  1. I forgot about that! I love Don't Break the Ice!
  2. NOTE: As of this morning there were THREE different threads on Crystal Pepsi. I have merged them into one. Thanks!
  3. from SNL, lol YES!!!
  4. I remember in the 90s tasting Crystal Pepsi and thinking it tasted just like Sprite or 7up in a Pepsi bottle
  5. The 3DS is aging and Nintendo is ready with new technology. Remember Game Boy Color was only around for about 3 years before Game Boy Advance set a new standard which was also replaced by DS within a few short years. The NX won't be a "straight portable" though, Nintendo is indicating that it will be more than a handheld and different from a console.
  6. Ubisoft has "surprises" yet to be announced for Nintendo NX according to this article. "Nintendo has the power to reinvent the way families are playing" I hope that's true! More from the article on NintendoLife: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/08/ubisoft_has_surprises_yet_to_be_announced_for_nintendo_nx
  7. What will the next episode of 7800 Avenue be about?
  8. I love that your family is so into this! This looks like it will be a fun show, I'm excited for more
  9. That's a $50 difference for the cover. Is there more in there?
  10. What is the difference going to be, other than the cover, between the regular book in the Deluxe Edition?
  11. I just watched the first two episodes. They hit it out of the ball park with this one. This is an incredible show! Thanks to all of you who recommended it. The music makes me think they've listened to The Retroist Podcast, it sounds a lot like the music Peachy makes for the show. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, click on our 2600 page and scroll down to the 2600 episode of The Retroist Podcast. That opening monologue of the show has that same viby synthesizer score as Stranger Things has) I see so many nods to my favorite movies and TV shows from the past. The nods to E.T. are really obvious, especially with the shed in Will Byers' backyard, Mathew Modine's parallels to Peter Coyote in E.T., and the agents monitoring the area like E.T.'s eavesdropping van. I see references and influences from Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, Poltergeist, Firestarter, Jaws, Halloween, The Goonies, Stand By Me, Mad Max, The Thing, Nightmare On Elm Street, X-Files, Twin Peaks, Lost, and so many more. All the references to Dungeons & Dragons, Lord of the Rings, John Carpenter, Richard Donner, and Steven King really brought it home for me. I love that the password to Castle Byers is Radagast. This show says so much about Atari I/O culture without even mentioning Atari! My only real complaint about the show is the lack of Atari so far but it is nice to see kids riding their bikes and playing board games again! This is an outstanding show, we really enjoyed watching this and plan to continue with more episodes this week! I'll post more thoughts as I have them.
  12. I agree with you, but I'm glad there's an HD option. Suddenly 30 classic NES games have been "remastered" and are available at a far more reasonable price than some of the cartridges are going for right now. I'll always have my NES hooked up to my regular tv, but the NES Classic will be a nice addition to any room with an HDTV and make these games accessible to more people.
  13. Excited for Stranger Things this weekend!

  14. Awesome post Rows! This show looks really, really good. I plan on starting it Friday night and have been looking forward to it all week. I've been hearing great things about it from friends! Popcorn and snacks will be in the mix. NO SPOILERS PLEASE! If it's that good I think that's a cool idea and I'm definitely on board to contributing to that conversation. Maybe post one episode review a day for 8 days? It would be too much though if we had new threads for every episode of The Walking Dead, Game Of Thrones, etc.
  15. I think it's all relative. Sega Master System was the most powerful of the three and had some great games. The wedge look was technical and advanced. The Sega Cards came out before Lynx or TurboGrafx-16 and were a neat novelty. SMS introduced American homes to great franchises like Hang On, OutRun, Space Harrier and more. By comparison to the NES which had massive market share and the overwhelming popularity of Mario and the other Nintendo characters, it's easy for a journalist who is lazy to say "Sega Master System was a failure" and move on to the next paragraph. It also seems like sometimes gaming journalists like to call things a "failure" because it's dramatic, creates buzz and draws in more clicks. They seem prone to put out articles about "10 greatest video game failures" or something that "ruined their childhood". That's something we've tried to avoid at this site in our editorial content and focus on positive memories and honest perspectives.
