I've had my eye out for a 600XL for a  long time.  Well, I finally found one for a nice price via Facebook.  The cool XL tape drive was a nice bonus.

The 600XL works, and I've made project plans to expand it's memory to 64k.

The only 8-bit computer left now on my "want" list is a 1200XL.

The mod board I like to use looks like this:

And yes...you use ground and power from the RF board pins, and then ground goes out to the jacks from the little board.

PS - one other thing -- when you mentioned you don't have wire.  Do you have a "Harbor Freight Tools" near you?  I'm not sure if they are in Canada or not.  But they sell a variety pack of wire spools in a nice stand for cheap.

Did I need it?  No.  But I've wanted one for a long time.  Shocking how good the video quality is on this.

Whoops.  No.  That's why I shouldn't count manually.  37 Odyssey 2 games here.

Well I didn’t end up getting my hands on a multicart, but I did manage to get several loose carts a few weeks back in Detroit for 2 dollars a piece. I also got a few in box games in the 4-10 dollar range. I believe this was the final game list I ended up with:

    Computer Golf
    Bowling/Basketball
    Speedway/Spinout/Crypto Logic
    UFO
    Invaders from Hyperspace
    Pick Axe Pete
    KC Munchkin
    Out of this world/Helicopter Rescue
    Alien Invaders Plus
    Armored Encounter / Subchase

I gave it to my in-laws last night and they were excited! They played Pick Axe Pete for at least 30 minutes, then they popped in KC Munchkin for a while. I then played some UFO, Invaders from Hyperspace, and Armored Encounter/Sub Chase with my father in law. We had a blast! This system is pretty fun given its limitations, and I especially enjoyed the strategy involved in Invaders from Hyperspace. KC Munchkin is no slouch either; just because there aren’t as many dots as there are in Pac Man doesn’t make it easier!

Here's the first look at the 5200 version of "Putt 18 Miniature Golf," running on actual Atari 5200 hardware. This is not ready for release yet. We have to do some testing and make a run of cartridges. Watch for further announcements when we are ready for the release. Thanks for watching!

    What a day!

I had the day off work, so I did a little thrift store shopping.

I found some CIB Intellivision games, one loose Pac Man, a Wii game for $0.75 and a PS2 game for $1.  And a Gremlins DVD.

I also got a very nice 19" monitor for my wife's PC.  I know what you're thinking...cheap SOB won't buy his wife a new monitor.  But here's the thing -- if I did, she'd get really mad at me because her old 15" square one was "just fine".  This one was only $7.50, so I don't think she'll be too mad.  Plus built in speakers makes her desk a little neater.

Finally, a pair of all-black Converse Chuck 2's.  Now normally, I don't even look at shoes at Goodwill because "ewwww" to used shoes.  But these ones were on a display shelf, my size, and they look brand new.  No wear at all on the inside heel, or the soles that I could see.  I don't think they even make Chuck 2's anymore.  Too bad, because they are a lot more comfortable that the originals.  $15.

I use an Excel spreadsheet, which each system on a different sheet.  I don't know how to create a function to count all rows on all sheets.  And I'm too lazy to do it by hand.  I'd guess I'm close to 1000.  With the big hitters being Atari 2600 (304 games), Intellivision (97), Odyssey 2 (37), and PS2 (over 100).

    1. North & South
A strategy game about secession war, based on a french comic. Highly recommended.

    2.Defender of the Crown
Conquer England in less than half an hour. I still love the graphics done by Jim Sachs.

    3. Wings
    Great game about WWI.

    4. No greater glory
Again civil war. Great strategy game made by SSI.

    5.The Chaos Engine
Gauntlet styled game by the Bitmap Brothers and brutally difficult.

    6. Fightin ' Spirit
Ok, a Street Fighter II clone, but look at Street Fighter games in their Amiga Iteration! Sad story!

    7. Lionheart
Brilliant plattformer with epic audiovisual presentation.

    8. Lords of the rising sun
Defender of the Crown sequel, settled in medieval japan with a more elaborate gameplay.

    9.Flight of the Amazon Queen
Very funny Point&Click-Adventure not done by LucasArts.

    10. Populous
    Very good RTS game.

I could name many further titles, especially the games of Cinemaware or others, which were also published on PC or consoles.

Made it finally to the end.

I grade the show a C.  It's got great production values and effects.  You can tell they spent a lot of money on it.  But the writing is not good.  It just took so long to go anywhere, and even then it was all predictable and telegraphed.

<<SPOILER ALERTS!  Stop reading if you are still watching or plan to watch >>
I like the character of Don....but "a flake in the eye" made him go blind???  In BOTH eyes????? They had gravity on the ship why?  The robot turned back into a friend why? Maureen was the only one in the old-school NASA control room why? No one else went looking for Don and Dad why?  They literally almost all died in the bat cave when Dad send a reply.  The Resolute couldn't receive radio why?  Even with Jupiter ships back on board (that could receive radio)? That kid that died....they couldn't just dig him out instead of lifting the tanker?  They literally had shovels that they JUST used to dig out the buried Jupiter.  Why do they keep calling her Dr. Smith after establishing her real name? On a positive note...the actors all did their best with what they had to work with.  I take back the Jake Lloyd comment.    The family drama parts were handled well.  The Penny/teen-boy storyline was cute and well-done.  Dr. Smith is a psycho...well done on that character.  The end twist is very good.  I sure wish they had more Bill Mumy.  I know I'm in the minority here, but I just didn't care for it.

Hopefully no one is offended by my opinion.  Please read the bullet points with a touch of humor that I intended.  I've probably been watching sci-fi for too long to be so nitpicky.
