Next was the annual Cowlitz Gamers for Kids retro gaming show in Longview, WA.  I go to this one every year, and it's a great time AND it's for a great cause -- helping disadvantaged kids in Cowlitz County, WA.

The "Free Play" area is a total blast.  Try out the systems you don't have.

    Sega Saturn:

    Genesis/Sega CD/32X Monster Combo

    7800

    5200

Oooooooooh!  Jaguar.  I played it for a long while.  Gautlet 2.  A good game, but why does your guy fire so slowly?

TurboGrafx!  It had a really sweet SD-Cart with tons of ROMS.  Unfortunately, I think the controller was defective.  Games would load, but I couldn't figure out how to start a game

    Amiga!  WOW!

INTV and a VIC-20 -- they covered all the bases.

    C64 and 3DO

    Colecovision anyone?

    Overview of the vendors:

Forum member Paul and his EightBitFix booth.  Great stuff as always:

And the RickR haul.  Please note, I started walking around thinking there's nothing here I need or want, a little depressed from recent events I suppose.  But sure enough, I found MORE than enough stuff to buy, spent more than I wanted, but really had a great time and got lost in the moment to forget my troubles for a short while.  This hobby can be the best.

TWO shows for me today -- a very busy day.

First was the Vancouver (Washington) Vintage Toy and Record show.  I helped a friend transport and set up a LaserDisc booth.  Learned a lot and had a great time.  And came home with a better LD player and a bunch of discs.

A bad selfie of the Laserdisc table.

I pity the fool that don't buy Mr T and Alf plushies.

Big Jim!  It's the low-rent alternative to GI Joe!

All kinds of toys here -- lots of Hot Wheels, action figures, etc, etc. etc.

Back to the Future 2 Hoverboard anyone?

And finally, the RickR haul of movies:

Great video, NSG! I agree with you and others regarding Super Breakout for the 5200. The Colecovision had an amazing version of DK and Atari goes with something that screams last gen and was essentially unchanged from the 2600 version. It was definitely a horrible choice - even if the game itself is enjoyable.

One console that provided a lot of value out of the box was the Atari XEGS. It came with Missle Command (built-in), Bug Hunt and Flight Simulator II. The problem was, much like Super Breakout, none of these games were exciting in 1987's post Super Mario Bros.

Not a lot of love for Genesis' Altered Beast? I think it's a great game on the console and was pretty envious of my friends with the early Genesis. I agree that it was wise to switch to Sonic by the time the SNES rolled around, if only for its broader appeal.

Another solid video. I can't disagree with any of your choices. Honorable mentions go to Colecovision/Donkey Kong and Lynx/California Games.

From a value perspective, I want to give a shout out to the Coleco Gemini with DK and Mouse Trap. That was my first console and I didn't care at all the it wasn't an "Atari".

In my view you can't go wrong with Best Electronics. I've always had great experiences and Brad is top notch in terms of customer service, responsiveness and shipping. Plus that packing tape is the jam!

Best, B&C and Video 61 are all reputable sources for your Atari needs.

Let me just say up front...I think the place is fantastic.  They have the very best selection of original and redesigned Atari parts, and the owner Brad really is helpful and knowledgeable.

I've seen it over and over again though and it drives me nuts -- people on Facebook or other Atari sites complain about Best.  "Their website is hard to navigate", "The guy was rude to me".  Blah blah blah.

Yes, the web sight is a little unsightly.  But if you are diligent and willing to dig, there is a whole ton of good info there.  Prices are kept up to date.

My advice to those who need some help is to do this:
Go to their FAQ page and bookmark it.  Make note of the e-mail address.  Take a look around the site.  Copy and paste the full name and part numbers of the stuff you want into an e-mail. E-mail Best with that list.  Give them your full name and address and ask for a shipping total.  Once you get the return e-mail, call them.  Tell them your name and that you e-mailed them earlier and want to give them a credit card number to complete the order. Easy! If you have a specific question, e-mail and explain it.  Brad will help you.  It's that simple.  I was having trouble with a 400 once.  I e-mailed, explained what it was doing, and I said I think I need to purchase a new ROM card.  In that case, Brad had me try a few other things and ended up fixing it without having to buy any parts!  And those other people say he's rude????  Puh-lease.

I also want to add that the shipping cost charged is exact and fair.  Not a penny more than what you see on the shipping label.

Anyways, I've ordered a lot from them and am always happy.

Just for fun, I've included a picture of my latest order....I bought 5 new 5200 controller flex circuits and also a 2600 cart to get me over the minimum order amount.

I haven't watched your video yet, but here's how I'd go:
Super Breakout - Atari 5200.  This game was old and tired years before the 5200 came out. Any system that didn't come with a pack in game.  This was a terrible trend. Keith Courage - TurboGrafx 16.  I went and tried this one in emulation when Justin told me it was terrible....and it was terrible.  Just a very tired and boring platformer. Las Vegas Poker and Blackjack - Intellivision.  The game is good, but it's a boring choice for a pack-in game.
