nosweargamer Posted October 1, 2017 Report Posted October 1, 2017 (edited) A repeat game on an easier setting than the last time, eh? I sense some high scores in the near future! greenween Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Nice! "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime."
TrekMD Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Cool. I will give it a try. 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming...
Atari 5200 Guy Posted October 4, 2017 Report Posted October 4, 2017 Count me in! I've only played it once for the first time to see what it was like this year or last year. Fun game. I see no sleep for a few days in my future.
Atari 5200 Guy Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 36,300 points. My first time playing this game since I obtained it. Only tried it out for about a minute when I got it about a year ago and that was only to get it working by cleaning it. Never touched it since until now. The video is of a few game plays back-to-back, no commentary, with highest score achieved close to the end of the video. It's a fun game and hard to put down. RickR, Justin, TrekMD and 2 others 5
TrekMD Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 Nice score! Atari 5200 Guy 1 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming...
RickR Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 15,600 is my top score so far. It's not an easy game. Atari 5200 Guy and TrekMD 2
RickR Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 21,100 - A little bit better. Hand cramp, going to stop for now. Atari 5200 Guy 1
TrekMD Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 That's better than my score! I have only been able to get 7100. I will keep trying! Atari 5200 Guy and RickR 2 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming...
Atari 5200 Guy Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 I have found that it is easier after the first couple of rounds to just sit and let them come to you. Unlike Defender, every enemy and truck moves from right to left in this game. Try to take advantage of this game logic to see if it helps. That is the only pattern I've discovered so far. Enemies seem to slightly move up and dn randomly. And they get very fast!! TrekMD and greenween 2
RickR Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 Yes, and those splitting bombs of theirs are deadly. TrekMD and Atari 5200 Guy 2

Atari 5200 Guy Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 Lol, I still need to find my gba to take part in this! Maybe you left it next to your Atari 2600. And if you have a 5200 be sure to check the controller storage area
dauber Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 (edited) Wow, this is a hard game! Never played it until now! Here's video (from a Facebook Live session)...setup is in the beginning. My score submission: 11,400 -- from 7:38ish to 9:42ish: Edited October 6, 2017 by dauber Justin, RickR and TrekMD 3 Supernatural, perhaps...baloney, perhaps not.
RickR Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 What I've been doing is hitting reset if I can't make it to the end of level 2 without losing a chopper. The speed really ramps up starting in level 3. The Atari 2600 had it's limitations, but speed was not one of them...it can get things moving in games very quickly!
TrekMD Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 LOL I do the same. Here is my latest score! I think I'm getting the hang of it! Justin and RickR 2 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming...
RickR Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 Nice! That's the best part of these challenges is to spend some time with these games and get incrementally better at them. I'm really enjoying it. Chopper Command is a good game. No flicker. Great graphics. It puts Atari Defender to shame IMO. It's not as complex a game, but the game is just so much more polished. I'm going to switch over to real hardware for my next attempt to see if I can do better. Justin, TrekMD and greenween 3
nosweargamer Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 Great News! I found my GBA SP and Activsion Anthology is still in it! ...but it's dead and I now need to find the charger... lol... TrekMD Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 Oh, does shame Defender and I think that was the point! Atari 5200 Guy 1 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming...
RickR Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 I just played a round on the flashback portable. It's pretty good! I didn't beat my high score. But it plays a lot better than I would expect. Justin, greenween and Atari 5200 Guy 3
RickR Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 New personal high score: 35,400. I'm using kamakazi20012's technique of letting the enemy come to me...just moving very slowly to the right. Atari 5200 Guy, TrekMD and greenween 3
