  1. 🕹️ PRO-TIP: Did you know MAME is the best Neo•Geo emulator? We're going to be hosting at least one Neo•Geo game this year, so be ready!

I am ready.  Hopefully, it's a game on the "mini".  But MAME is fine too.

@RickR There will be one or two titles that we will get to that I don't believe are on the "mini", but we will always try to choose games available on the "mini" when doing a Neo•Geo Squad Challenge. The other title or two will be played in a slot we had lined up for a MAME Squad Challenge 😀

      Nice!

We've been watching a lot of movies lately.  The selection last night was the third X-Men movie.  It was kind of a stinker, but entertaining to watch.  There was one very funny scene that went by in a flash -- Colossus carrying a gigantic CRT TV under one arm very casually at Professor X's school.

That little girl will remember and cherish that moment for the rest of her life, guaranteed.  Kids remember loved ones spending time with them doing anything.  I know I still do.

My wife and I have an "adopted" daughter who has kids which we have "adopted" as our grandchildren.  The oldest one at age 4 played Frogger on my 2600.  To this day she still remembers that and she's 11 now.  We now play Minecraft (her favorite) when they come to visit.  All of the grandkids visited us around the end of February and the five kids all played a video game of some sort.  The NES was out, the 7800 was hooked up, the 360 got some playtime, even the 5200 seen some game time.

The LA Rams were my team as a kid.  And the 1979 Super Bowl (Rams vs. Steelers) was probably when football fever really took hold of me.  They had an upstart replacement QB with an Italian name, and they gave the mighty Steelers a good fight.  Anyhoo, I ended up switching alliances to the Browns and Seahawks when the Rams left LA.  And of course, that's when they got really good and actually won a Super Bowl.  D'OH!

This year, I will watch, but I don't really care so much.  It will be fun to observe the spectacle.  The Rams have a ton of players with Oregon roots, so I'll root for them I guess.

  9. 🔋 Reminder our next Squad Challenge will be for Atari Lynx so have those batteries charged!

  10. 📸 REMINDER: Share actual photos of your scores in High Score Squad. Screen captures are not allowed as they are easily manipulated for falsified scores 😉

I learned about this just a little while ago.  Such a loss to the retro gaming community.  I did have the opportunity to meet Curt at the last CGE (2014), where he had an XM to show.  He was very nice and shared with me about all the surgeries he had undergone up until that time.  RIP Curt.  My condolences to his family.

I was so shocked to hear the news. Just Friday I was listening to the episode of Into the Vertical Blank that had part 2 of his interview. He's such a dynamic character. On the bright side, he's back together with Milo now; I hope he got a big puppy-hug!

The Atari Community lost a good one.  My sympathy to his family and friends.

  24. 🏸 Super Breakout may be “the most Atari” of Atari games. There’s beauty in its simplicity. A ball & paddle smashing bricks. The analog feel of a good set of paddle controllers smoothly moving that paddle across the screen delivers a hand/eye connection to the game unlike any other.

A nice set of paddles and some classics like "Super Breakout", "Circus Atari", and "Astroblast" is an experience unavailable on any other system.
