Why is Realsports Baseball not on this list?  I'd play that over any of these.

Great find today at goodwill. Ive seen these tetris lights before and thought they looked cool, but i wasnt gonna pay $25-$30 for them. Saw these for $1.91 at goodwill with box and all the blocks and am very pleased with them.

The blue one is the base with a plug and the others only light up when they are touching

    Info here:  http://kollektivet.nu/brucelee2/

It's the spiritual successor to the classic game "Bruce Lee" for C64 (and Atari 8-bit).  A new version was created in 2013 and ported to the C64!  I went ahead and put the image on my SD2IEC device and played it on real hardware....and it is FANTASTIC.  Flashier graphics, but the gameplay is very similar to the original.

Has anyone else given this a try?  It's easy to try on an emulator.  I could also create a floppy for anyone if they don't have an SD2IEC.

I just noticed something...no one has mentioned Pole Position or Moon Patrol, or any of the more common arcade ports.  Interesting.  And I have not given my 10 favorite 5200 games either so here we go.

Star Raiders Pole Position Moon Patrol Joust Space Dungeon Qix Ber-erk (that key stopped working on my laptop keyboard...grr!) Frogger Tempest Ms. Pac-Man This is the system I would really like to collect for the most.  I love the 2600 and everything I have received, and will continue to get, for that iconic console but the 5200 was my childhood.  Waking up to play a game before catching the bus for school in the mornings, coming home to catch a game before dinner, waking up to get a game in before Smurfs came on and then more gaming after the show went off...and the time Mom and I would spend on it are the reasons why the 5200 still holds a special place in my heart and memories.  I hope I can get that across in the videos I am planning.

If I had any honorable mentions they would have to be:

    Popeye
    Star Wars Arcade
    Centipede
    Defender
    Countermeasure

    No real spoilers ahead:

Tonight's episode of The Walking Dead heavily involved Yars' Revenge. They even got into the story about the Yar, the Qotile and the Razak System. It's incredible that this even happened. Thanks to The Walking Dead for an awesome Atari Day! For those of you who saw it, what did you think?

We liked it, looked very good, definitely do not think it is going down as a SciFi classic that some are hailing it to be.

Oh man, you are so right.  What a wasted opportunity.

I know some of these probably had licensing issues, but some cool characters they should have tried to include:
Pitfall Harry Pac Man The Adventure square. E.T. The special animations and power ups for these characters almost write themselves.

And atarilbc's idea of Atari themed tracks is inspired!  Asteroids, Missile Command, Pong, Combat.

Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of classic characters to be drawn from Atari's golden era games.  I think this is one reason why we only see Bentley Bear in Atari Karts.  The most popular Atari arcade properties predate character driven games. As mentioned above, you're essentially limited to Charley Chuck, Berthilda and Major Havoc.  While a lot of fun, Crystal Castles, Food Fight and Major Havoc are not exactly top tier Atari titles in the vein of Asteroids, Centipede, Tempest, Missile Command and Battlezone.  That said, the classic IP could have been leveraged for world building.

For example, imagine a Missile Command inspired world where you're driving your kart racer in a city while ballistic missiles rain down around you.  Or driving through a mushroom filled land where spiders, scorpions and centipedes are the hazards.  Atari missed an opportunity to find creative ways to themes from their best known games into Atari Karts.

I won't dwell on other improvements like better control, longer tracks, and more obvious power-ups and hazards.  We all know the game didn't have a lot of depth or polish.  For what it is - a generic kart racer - I've always enjoyed it.

    Indeed...very cool.

All I remember about this format was the confusion between Videodisc and Laserdisc.  I don't think I understood that there was a physical stylus (like a record player) fro VHD until much much later.  I'm guessing a lot of people didn't -- especially rental stores.
