btbfilms76 Posted March 19, 2016 Report Posted March 19, 2016 Digging my first system out of the grave and attempting a full restore. Not sure what shape the insides are in, but the outside has seen better days. Going to do my best to give this system one more ride. I will be posting pictures of my progress along the way. It's been a very long time, but I can still hear the clicking of the disk control like it was yesterday. The Professor Posted March 19, 2016 Report Posted March 19, 2016 I hear she's a smooth lady, once you get her running right.
Sabertooth Posted March 19, 2016 Report Posted March 19, 2016 I hope you have fun with it! Its easy to get frustrated but there is a ton of information out there to help diagnose any problems. Restoring old consoles has become almost meditative for me. Just a man (or woman), a console, a soldering iron, electric contact cleaner, dielectric grease, isopropyl alcohol, a cold beer and a dream.

I feel the same way, really looking forward to this rebuild. Now I need to find a good flashcart so I can put a bunch of games on it that I will probably never find in the wild. RickR Posted March 19, 2016 Report Posted March 19, 2016 Is there a flash cart for INTV? If you find one, let us know.
MaximumRD Posted March 19, 2016 Report Posted March 19, 2016 Is there a flash cart for INTV? If you find one, let us know. From what I recall there WAS one called Cuttle Cart 3 but those tend to be rare and pricey from people willing to sell but I believe at least one is currently "in development" but as is typical has been for some time now................. btbfilms76 Posted March 22, 2016 Author Report Posted March 22, 2016 At the bottom of this container, under the 2600, is the machine I grew up with. This is where it started, lets hope I can bring it back to life. Host of The Jag Bar • Lynx Lounge • 7800 Avenue Watch now on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrhPvmALbHpBUqrbBOms5Vw
btbfilms76 Posted March 22, 2016 Author Report Posted March 22, 2016 It's dirty but I've seen worse. At this point I just want to fire it up and see where it stands, I know I can clean it up but I need to strip it and work from the bottom up. I think by keeping these inserts in the controller it saved the key pad. Host of The Jag Bar • Lynx Lounge • 7800 Avenue Watch now on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrhPvmALbHpBUqrbBOms5Vw
The Professor Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Would you consider modding it with a power led like the INTV System III has?
btbfilms76 Posted March 22, 2016 Author Report Posted March 22, 2016 Would you consider modding it with a power led like the INTV System III has? No I want to keep it original. btbfilms76 Posted March 23, 2016 Author Report Posted March 23, 2016 Take a look at the difference a bath made. Took apart the controllers and detailed the membrane inside, soaked everything I could and put it back together. btbfilms76 Posted March 23, 2016 Author Report Posted March 23, 2016 And here it is. Cleaned, looks like its brand new and that wood grain is looking sharp. Gold, chocolate brown and wood grain, can't beat that man. Host of The Jag Bar • Lynx Lounge • 7800 Avenue Watch now on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrhPvmALbHpBUqrbBOms5Vw
btbfilms76 Posted March 23, 2016 Author Report Posted March 23, 2016 The one game in my stack with out a label, the one game I really wanted to play - and here it is. My father and I played this game so many times, we still talk about it today, so many Burgertime battles. This weekend I played it a lot with my son, he was excited I got it working, so was I. So my power switch, the on and off, its a little sketchy, really got to play with it to keep it on. Thats an easy repair I'm sure, guess I need to track one down. Other then that, Im pleased, great to play this machine again. Host of The Jag Bar • Lynx Lounge • 7800 Avenue Watch now on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrhPvmALbHpBUqrbBOms5Vw
RickR Posted March 23, 2016 Report Posted March 23, 2016 Looks good, man. Well done. You might try a squirt of contact cleaner in the on/off switch. Followed by a little dielectric grease pushed in with your finger.
Arenafoot Posted March 23, 2016 Report Posted March 23, 2016 And here it is. Cleaned, looks like its brand new and that wood grain is looking sharp. Gold, chocolate brown and wood grain, can't beat that man. Looks great! Now I have one that needs help - want to clean it? I'm afraid to take it apart too much. I've already opened it up to see what was moving around inside of it - it was only a wasp nest. I clean out the dirt and nest but the AC plug prongs are green so I wouldn't even try to plug it in. btbfilms76 Posted April 12, 2016 Author Report Posted April 12, 2016 Fixed the switch, took it apart and it was cover in black junk. Cleaned it, put a little grease on it. Fired up first try, now to find a flashcart or something like that. Host of The Jag Bar • Lynx Lounge • 7800 Avenue Watch now on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrhPvmALbHpBUqrbBOms5Vw
RickR Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 That switch tends to need a rebuild in many cases. Kind of like Atari paddles. I don't think they ever thought they'd last 40 years. Colecovisions are even more prone to the switch failure.
