You gotta remember, though....this is the hardest level on the game. Your 50k score here is far more impressive.
Do you think Seaside is the hardest? Seaside is definitely a real challenge, I always considered Track 4 Suzuka to be the hardest level of the game, nearly impossible. I feel like they made Suzuka as a gift to the fans who really wanted something super challenging to play. It's the Mario Lost Levels of Pole Position

Pole Position has brakes? Lol. I thought the grass and billboards were brakes 😉
Yes but they don't work very well. One of my few complaints about this game.
Another small Pro-Tip: In certain circumstances, puddles can be used effectively as brakes.

I totally forgot about finishing this thread. I have more photos and memories to share. I'll post more as I can.
Have I told the story yet about how some TRU assistant managers were in cahoots stealing PS2s and N64s six at a time off the back of the truck as they were unloaded at the dock, then started a whisper campaign blaming me for the theft "because Justin has a video game website (THIS Atari website that you're on right now!) so he probably sells PS2s and N64s on there"

I'm not sure if this is similar, but it is orange flavored. McDonald's had HiC Orange Lavaburst, which is basically orange pop. They were (as far as I know) like the only place to carry it. A few years ago they decided to discontinue it and it was replaced with some tropical flavored Sprite. What the heck. The HiC was popular, and even my dad, who never drinks things like that, loved it and would sometimes make trips there just for the HiC. He was really bummed when it was discontinued, as I remember a lot of people were when it was announced.
Ah, and now I'm thinking about French fries.
I think that's a fruit punch rather than an orange pop. Isn't it just orange flavored Hi-C? I'm pretty sure they'd offer Hi-C as a fruit punch drink, and then orange pop as something else, more carbonated.

I think an even more interesting comparison is Adventure to E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial

68,400. I got 2nd place in qualifying this time.
There's a 2,000 point difference between Qualifying 2nd Place and Pole Position. Let's say you had qualified with the Pole, you'd have your 70,000 Patch at 70,400. I think you're probably getting a good feel for the game. Once you get that feel, and get that feeling like you really want to play this game, it will all fall into place and you'll get that high score.

Who else loves orange soda? I was in Cub Scouts in elementary school and the parents of one of the other guys in our troop owned a McDonald's franchise. It was cool because every time we had a big event, they'd sponsor our troop with a big Gott cooler of orange pop. It was the big orange cooler you see on construction sites with the nozzle and paper cups. We always called orange pop "Bug Juice" growing up. Anyone else have fun memories of this drink or enjoy it today?

Long story short -- I couldn't get the 3d effect to work because the UHF reception was too fuzzy! D'OH!
I had the same experience with Rad Racer on the NES ☺️

Y'all figured it out. Here's my Atari Day Review of the Gemstik!
@nosweargamer I really enjoyed this review. When I first got into my Atari obsession in the fall of 1993 I wanted to hunt down any Atari products I could find. I mean, Atari had been so HUGE, there HAD to be something left out there. It wasn't easy, but if I looked hard enough once in a while I'd find a game at Kay-Bee Toys or something. At the very beginning of all this I asked my dad if we could stop by Toys R Us after school that friday. As long as I live I'll never forget he said "sure, just remember that we did these nice thing when I'm old." I wanted to see if Toys R Us had any Atari 2600/7800 products left. In September, 1993 they really didn't. Except for the Gemstick. I can tell you first hand, the Gemstick was still on store shelves into at least 1995 at this store. I looked all over Toys R Us hoping to find any games or accessories left over. Atari Lynx was still there along with its shelf of games, which was awesome. Nothing for Atari 2600 or 7800 though. Then I walked over into a different area away from video games but still in electronics, more by the radios, boomboxes, keyboards and video tapes. There was an area with pegboard hangers that had different "TV & VCR Accessories" hanging on it. Blank VHS tapes, coaxial cables, TV antennas, game switch boxes, and the Gemstick. All of the products on this shelf were from Gemini. I recognized this company because Gemini made our TV antenna that we had at home. It was a surprise to find these joysticks on the shelf. I remember being thrown off, thinking "Why are joysticks considered 'TV Accessories'?". I remember the Gemstick was $9.99. I thought about buying it but decided against it. I was looking for actual Atari products, and in those days I was young and $9.99 was a chunk of change that could go towards more important things, like an actual 2600 or 7800 game. There were also Gemini Paddle Controllers too, they were on the shelf next to the Gemstick. I think those were $14.99. I'll post a photo below. (These Gemini controllers shouldn't be confused with the Coleco Gemini, which was a different product line from a different company.) Your review is awesome NSG! Seeing the Gemstik again in it's packaging brought back all these memories. I never got the Gemstick, maybe I should track one down that's in good shape. I like that the yellow button is noticeably bigger than on the standard Atari joystick. I'm thinking it might be just the right size to mod with a nice Sanwa fire button. Would be a fun project! Thanks for the video NSG, and thank you again for getting the word out about Atari I/O and Atari Day.

Depends on the game. Some 7800 games that only require one button play fine using button B on a Genesis controller without the Seagull 78. It's been a while, but I think all three of these games only use one button to jump, so might work with just the controller.
Good point, I'll give that a try. Is there a revision of the Genesis pad that you prefer?

By the way, my favorite way to enjoy play Nintendo games on the Atari 7800 is using a Sega Genesis controller! 😁
Are you using the Edladdin Seagull 78 Adapter to play?

I LOVE HEARING THIS!! It's incredible to see this come up in the thread honestly. This is what High Score Squad is all about, giving old games a second look and seeing them in a new light, and hopefully finding new enjoyment in them.
What qualities about the game have changed in your mind that you now see Pole Position II as a really wonderful conversion?

I have to go with Mario Bros.! It's excellent on the Atari 7800. I enjoy playing it more than the NES version. I could be biased because I grew up with this on the 7800, my dad and I used to have so much fun co-opping this game.

F-ZERO was my entry to the SNES too. I started a little early with Super Famicom but it’s the same thing, same game.

I've got that same Genesis arcade stick modified for use on a Vectrex. It's kind of a wild story...I bought the stick as part of a Vectrex lot via Craigslist, and in researching it a bit, I discovered I knew the guy that modified it! I had no idea he made those sticks.
Cool story @RickR! How does it perform on Vectrex? And doesn't Vectrex need 4 buttons?

Mine too. That's why most Atari computers you find now still work with no issues, while it's not easy to find a working Commodore 64.
On the same note we’re fortunate we didn’t have Atari XEs with cardboard RF shields or anything quite as extreme as that.

That's great Lee. Lots of really cool generous people here.

I was really excited about the Polymega way back when it was announced as the RetroBlox. I thought the blend of FPGA and Emulation and modular design would be a perfect way to enjoy original cartridges and discs in HD, and even be able to save them to the hard drive. I've lost some interest along the way, I hope they do well though. Part of it was FPGA and the whole Coleco Chameleon thing just turned me off. Also my "tastes" for collecting have gone in the direction of just collecting real hardware, original games, and not worrying too much over new Flashbacks and Minis or Retrons. It's a cool idea though, and I love that the product design is reminiscent of the TurboGrafx-16, one of my all time favorite video game systems. Here's an early photo of the "RetroBlox":
