I don't think you had BOTH difficulty switches set to "B"

When the left difficulty is set to "a" and the computer misses he loses some health like in the arcade version.

Hmmm I'd have to check when I get home. What's position b on an Atari 7800? Left or right? That's what I played on this time.

While I was never in to comics and super heroes and such, there's no denying that Stan Lee was a legend and is leaving behind an incredible legacy and his creations will live on forever. So sad.

Here's a couple tips I have. The first is obvious. Score as many Tetrises (4 lines in one drop) as you can. These are worth the most amount of points. These can obviously be done only with the "I" piece.

Here's the scoring breakdown right from the manual.

Second tip is knowing your pieces.

What I mean by that, is to know what pieces fit in what crevices just by sight. Knowing that an L piece will fit in a spot that's 3 deep with an open spot to the left. Knowing this helps tremendously, especially at higher speeds

3rd tip. Know when to block the well when setting up for Tetrises.

Even though in the example as shown in the picture, yes you're blocking off the well but since lines are completed those lines will go away setting you up for a Tetris. This also helps a lot to get rid of lines when playing at higher speeds.

    Here's another example

In this example once the reverse L piece is dropped, a line will be completed. But the Well will remain closed. But with the next piece, you drop it as shown under next into the open gap, and the well will be open once again only being blocked for 2 piece drops.

I'll have to play this on the Wii as well. I play this all the time, so i'm looking forward to getting on it tonight. I've never paid attention to score, always focused on lines. This is going to be a fun one!

So I was going through my collection the other day doing some reorganization and I came across my copy of Defender for the Atari 2600 and it realized I had the price sticker on it and the price sticker that says Pep Boys on it. I had no idea that they sold video games at pep boys!

HA!  Game tells lies.  See what it says?

    "You are a Tetris Master."

Blah.  Anyone that can do anything with this game is a Tetris Master.  It takes a lot of concentration to play this game on it's slow speeds.  At its core it is a thinking game because you have one piece falling you have to figure out where to place PLUS you have to plan ahead where the NEXT piece can go.  Then you get your NEXT piece you thought you knew where it could go but your new NEXT piece would fit that place better.  So now you have to figure out where the current piece would fit best.  It's a constant battle and causes lots of insecurities LOL.  Basically you will find yourself battling against your own thoughts trying to place these pieces because time has no meaning in this game.  It doesn't exist.  And the real world will disappear while you play.  That's the Tetris Trance!

And just for an FYI, the history of this game is an amazing mess.  If you have never watched it, be sure to go to YouTube and check out Gaming Historian's Story of Tetris.  It's a long video but the history is rather amazing.  It's a wonder any one console or computer ever got this game.
