greenween Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 I just tried with difficulty on B and the paddle becomes a quarter the size as normal, on A it is half!!! Is this the correct setting or are the 7800 settings different?? Anyone? Justin and RickR 2 "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime."
jmjustin6 Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 Man yall are making this look easy, but man it isnt greenween and Justin 2
greenween Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 chas10e is playing a much harder version or I'm playing an easier version!!! Not sure yet, time to unpack the woody! Justin 1 "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime."
greenween Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 So I hooked up my 2600 and yes it is different!!! The paddle goes to a quarter of it's original size instead of the half sized version on my 7800!!! Ignore all my scores!! Justin 1 "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime."
RickR Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 I just tried with difficulty on B and the paddle becomes a quarter the size as normal, on A it is half!!! Is this the correct setting or are the 7800 settings different?? Anyone? I think the difficulty switches on the 7800 are wonky. Easiest way to determine which is really A or B is to put Space Invaders in. In position A, your ship will be wide. Justin and greenween 2
RickR Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 I mean to say on the 7800 they aren't labeled and it's hard to tell which way is A and which is B. It's opposite of a 2600 4-switch though I think. Justin and greenween 2
greenween Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 Thanks Rick!! I did it and they are wonky!! This just got way harder! I didn't think I could beat chas10e, that explains a lot!! Justin and jmjustin6 2 "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime."
RickR Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 I'm afraid to even try. But I will this weekend. Playing with that Tic-Tac looks very difficult. Although it probably leaves your breath minty fresh. Justin and greenween 2
chas10e Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 So I hooked up my 2600 and yes it is different!!! The paddle goes to a quarter of it's original size instead of the half sized version on my 7800!!! Ignore all my scores!! I tried game on my 7800 , there is no label on console which is "a" or "b" as it turned out on mine "a" was to the right I hope you keep on playing & sure you will acheive & surpass the scores you posted greenween and Justin 2
RickR Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 PS - I still have cleaned and tested paddles AND super breakout carts if anyone needs them (for trade or sale). Justin and greenween 2
greenween Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 Haha, your tic tac comment is suddenly making much more sense! I'll keep trying, thanks for noticing that chas10e!!! RickR and Justin 2 "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime."
greenween Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 Good grief!!! LOL! Justin 1 "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime."
chas10e Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 Haha, your tic tac comment is suddenly making much more sense! I'll keep trying, thanks for noticing that chas10e!!! yeah that's what screens shots or video is for ... "nerd credibility" the challenge just says: Difficulty Level: Game 1, Set Difficulty Switch to A THIS doesn't specify that "a" = advanced on sears consoles (and "b" = beginner) the 7800 console doesn't specify which is which the 7800 manual says "to the left is more difficult" but on MY console it is to the right Justin, greenween and RickR 3
greenween Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 Mine is to the right also!! I'll just stick with my 2600 from now on. Here's my most recent try! You are dominating!! chas10e and Justin 2 "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime."
greenween Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 Such a crappy screen on my 2600. This just started, any ideas how to fix this? Justin and Atari 5200 Guy 2 "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime."
chas10e Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 k 825 3 bricks til 3'rd screen Justin, greenween and The Professor 3

chas10e Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 Such a crappy screen on my 2600. This just started, any ideas how to fix this? your 7800 is fine to play on now all the ambiguities have been ironed out snow screen prolly some bad RF cable or connection of RF dirty , you use one of them coax to RCA adapters or a slider box ? Justin and greenween 2
greenween Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 yea, it's a coax to rca adapter. This just started. I have a couple slider boxes but have never even tried them! Justin 1 "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime."
greenween Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 I am old, but I am not wise!! Justin 1 "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime."
chas10e Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 (edited) crack open the console & try a replacement RCA cable of some kind to see if image improves ( note the tip of the stock RF cable is shorter on one end ) also that origonal RF cable might have some corrosion on it clean all that up somehow , 90% rubbing alchohol, brasso , file , whatever coax to RCA adapter is what I use , amesomest thing eve-a !!!! RickR Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 392 - Ye Gods this is hard! Justin, greenween and chas10e 3
RickR Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 419 - This one feels more difficult than that crazy Space Invaders variant. chas10e, greenween and Justin 3
Justin Posted November 5, 2016 Author Report Posted November 5, 2016 419 - This one feels more difficult than that crazy Space Invaders variant. That was my original idea, to do a "crazy Space Invaders" event with this. Super Breakout is such a huge staple of Atari gaming I thought we'd mix things up. Turns out Game 1 is insane all on its own. chas10e, greenween and RickR 3
Justin Posted November 5, 2016 Author Report Posted November 5, 2016 I blame Buzz Aldrin for this BTW. RickR 1
