nosweargamer Posted August 26, 2020 Report Posted August 26, 2020 (edited) Pick one Which Nintendo arcade port was the best on the Atari 7800? By the way, my favorite way to enjoy playing Nintendo games on the Atari 7800 is using a Sega Genesis controller! 😁 Edited August 26, 2020 by nosweargamer socrates63 1 Quote The No Swear Gamer on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChtJuo040EOCTVziObIgVcg Host of The Atari 7800 Game by Game Podcast on iTunes, Stitcher and YouTube
HDN Posted August 26, 2020 Report Posted August 26, 2020 Well, I've never played any of them, but since they seem to be more or less identical to their NES counterparts I'll go with Mario Brothers. It seems a bit faster on the 7800 from videos I've seen, but mostly the same. I'm a huge Mario Bros. fan. socrates63 and nosweargamer 2 Quote
CrossBow Posted August 26, 2020 Report Posted August 26, 2020 Donkey Kong JR and Mario Bros. While the audio is... well it is the TIA afterall, most if not all of the game play elements from the arcade games are intact and seem to match closely. socrates63 and nosweargamer 2 Quote See what I'm up to over at the Ivory Tower Collections: http://www.youtube.com/ivorytowercollections
RickR Posted August 26, 2020 Report Posted August 26, 2020 I like Donkey Kong best. It's fast and looks good. That's one I'll usually play when the 7800 gets used. nosweargamer and socrates63 2 Quote
Justin Posted August 26, 2020 Report Posted August 26, 2020 I have to go with Mario Bros.! It's excellent on the Atari 7800. I enjoy playing it more than the NES version. I could be biased because I grew up with this on the 7800, my dad and I used to have so much fun co-opping this game. nosweargamer and socrates63 2 Quote

Some 7800 games that only require one button play fine using button B on a Genesis controller without the Seagull 78. It's been a while, but I think all three of these games only use one button to jump, so might work with just the controller. Is there a revision of the Genesis pad that you prefer? Quote

TrekMD Posted August 26, 2020 Report Posted August 26, 2020 (edited) Of the three original releases, Mario Bros I think is the best one. DK Jr follows and then DK. If I include homebrews/hacks, Donkey Kong XM/PK takes the cake and it even beats the NES version.
