a non-functioning keypad.

You are so right, @MaximumRD.  There are so many games on this system that aren't perfect, but really do bring back the best memories.  Donkey Kong plays kind of slow now, but I remember how amazed all the kids were when the CV came out and this was the game they demoed in the store.  Incredible!  Zaxxon is another.  It's clunky, but still the best home version there is.

    3. MaximumRD

      MaximumRD

Absolutely. So many greats, Venture, Ladybug, MouseTrap ! And though I own a Atarimax cart (sadly the original USB type) I gave away most of my original carts but I could not part with one loose cart that was in amazing shape as well my all time favorite Mr. Do!

Neat! Never heard of it so I looked up NSG's review of it on YouTube. Looks very good! Have you played it yet? What's your take?

I think it's fun, and it sure looks nice for a 2600 game.  I need more practice, though.

  15. Legends Pinball Micro is now in its intended spot in my gaming room!  It is a perfect fit.

  16. Let's revive the Atari.io "Club Evercade".  Please join the club whether you have an Evercade or not and help spread the word.  It's a great system for retro gamers!  I'll be posting thoughts, reviews, and new release info, and hoping like crazy that others will join in with their stories and expertise.

  17. Little and big brothers!

I've decided to sell the 800.  I thought I'd better take a picture of them together before I do that.  I'm going to try selling it locally to prevent damage in shipping.

From what I know, it's like the Harmony cartridge but for the Intellivision. It lets you play rom files, so you can play homebrews and store the entire official Intellivision library on a single cartridge. I hear the Intellivision homebrew scene is quite vibrant. I missed out on the early batches and ordered this. Hopefully it'll come in 4-6 weeks.

    4. RickR

      RickR

You got it.  It's an Intellivision multi-cart.

I'm planning on getting a CRT out to try this out sometime soon.  Right now, our dining room table has a new computer for my wife on it.  Until we get time to get her VPN installed and swap it out with the old PC in the office, I'm on hold.  After, I'll use that space to play some intellivision.

  20. Merry Christmas, everyone.

Here is my retro-gaming loot for this year.  Good stuff!

  21. Micro Pinball has arrived!  It took about two weeks, which was expected.

FedEX delivered it to the wrong address (the house next door).  No biggie, but still.  Not cool.  My poor neighbor was embarrassed that I saw her in PJ's.  Oops.

I'm not sure that I'll have time to open and assemble this today, but I will post here when I do.

Can't wait to see this put together and how large it is.

  22. More gaming-credenza improvements.

    • Replaced 2600jr with 7800
    • Added Atari 800xl
    • Moved Wii down one level
    • Moved PS2 up one level

And I've maxed out the switchbox at six systems.  There is a real limitation on moving the shelves around due to a lack of many peg holes.  This is the configuration that makes the most sense at the moment.  Thanks, @HDN for some good suggestions.

Looks great, Rick! Now you can enjoy many more games while the house is full. And I am very happy you got your computer in there. I can see you love that thing a lot.

This is an SD cartridge, isn't it? Nice purchase, btw. :O)

    2. RickR

      RickR

Yes.  Just throw ROMS on the SD card, and then pick them from a menu on the NES.  A real space saver.

The next one on my list is one for the N64.

Cool! I would like to get the Jaguar Game Drive, but it's too expensive for me at the moment. SainT wants to get CD support on it as well. That is still experimental. :O)

  25. My face after the Jaguar GameDrive tracking says it's "out for delivery", but the mail just came and no package.

      RickR

Oh it gets more worrisome.  The status shows as "delivered" at 5:21pm yesterday, but no sign of the box.  I don't think it was stolen, but rather the mail person must have put it in the wrong box.  Hopefully, whichever neighbor got it will give it to me today.  Fingers crossed!

      DegasElite

Saw the other post. Glad you got the GameDrive cartridge. That must have been nerve-wracking waiting for it. Happy for you. :O)
