  1. I highly recommend Mint Mobile. It is $15 per month for 5GB data, unlimited text/talk. But you have to pay for the year up front.
  2. Facebook marketplace works fine IMO. Just specify in your ad that you accept cash payments only. "Block" anyone who offers you anything you don't really want to deal with. That way they won't bother you again. I also like Craigslist a lot. Ebay works too if you are willing to ship. The fees are high, but you can sell things for a much higher price here. So it ends up working in our favor IMO.

    Movie Cart

Incredible. Also incredible is that price point of $25. I've added myself to the waitlist.
  4. Here's a picture of one of the prototypes that I took at the Peterson Auto Museum in L.A. in 2023. What is amazing to me is that the real product is pretty much identical to the prototype. A rarity in car design.
  5. My guess is another overblown media frenzy. Tiny rust spots. Maybe a coat of wax is all it needs. I think all new cars can have minor issues. My Toyota has an occasional "whistle" from one of the roof rails, but I haven't had time to take it in to have it fixed. Same. It is pretty startling to see one in person. Very large and different.
  6. OK, apparently it comes from a Digital Eclipse e-mail and isn't real 🙂
  7. I'm not sure, I am trying to find out. I got the image on Facebook
  8. While this is a little alarming, I watched the episode. The guy uses it for retro-gaming! He said it is essentially a flat panel TV with composite inputs. This is exactly what I would use this for!
  9. It was worth a revisit though 🙂 Tendi flamboyantly overdoing her singing cracks me up!
  10. Dakar Desert Rally is free on Epic today->Feb 22! This game looks great. Maybe it's one we could try multi-player with atari.io forum members. https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/dakar-desert-rally Make note that the classic RPG "Fallout 2" is free next week!!!
  11. First dibs to everyone else. But if there are any left by March 15, I'll take them. I don't have any of those games. Thanks.
  12. I picked Caverns of Mars Recharged. First attempt: 305 points! I think I need a manual 🙂 It is so cool of Atari to do this.
  13. Administer electrical shock if user tries to remove cartridge or turn off console too soon. 🙂
  14. For sure. Who remembers those old motherboards that had TWO BIOS chips so that you could flash one, and if it failed, revert back to the other? I know, I know...added cost.
  15. Related to this topic slightly....my mom, whose dementia continues to progress 😞 For a long time, we had a simple "ladybug" cell phone for her to use. But she eventually lost the ability to use it...BUT we switched her back to a land line with the phone pictured below. And she loves it. She answers it and calls us successfully. So thank goodness these are still available. It costs more than a cell phone, but totally worth it for her situation.
  16. While I agree with that on principle, I'm also an engineer and know dang well that if there is a way to screw it up, users will find it. Therefore, a system should be designed to be idiot-proof. Store updates on the console itself and do not re-flash carts, for example.
  17. I'm sure I've posted this one more than once already, but this one NEVER fails to make me laugh. Trombone sneeze.
  18. My family has had a land line and the same number for ages. A few years back, I finally convinced my wife that we should switch to an IP phone service. So sure enough, we ported our old phone number over and it works exactly the same way. I even hooked up our old wireless phone set (with 3 handsets!). I estimate the switch saved us about $300 a year. My wife liked it so much, she switched her small business over too. As for the cell phones, I think it's cool to see people without them. I like having mine mostly to order food ahead with the discounts offered on apps. But otherwise, I totally get your point. So distracting! Also, travel is getting harder without a cell phone. Some airlines actually charge for printing out a printed boarding pass! And we've also found the luxury of NOT renting cars and just using Lyft/Uber. For traveling, a cell phone helps a lot.
  19. Aha! More research shows that this is a hardware limitation of the SID, and that it has been hacked for hobbyists who have added a second SID to their system! Here is the hacked version on C64:
