I think it's awesome that Paul made it available to other people. I am going to mess with this one for a bit. It might be cool if I could make some hacks for myself, maybe good enough to share with you guys here.

I saw this today, it's called the slocum tracker. You can make your own soundtrack and sounds without having to get into assembly language to much. A great little tool for homebrew or just messing around with.

I've always been really impressed with Paul Slocum. I think he's a literal genius. I wrote a blog entry on him a number of years ago (which I need to find), My blog entry linked to an article The Austin Chronicle had written about Paul Slocum for SXSW. It's a bit dated, but still a great read if you're curious about an awesome person who pushed the 2600 to the max in the most interesting ways:

I like them both, but wish they would have changed names of the characters in addition to the gender swap. Leave the old alone, just thought it was okay. The thing that really annoyed me was the stupid use of the Jimmy Hendrix song. Dumbest plot device ever. I wish caprica was finished. That was a neat idea there.

I went there this afternoon and saw several game related stuff. The highlight was a Zelda throw fleece blanket for $25. But they have a lot of neat little game related treat tins and I think I saw some Nintendo themed notebooks. Check them out guys.

There is a FYE store at the Mall of Georgia. There is also a Think Geek store there too. They seem to have some of the same stuff

Nintendo may have abandoned the arcade scene the moment that NES thing started to take off, but that hasn't stopped some fans over the years from developing their own arcade versions of some of Nintendo's greatest games.

Among them, few are as impressive as this custom Legend of Zelda cabinet:

Made by a fan known as Wyo on the Arcade Museum forums, this cabinet is actually just an elaborate housing for an NES running the game to a 20" CRT screen. The devil, however, is in the design details that Wyo describes via a post on Arcade Museum.

"Basically, it’s an all wood construction," says the creator. "Primered and block sanded smooth and straight. I painted it with metallic gold automotive urethane, and then added a mid coat of .008 gold flake. After I cleared it, I wetsanded it 1000-3000 and then polished it. It turned out pretty cool."

To me 5200 is treated like the boogieman. But what I remember from my childhood was that the graphics were great. The controls were always picked on, but nothing else about it.

You know the 5200 is my first love -- I'm interested in anything that extols the greatness of the system.  Looking forward to seeing what you have in store!

I'm creating this poll because I am seriously planning on doing a video series that places the 5200 in the spotlight for a change.  Many video game videos I have watched briefly talk about this beautiful console...but they rarely talk about the good points of the console.

What I have in mind would discuss the console in a way that is truthful but also like a what-to-do and what-not-to-do showcasing the advantages and disadvantages of owning a 5200, how to approach it, what to expect, what not to expect, controller rebuild tutorials, game reviews, how to play the games from the 5200 point-of-view, etc.

I would like to know if Atari.IO members think this would be a good video series to do.  It would be YouTube videos for my blog here on Atari.IO.  It would be easier to do the videos instead of writing the blog posts because there are so many things to talk about and points to make that words and a few pictures sometimes can't capture or get across.  Oh...it would also need a name of which I have not thought of yet.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to express your thoughts and giving your feedback on this.  Long live Atari!

Posting a little late but I consider this as being my personal greatest "adventure"    I was encouraged by Justin to share so though I had not initially thought to do so outside my Facebook timeline I know I am at home here among you all and so I share because I think it is an achievement and despite whatever faults I have I am very proud that tonight we celebrated 15 years together and 13 years of marriage. We went to a great local dining establishment here in town called THE FIXX CAFE. It was delicious and everything went great. Here we are and here is what we had. I had the Pasta Special and a Guinness and Melissa had a Martini  and Halibut Special.

For anyone still on the fence, here is a review I saw on YouTube. John Riggs don't know much about Atari, more of a Nintendo guy, but he has the book and flips through it.
