  1. Same. In addition, I have a modern VCS which is also not listed.
  2. I saw this on your Twitter feed and was going to guess this. Rich had mentioned his flood damaged unit a few times and "plans" for it. Hope you can get it cleaned up and working!
  3. Black Widow & Centipede Recharged are 100 percent free in the Epic Game Store. A great way to try out Atari's revamped titles for free!

  4. I felt the same. I loved the ending scene and how they reintroduced the character we all knew was coming. It will be interesting to see where they take.
  5. Less than 9 months after its official retail launch in June 2021, the new Atari VCS has 53 official releases and one demo in the AtariOS store. This includes the 18 Flashback Friday games and 2 Atari VCS Vault volumes. By comparison, the Atari Jaguar had 50 official carts released during its entire retail run. That includes the Telegames published carts. At this point the modern VCS is poised to have more officially released games than the Jag/CD combined, 7800 and 5200 in 2022. It will likely also surpass the Lynx at some point. When that happens, only the 2600 will have seen more official releases on an Atari branded console. Kinda strange to think about.
  6. 31,660 On a modern VCS via RetroArch (Stella Core) with a the VCS modern controller.
  7. I just finished the first episode of Season 2. I'm not exactly sure what I just watched but - as my better half might say- I ain't mad at it.
  8. Brand new to the VCS or considering picking one up? Check out this helpful setup video by @Mockduck !
  9. Thanks @RickR ! I was determined to leave with something. I definitely felt like a cranky old fart looking at the prices. Also sat in on the Pat & Ian panel which was at least entertaining. I much prefer hearing from old timey devs but this was a much more social media oriented event.
  10. We went to the SoCal Gaming Expo last Saturday. I didn't find a whole lot that I was looking for amongst the vendors and I was dumbstruck at some of the pricing. Especially for boxed consoles and N.A. Saturn games. The worst offender was a beat to hell loose Jag/CD combo with a standard controller for the bargain price of $1,500! I'm glad that I got into retro when I did! Anyway, not all was lost. One import only vendor was selling Saturn imports for reasonable prices. I picked up two commons, sealed for $15 ea. Virtual On and Virtua Fighter Kids.
  11. Thanks to @BHG_Gamingof the Atari Weekly Podcast for inviting me on to (very nervously) talk about ClubVCS and the Recharged Squad Challenge! Be sure to check out his channel every Thursday for the latest VCS news, spirited debate and code giveaways!
  12. BHG of the Atari Weekly Podcast invited me on to talk (nervously) about atari.io and ClubVCS!

All challenge participants will receive one (1) entry for each challenge in which they submit a valid score! The top scorer of each challenge will receive three (3) additional entries - for a total of four (4) entries in a single challenge! In addition, the top scorer in each of our first five (5) Recharged Squad Challenges will get a ClubVCS button pack celebrating Atari's Recharged series! This contest is open to everybody, including Atari I/O Moderators, with a U.S. or Canada mailing address. It's really easy, all you have to do is be a Club VCS member and participate in our Recharged Squad Challenges.
  14. Just a quick reminder to post a photo or YouTube video of you score. Screen captures are not allowed as they are more easily manipulated for falsified scores. Multiple submissions are permitted. Photos can be as simple as a quick cell phone shot with the score and screen clearly visible. See my sample submission in the second post. If making a YouTube video, please post a link with your score. The video will be embedded in the thread. You get a patch if you mail in a Polaroid. (KIDDING🤣)
  15. @Mockduck , 💯 agreed. The grind aspect of the game is probably a holdover from its mobile roots and sets it apart from the rest of the series. The upgrade system will make the playing field a bit uneven for new players. But with a few hours of playtime, most folks should be able to level up their stats!
  16. 10,950 My first submission for the Challenge to kick things off. I'm using the Classic Controller and stats are maxed out.
  17. 💯! @Justin you really nailed it!
  18. Just a few quick notes to any new members. First, welcome to atari.io and ClubVCS! We're excited for you to join us for the very first Recharged Squad Challenge! Second, please check out the rules of play above before posting a score. Lastly, because Missile Command Recharged retains your highest score ever, submissions should be of the "Last Score" to help ensure that the score was achieved during the Challenge. For example, the score for the sample submission photo below would be 13,750 and not 47,000. Good luck Missile Commanders!

  20. Atari announced Kombinera in an interview with IGN. According to the article, "Kombinera is a new Atari IP where players take control of differently colored balls and use them and their unique abilities to work their way through over 300 environments and puzzles. The balls all move in unison, but different colors will interact with puzzles in different ways, requiring concentration and puzzle-solving to move forward." What I like most was this quote from new Atari CEO Wade Rosen: "We are in an interesting moment in the lifespan of Atari," he says. "It is an iconic brand that has a natural place in pop culture as much as it does games. Atari appears in film, television, art, music and fashion — and it feels natural. It belongs. Yet, despite the brand's roots in video games, today’s Atari has less presence and less relevancy in gaming culture. You might say the brand is out of balance. A modern Atari will find that balance, where its role in gaming culture is in parity with its role in pop culture." Encouraging. Are you looking forward to new Atari IP? What do you think of Kombinera? Check out the launch trailer & sound off!

Avoid Obstacles: Hazards abound, making for a perilous journey through each stage. Special Abilities: Different balls have special abilities, needed to traverse or overcome obstacles. For this challenge we're playing Missile Command: Recharged! Released in 2020 in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the original, Missile Command: Recharged is a reimagining of the beloved Atari arcade classic.
