Notice: I was informed via email of a discussion concerning the removal of this list from another site. Due to my personal ethics and principles, I opted to no longer frequent the other site. I'm still maintaining and updating the list for the benefit of the TI community, but since an abandoned list would become severely out-of-date over time, I elected to transfer it here. I apologize for any mild inconvenience this may cause some people, but if you simply save this page in your favorites, it'll only take a click of the mouse button to come here any time to view and use it. - Ω -

- Ω - got a reaction from Justin in Overlooked and mostly forgotten -- The TRS-80 Model III (Sort of?)
Back in the day I had a TRS-80. While it would be "kinda nice" to have one one again, I simply do not have the room, let alone the will to spend Ebait prices on an old beat up piece equipment that would in all probability need to be restored. In this case EMULATION IS WHERE IT'S AT... for me.
A while back I dedicated an unused RPi 3B+ as a TRS-80 emulator. I then created some badging, added some stickers to the keyboard to remind me of which keys do what on a PC keyboard and now use it for a few quick games... "now and then". From power on to completely booted, ten seconds! If only my PC could do that.
This is what the whole things looks like...
Here's the closeup of the entire "computer" (RPi) with the Radio Shack badging..
Below is a closeup of the keyboard...
Below are a few examples of TRS-80 games..

- Ω - reacted to 9640News in Telnet Accessible BBS's for TI's with Downloads
Creating this topic for users to post the URL for Telnet accessible BBS's.
Two BBS's are currently running the AfterHours BBS program with the TIPI allowing Telnet access. Both of these boards have approximately 3000 files that can be downloaded via Xmodem such as using the TI-99/4A MXT TIPI client at http://ftp.whtech.com/TIPI/MXT if using the URLx. capability of the TIPI.
The two BBS's are:
TheKeep.net at Port 9918
MyTbox99.ddns.net at Port 61643 (this BBS is predominantly German)
There are also three other BBS's supporting the TI-99/4A and Geneve. Heatwave runs on a Geneve and has a fair amount of message traffic at:
Heatwave.ddns.net at Port 9640
There is also two other BBS's running on non-TI equipment at:
TheKeep.net at port 23
FusionBBS.ddns.net at port 9640
FusionBBS above has archives of Yahoogroups for the TI-99/4A and archives of comp.sys.ti if anyone goes looking for those messages.

- Ω - reacted to 9640News in MXT Telnet client for TI-99/4A
I mentioned this in another topic, but wanted to post here as well. I modified the TI-99/4A 40 column version of Mass Transfer (MXT) so that it would use the TIPI. With it, one could connect to telnet servers. In another topic here for Telnet BBS's, I list those BBS's that I am currently aware that support the TI-99/4A.
With Mass Transfer, you can download files from these BBS's and save those files to any device, including a TIPI. For users that may have minimal equipment, a TI-99/4A with a sidecar TIPI with either 32K or SAMS memory setup, this opens many doors to using software from the 80's and 90's.
Users that may not have a TIPI, but that may have a setup with a RS232, then another cheaper option may be to acquire a WiModem232 from https://www.cbmstuff.com . This allows you to use a RS232 interface, but the WiModem232 serves as the telnet interface. Basically, if you are familiar with terminal emulators, your dialing string changes from ATDT(phonenumber) to ATDT (website URL) like ATDTFusionbbs.ddns.net,9640 which would connect you to the Fusion BBS on port 9640.
If I had my preference, the TIPI route is the way to go. On my PI that is interfaced to the TIPI, I have around 128 GB's (that's gigabytes) of storage for TI files. That would be equivalent to over 1.4 million 90K floppy diskettes.

Check out Babymetal (correctly pronounced "bey b metal" a play on hea vy metal). Here...I'll get you started:
When you are done listening to that...try listening to "The One", "Road to Resistance", "Distortion", and then try this...
The band in the first video was fake playing but it's still an awesome song. The band in the other songs I suggested and with them performing with Rob Halford of Iron Maiden is their real band and they are sick! That drummer is awesome as was the rest of the members. I especially loved their lead guitarist.

To be fair, the title of the thread is cheap and awesome. Only my first microphone I mentioned is on the cheap side at about $20. The second one was my Awesome part of the thread LOL!

Well at the time I bought it, it was on sale through Best Buy for like $125 I think? And...I had a visa gift card left over from Christmas or my birthday or something that I used to pay towards it. The smaller mic I had first and it was good but having to keep it connected to the side of the camcorder all the time was a pain in the rear. So when I purchased my halo ring light to use in my vids, I also look for mic accessories that attached to my camcorder, like one of the small booms that attaches. Then I found this setup on sale and when I saw how it worked I took a chance. I actually connect my smaller mic to the red port on top of the wireless one like you see in the pic and then that allows me full hands free operation. I get about 5 hours or so on a single AAA battery on the transmitter depending on how long a stretch I use it for. So I also have a pack of the best buy cheap insignia brand batteries because I get a ton of them for cheap and they work well enough for what I need.

I actually use a combo of two mics in my videos. One of them is very cheap at only $20 and is critical for me as I need my hands free.
Wonderful lavaliere mic but as it still requires to be plugged into the side of my camcorder I use for filming, and has a short cord, I pair it up with:
The small receiver portion attaches directly to the top of my camcorder accessory connection. The larger part is both a wireless mic and transmitter, but you will see that is has mic inputs on it. So I actually plug my smaller lavaliere mic into that, shove it into my pocket and and as long as I'm within about 30ft of the camcorder, I basically have a full hands free mic to record my videos with. It isn't the greatest option but it works for my needs quite well so that I'm not tethered down.

- Ω - got a reaction from Justin in Awesome & Inexpensive Microphone for your YouTube Videos (and other uses)
<< THIS MICROPHONE >> I recently got from Amazon surprised the heck out of me. It sounds great (as good as microphones costing much more), but it also came with every accessory I'll ever need. I figured I share my good fortune on getting a good one... CHEAP in case any of you feel like it's time to upgrade as well.
Honestly though, I've since take off that big round screen as I've found that if you use the foam cover on the mic itself it's not necessary.
