We’ve covered all the arcade ports, and now we start a brand new series called “Heroes Run Right”. Tune in as we uncover all of the platforming side scrolling games the Atari Lynx has to offer - starting off with Todd’s Adventure in Slime World:

🏹 Playing Crossbow this week on 7800 Ave, do you play it w/ a Light Gun or Joystick?
-
Growing up I used a joystick, as I never saw the Light Gun sold separately, although when I revisited the game a few years back, I played it with the gun, which is probably my preferred method, although it's still fun with a joystick.
-
Light gun is definitely preferred but I don't have a CRT at the moment. I hold onto hope that one day they'll figure that out for these classic systems!
-
OK. At 17:19 what is plugged into that 7800? It's not a typical cart.

Anyone else doing nothing but snacking and drinking during this lock down? That’s all I feel like I’ve been doing is eating snacks!

I've been making a lot of healthy fajitas during all this, but these Peanut M&Ms are going to catch up with me. Hope you guys are all doing well!
-
That sounds nice @RickR I hope you enjoy it! Peanut M&Ms are a treat I don't eat a lot of but just a few can be very filling. When I was in high school I worked at a big movie theater and I heard once that the whole "M&Ms melt in your mouth, not in your hand" thing came about by design, to give American soldiers during WWII a chocolate snack they could carry with them in their pockets that was candy coated so they wouldn't melt as easily. I'd work long shifts at the movies, and when we would sweep out theaters after a show I'd almost always find at least one quarter under a seat. I'd save enough quarters through the day to buy some Peanut M&Ms from the gumball machine in the hallway. They had small paper cone cups next to the candy machines just like what you'd use on a water cooler. I'd put a quarter or two into the machine and fill the paper cone about halfway up and slip it into my pocket. Peanut M&Ms became a very filling and tasty way to fight hunger going through the day without being able to stop and eat.

🎬 Atari Lynx Arcade Oddities drops today on Lynx Lounge. We come to the end of our arcade port block, but three very strange games remain. Gauntlet the Third Encounter (1990), Turbo Sub (1991) and Super Asteroids and Missile Command (1995) are indeed arcade titles, but are they ports, or something different? Let's find out:

🎬 DEFENDER 2000 drops today on The Jag Bar. 1st new Ep. since December 2016! Make sure you’re subscribed. New episodes coming all summer long:

Great episode. 2000 has it's charms and is a bit easier with a ProController. If the ship sprite were smaller and more of the map was viewable, 2000 would be a much better game. For the Jag's classic updates, it ranks third for me behind Tempest 2000 and MC3D's "virtual" mode.
As it is, I agree that Plus is the best version on the cart. I love the psychedelic esthetic and balanced approach to updating the original with powerups and drone. Not sure why they didn't implement music for Plus. You might be right that it's the best way to play Defender.
